All in all, a good day, the only one that hurt was the Sharks' loss.
-
They won their ELEVENTH straight. They're heating up at the right time. Yeesh. I could see the President's trophy going to them or St. Louis with San Jose as a dark horse in the race. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/03/21/bruins-defeat-avalanche-win-11th-straight-game-and-clinch-a-playoff-spot/ http://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/en/recap?id=2013021053&navid=nhl:topheads

Chicago wins affect us if they play someone in the mix with us. By winning against the Rangers, they kept the Rangers from adding more points, thus they could - potentially - drop from third in the Metro division, opening the spot for Columbus or Washington. Which then puts the Rags in play for the wildcard spots we are fighting for.

Sooooo.. you're saying leg injury below the knee..

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
FireCaptain replied to gcom007's topic in General
Jarnkrok was 0-1-1 +2 w/ 1 shot and 0 PIMs in 16:20 of ice time. Doesn't matter, he never would've gotten that much ice time here in his debut game. haha! -
FRIDAY'S WISH LIST 3/21/14. Columbus win (NYR loss) - +0.6% (+0.3) (odd result, we get %age points either way) This game NEEDS to end in regulation tho. If not, that third point KILLS us - we go from PLUS half a point or so to MINUS one and a half. Chicago win (NYR loss) - +0.1% (-0.2)

Today's (3/20/14) chance: 53.1% with one to play. What we need tonight (all %ages assume regulation win/loss) (red is status with undesired outcome): Kings win (WSH loss) - +1.4% (-1.8) Ugh.. going to OT.. Kings win OT (WSH loss) - +0.1% (-1.6) Ugh.. going to OT.. Kings win SO (WSH loss) - +0.1% (-1.2) So, at this point, we just need a KINGS win to not backslide. KINGS WIN!

James Neal Cross-Check to Glendening's Head [GIF] - Suspension?

He got roughed up a little right near the net.. took a 1/2 stride away and then hit Malkin in the meat and two veggies while facing away from him. Meanwhile, the linesman was in the right circle watching those two as they trailed the play and he saw the whole thing. It's the old - "they sometimes miss the first penalty, but they always get the retaliation." -
GDT 3/20 GDT - Penguins 4 at Red Wings 5 (OT)
FireCaptain replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
Just being silly. Penguins (order Sphenisciformes, family Spheniscidae) are a group of aquatic, flightless birds living almost exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere, especially in Antarctica. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penguin -
Today's (3/20/14) chance: 44.8% What we need tonight (all %ages assume regulation win/loss) (red is status with undesired outcome): Wings win - +10.3% Kings win (WSH loss) - +1.4% (-1.8) Canadiens win (CLB) - +1.5% (-1.3) Minnesota win (NJD) - +1.6% (-1.1) Dallas win (PHI) - +1.2% (-0.7) Lightning win (OTT) - +0.3% (-0.4) The numbers fluctuate slightly as the games play out every night, so you may be off by a point or two. Prior to the west coast game, we sit at 53.1%!!

WHAT A FREAKING GAME! Fast paced and tons of scoring. Glad the flightless birds got their wings clipped. Whew! -

You HAD to choose 87.. really? haha we're doomed! jinx! -
I'm nothing but optimistic! I started this thread just to keep everyone, that chooses to view it, up to date on the current odds. I'm pretty sure the Wings will squeak in and then - who knows what can happen!
-
Well, that worked out well. Bolts over Leafs. 44.8

Saved for posterity. 3/18: Today's (3/18/14) chance: 35.2% What we need tonight (all %ages assume regulation win/loss): Wings win - +8.3% Boston win (NJD loss) - +1.4% Ottawa win (NYR) - +1.6% Chicago win (PHI) - +1.3% Columbus win (CAR) - +1.5% Anahein win (WAS) - +0.7% Colorado win (MTL) - +0.6%
-
Exactly what I was thinking. *fingers crossed The magic record seems to be 7-4-4 to have a better than 50% chance (of making the playoffs) this year. It jumps to over 75% if we can just squeak out another win and be 8-4-3.

There's a joke there - somewhere.

Subwager: Wings win: Tears of joy - 80% Tears of sadness - 15% Undecided - 5% Wings lose: Tears of anger - 90% Tears of "told you we should have just sold everything at the deadline and tanked" - 10%

FireCaptain replied to gcom007's topic in General
Thanks for providing those. I can appreciate the comparisons about so-and-so is the next blah-blah. I think it easily allows people to conjure up an idea of what a player may be like without getting technical since we're not all NHL scouts. Do they all work out? No. Interesting to read? Yes, mostly. -
Coming from an epic GDT creator this is high praise.
