  1. He has the best chance of coming here. I mean, sure there are better options, but knowing Holland he won't jump on them. I like Hall because he has shown times where he's willing to fight. He's also not a caveman on skates either: for a guy that normally plays a checking line role, 15 goals is a pretty good contribution.

    Alexei Yashin

It would also be the most useless line in entire league. And the laziest. *waits for some moron to come and say what a hard worker Kopecky is*
  3. Kp-Wings

    Alexei Yashin

Oh, Yashin has size. He's actually 6'3. Normally that'd be just what the Wings need, if not for the fact that Yashin has probably never thrown a body check in his entire life. I was wondering the same thing. There have been rumors about him coming here, but only because he's one of the last few big name players left.

    Alexei Yashin

Yeah, and your point? I agree with that statement. Fedorov was the same way. Why do you keep making an excuse for Yashin? I really believe that you, and many others for that matter, have never seen this guy play, and are just going off of his past point totals. If you had seen him play, you'd see that he provides about as much energy to the lineup as a dead horse. Yashin is lazy and he sucks. End of story.
  5. Hasn't this been rumored for years now?

    Alexei Yashin

The only reason Yashin begged to stay on Long Island is his hefty salary he was getting. Would you want to walk away from 7 million a season? Face it, Yashin is a greed bag. He's only playing hockey just for the paycheck. He cares nothing about winning, or trying. He's a horrible choice, and should not be considered at all.

Returning to our Early 90's roots?

Personally I'd like to see a Chervier/Riendeau tandem. Kudos to the first person to get these two's first names right.

    Alexei Yashin

...and you think Yashin is the guy to provide that?

    Alexei Yashin

Yashin sucks. No thank you. edit: Why is Alexei himself saying it's a sure thing the Wings signed him? I haven't heard that anywhere. It's only been rumored interest.

    Red Wings Scoring Predictions

Zetterberg 50-54-104 Datsyuk 34-65-99 Lidstrom 10-60-70 Holmstrom 32-25-57 Rafalski 6-40-46 Hudler 17-12-29 Filppula 15-24-39 Samuelsson 10-15-25 Cleary 20-25-45 Grigorenko 5-12-17 Kronwall 0-12-12 Draper 8-16-24 Franzen 7-5-12 Lebda 3-14-17 Drake 8-12-20 Maltby 3-7-10 Kopecky 0-0-0 Chelios 1-15-16 Lilja 0-3-3 Quincey 1-5-6 230 total goals scored. My predictions are considerably lower then the rest, though Datsyuk and Zetterberg would both have career seasons.

    List of UFAs next season...

I haven't really looked at the list much yet. Malone was the name who caught my eye, because he'd be a great fit. A scoring winger for the second line is a must have. I was looking for the most practical option. Sure, I'd love Hossa if we could get him. But not at the expense of Zetterberg. Hossa will demand nothing less then top dollar, especially after these ridiculous contracts going to guys like Briere and Gomez. I just don't think it's possible to sign him and still keep Zetterberg. If it is possible, we'd be like Tampa Bay. We'd have a great top line, and a pretty mediocre team after that. That is, unless our prosepcts really come through.

    List of UFAs next season...

Yeah I am. Ryan Malone is a 2nd line player. What, because I don't think Marian Hossa is a very practical option, that makes me stupid? Ok, yeah. Let's sign a playoff underachiever for 8-10 million a season. Then when Zetterberg is a free agent, we have no money left, because it's all going to Datsyuk and Hossa. Yep, that sure sounds like a good and practical plan. /sarcasm

    Shanahan re-signs with Rangers

Not really. Just because their buying out a bunch of forwards doesn't make them Cup contenders. Look at the Rags roster in 2001-2002. That year they had Eric Lindros, Pavel Bure, Theo Fleury, Mike York, Petr Nedved, Radek Dvorak, Brian Leetch, Mark Messier, Matthew Barnaby, Vladimir Malakhov, Bryan Berard, Andreas Johansson, and Martin Rucinsky on the team, and they didn't even make the playoffs. The Rags roster in 2002-2003 was pretty much the same, minus Fleury, and Berard, and instead had Bobby Holik and Alexei Kovalev. Their roster in 2003-2004 was minus Pavel Bure, but had Jaromir Jagr instead. They had a group of all star players on those teams, and that didn't get them anywhere. Note that this was before guys like Lindros and Bure were crippled also. They were still dominant players on these teams. Yet, the Rangers missed the playoffs all three of those years. Buying high priced players doesn't mean that they will win it all this year. They still need to sign Lundqvist, Avery, and their current defense roster looks pretty poor.

    List of UFAs next season...

Satan comes with a high asking price. No thank you. I think some suggestions are a bit ridiculous. Marian Hossa? Come on now. I'm not a big fan of his anyways, since he always goes into early hibernation come playoff time. There are a ton of good names on that list I would love to see here, but most of them are unlikely anyways. One I do think is likely is Ryan Malone. He'd be a great fit here. Smaller name player that would fit here are two guys that I really like: Matt Cooke and Brad Isbister. I don't know why Kenny won't sign Isbister: He's been given enough chances to do so. Cooke is probably one of the best practical names out there, in my opinion. Most of the big name players will all want big contracts. I'll take a look more at that list later. There are some good choices on there. It just comes down to who is the most practical choice. Marian Hossa is not one of those.

    NHLPA Player of the day

It goes off of recent signings or re-signings. Drake was the biggest name to sign yesterday, unless you consider Mike York a bigger name player.

Who will be the new LGW whipping boy?

    Lilja or Samulesson.

    adam berkhoel?

He'll be the #4 goalie (or backup in GR, if you will).

    Shanahan re-signs with Rangers

Exactly my thoughts. Their top defenseman this year is going to be Fedor Tyutin. While the rest of their defense isn't bad (Malik, Strudwick, Rozsival) and Tyutin isn't that bad either, they have no true top defenseman. Just a bunch of #5-6 guys. As for Shanahan: Thank God he did sign in New York. I wasn't terribly worried he'd come back, but there was still that off chance. We don't need him here.

    Crosby signs five-year extension

The Penguins could have given Crosby a 12 year contract, and that would have been considered a fair deal. If DiPietro can get 15 years, shouldn't Crosby get somewhere close to that? Regardless, it's still a good deal on Pittsburgh's end. 5 years is low risk, and as far as Sid is involved, there's no real risk to it. He's a fantastic hockey player.

Wings sign Drake for 1-year, $550K

Agreed. That trade was bad on so many levels. Like Vladinator said: Osgood basically stripped the starting job from Cheveldae. I don't know how that was not good enough for Murray. Dumping Cheveldae was a plus, but Essensa was even worse. He didn't once play a truly good game for the Wings. The worst part of that deal was giving up Drake, especially for Bautin. Bautin was, in some cases, even worse then Essensa (ok, maybe not that bad, but you know what I mean). I can understand why they made the trade: Bautin, at the time, was an up and coming prospect. He was big, and had scoring potential. But he only played 1 game for the Wings, the day after they got him. After that, he was toast. I hated that part of the deal so much. In short, I'll bet that was what truly costed Bryan Murray his job. While Cheveldae was no huge loss, the Wings gave up Drake way too easily, especially considering he was putting up some decent points in his rookie season. Bautin played one season with Winnipeg before, and in his rookie season, had less points than Drake did. Receiving Essensa was the worst part though, since he cost us every playoff game he played in. He was purely awful.

    Drake vs Lang....who is better?

These two cannot be compared, considering they both play totally different roles. Just for the hell of it though: Drake. I've always been a Dallas Drake fan. On the other hand, it's the exact opposite for Lang.

    Vishnevski a Devil

And you figured this out on your own? If Vishnevski can come as cheap as 1.8 million, than Markov should be able to sign for 1.5 million. Vishnevksi is a much better hitter than Markov, and better fighter to boot. They also both have the same offensive capabilities (which is none). I don't get why Markov thinks he's a 4 million a year player (not making this up either, MLive has confirmed that this is what he wants). What has he really done to warrant that money? If he's going to be an ass bag about it his salary demands, then I just assume sign Andy Sutton, since he'll come cheaper then what Markov is asking for. He wants 2.5 million, which is what Markov made last year.
  24. Kp-Wings

    Vasicek?

He's not that bad. With the reaction here, you'd think we were talking about Lang. Injuries have depleted Vasicek in the last few years, but I'd be willing to take him. He's put up decent points, and actually uses his size. I wouldn't mind seeing him come here.

    Vishnevski a Devil

It's the truth though. Usually his *sources* are just him looking at TSN.
