    Rafalski Vs. Souray

Souray sucks ass. Anybody who wants him is purely going off of the fact that the guy will, on occasion, drop the gloves. While that's all fine and good, he's horrible in all aspects of the game except for the PP. He's like the Jason Allison of defenseman: He survives souly on the PP. His defensive game and his skating ability, amoung other things, is something to really be desired. He does have a hard shot, and is mildly physical, so I'll give him that. But signing Souray would have been a horrible replacement for Schneider, since Souray is even worse defensivily, and you'll have to overwork guys like Chelios and Kronwall because Souray can't play at even strength without being blown away by someone much better then him. Rafalski was a great pickup, and a far better player than both Schneider and Rafalski. He can play on the PP just as well as Souray, but can also play on the PK, and is capable of logging 25+ minutes of ice time without being wacked by someone way better than him. Rafalski was a great signing. I don't know how or why people actually think Souray is a better player. Clearly the people who do have never seen the man play, and are going purely off his stats. Kinda like the same people who think signing Alexei Yashin is a good move.

    Tampa Bay's new logo leaked

I don't understand why teams are all changing their logos. No matter what these stupid new jerseys are made out of, can't you just keep the old logo? Tampa's looks similar, yes, but I'm speaking in general here. It's a novelty thing to do by changing the team's logo. It's cool when one team does it, but not when all 30 do it at the same time.

    NHL Attendance 2006-2007

The only reason the general public is interested now is because the team is in danger of moving. If everything was all ok, and Leipold decided to keep the team, it would be the same thing every year. Nobody would really care all that much. If Nashville keeps it's team, then good for you. I won't have a problem with it if you actually start selling out games while being an elite team.

    Mark Hartigan?

Another GR signing. *Yawn* Although, I have seen Hartigan play before, and he is a pretty gritty player. Combine that with his scoring potential, and I'm really surprised he hasn't been a full time NHL regular.

Brent Sutter might coach the Devils

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=213329&hubname=nhl Nothing official right now, as it's just a TSN rumor at this point. Still, I've got wonder why John Maclean hasn't been considered yet, considering he's a figure within the organization. If this happens, I can forsee another firing going on right before the playoffs. Then we'll here all these idiotic comments like "Well, you know. Lou can do that sort of thing", just like last year.

Drake on The Jamie & Brady show..

Stoney is right though... in a sense. But yeah, that was a really dumb thing to say. He really was being an ass.

Thank you for posting Reem. I'm glad Drake is excited to play here. I can't wait for the season to start.

    Lebda Vs Quincey

With the current defenseman left on the market, it definitly is. Andy Sutton is the only one who truly interests me, but he wants just as much money as Markov does. There are guys that I wouldn't mind, like Bryan Berard. He's the best there is left as far as top defenseman go. Honestly though, a player like Berard wouldn't fill any need that we don't already have another player who can do what he does. Lidstrom and Rafalski are both perfectly capable offensive defenseman, so Berard wouldn't really be needed. Of course, as far as fighting defenseman go, there are still some of my favorites, like Eric Cairns. Only problem is he is of the "caveman on skates" variety: meaning that other than fighting, he isn't that a great of player. I still think if he played with a decent defenseman as his partner, like Chelios, he might do well. I have my doubts about Holland ever signing a 6'6 sized player. He prefers anything in the 5'8-5'11 catagory. I don't know what'll happen. My instinct tells me Holland is done. He hasn't came out and said anything yet, but judging by what's left on the market, I don't expect any more signings.

    NHL Attendance 2006-2007

I've said many times that I personally don't think New Jersey should have a team. It's not really a big time hockey area (I know, it is close to New York, but it still isn't), and the only time there are any fans other than the die hards are when the Rangers and Islanders are bad. That's it. Who else are you referring to as a second market that had a good team but had bad attendance? Atlanta? As far as good teams go, there really weren't that many (other than Nashville and New Jersey) that didn't draw well.

    Best shootout goal ever!

Yep, that's right. While Daigle can't score much on goalies, he does have a keen eye for empty net goals. That's why I think Al Iafrate doesn't care for him too much. I wouldn't consider Stefan to be the biggest bust ever. In fact, when you think about it, he really shouldn't have went 1st overall. They originally thought Pavel Brendl (who was an even bigger bust as it turns out) was going to be the #1 overall selection in that draft.

Yzerman vs Fedorov in the 90's...

Yeah, well it's just the fact that he did it. If that's not the reason why a majority of Wings fans didn't like him, then what was? You can't say it's because he was Russian. Guys like Vladdy and Larionov were both two of the most popular players on the Wings with the fans, and they were both Russians too. Then why exactly did he leave? To be a dick?

Who will challenge the Wings for Central title?

Agreed to an extent. St. Louis I totally agree with. I expect them to be a very good team next year. Kariya is a major upgrade over Guerin, and the rest of the team has a good core around it. Columbus I do not agree with. They just don't have enough to make it through a whole season. I really don't expect them to do much. Chicago is a soft team (with the exception of Vandermeer and Duncan Keith) and has a lot of dead weight on it. Guys like Lang and Williams are not top line players, which is what they will be in Chicago. Nashville is a tough call. Honestly, I do hope they completely fall of the map next year, but I just don't see it happening. Arnott is a great #1 center, and Legwand was doing a fine job as the #2 center before Forsberg came. They still go guys like Radulov too, who have a lot of potential. So, it's hard to say right now. I see either St. Louis or Nashville being the ones who will give us trouble. St. Louis is putting together a great core, and Nashville still has a few decent players left. Columbus and Chicago will not be much of a factor. They either have really young, underachieving players (Columbus), or over-the-hill, overpaid players (Chicago). I just don't see them making too much of an impact.

    Kopecky

GET SOME SCOTT MAY, GET SOME!!!!!!1!!!111!!!!1!!!!11!!!!1111!!!!1 That announcer is a joke. He'd be good for an internet meme though. Just record him on a picture of an O RLY? owl, and you have yourself a popular new trend.

    Wings vs. Lions Thanksgiving Day

They'll be setting an NHL record for losses in a single season if that happens.

Yzerman vs Fedorov in the 90's...

The reason Fedorov was questioned is because of his contract dispute. You don't sit out over half a season because of money and expect to be liked by the fans. I used to like Fedorov a lot. He was one of my favorite Red Wings. How can I say that about him now though? I know he won a lot here, and it's his own decision to leave. But why? He wanted more money? That honestly is not a good reason, at least in my opinion. The whole "more money" thing is a crapshoot. I personally hate it when players leave teams that they mean a lot to for this very reason. It shows what greed bags they are.

Kyle Quincey fight I just uploaded

Ah, so he does fight! Atta boy Quincey. I now command that you get a roster spot over Lilja. I don't understand why he can't do anything like that now. From watching him last year, the guy plays like a damn girl. And it's shame considering he's 6'3.

Yzerman vs Fedorov in the 90's...

That would have never happened if he would have stayed here. Like he should have. Heh, didn't see that. Getzlaf is better.

    Wings vs. Lions Thanksgiving Day

The Lions always lose on Thanksgiving. In fact, it's usually a blowout too. Unless they play either Oakland or Houston, it's a guerenteed loss. The Wings game will depend on the Predators standing at that time. Judging by their current roster, I don't see them giving us that much trouble.

Too bad Kopecky is still on the roster.

    NHL Attendance 2006-2007

Do I really have to explain, once again, why Nashville is such a horrible hockey market? I'll leave it to one simple fact: The Predators were one of the top teams in the league this year. They had quite a few all-star players on the team. And they still couldn't sellout. Sorry if my statements offend the die hard fans like you, but if you want me to stop, maybe you guys could start actually going to the games? Since, you know, seeing as you have probably the cheapest tickets in the league (next to the Florida Panthers). It was bound to come up eventually. See, if I wouldn't have said it, someone else would have.

    Vote for Sid!

...and the ridiculous amount of money he got from that LA soccer team. Sid doesn't have a chance. I still voted for him though.
