    Vishnevski a Devil

I'm pretty sure that's probably what Holland offered him. I highly doubt he'd give the guy less money after having a good season. If Danny himself thinks he should get more than that, then it's time we part ways. A defenseman of his playing abilities is worth what he got. Nothing more.

    Vishnevski a Devil

How much are the Wings supposed to give him? I mean, come on. I like Markov and everything, but are we all insisting that he's a 3 million and beyond player? I certainly don't think so. 2.5 million is a lot for a defensive defenseman. Sorry, but it is. The Wings have somewhere between 4-6 million left in Cap room. Judging by those figures, Souray is not that likely of an option. If it is possible, then it'll be a very tight fit.

For the last time people: Markov doesn't want to play here. He rejected a contract offer from the Wings back at the draft. Does this not say something to any of you? On topic: Damn it! Vishnevski would have been a great defenseman to sign! This is the second summer he's gotten away. It better not happen next time!

Damn, too bad. Eric Cairns would be a dream choice for the Wings. Although he is a borderline caveman on skates type of player, I still would love him on the Wings.

Wings sign Drake for 1-year, $550K

He addresses it in a way that the Wings finally get someone who is going to check people. Just because he doesn't fight as much as he used to doesn't make him any less tough. You know that I feel the same way that you do: I want the Wings to have a fighter also. But at the same time, I really don't feel the Drake signing was bad. I like it, in fact. I've always been a fan of Dallas Drake, for the way he crushes people out on the open ice. His hitting is really valuable.

I would definitly take Nieminen on this team. I just hope that if it happens, guys like Samulesson and Kopecky are given the boot in the process. I will agree Nieminen has done some stupid, and very bad, s*** in his in his career. Who's to say that he won't help us though? A player like him certainly would, dirty or not.

Why is it that Kopecky is so much better to some people? He only had 1 f-ing point in the 26 games he played before his injury. The fact that his so called physical play is pretty much a myth at this point is just what really makes me mad. He hardly checked guys at all last year. I guerentee you that even Grigorenko or Hudler will be more physical then Kopecky. He is insanly soft for a player his size. He's also a bad skater, and has very little offensive upsider. Sure, neither does Dallas Drake. But at least Drake does his defined job much better then Kopecky.

I don't get what your problem is. You still haven't answered my question. Since you know everything, who should they sign? I'm curious to know. Although I probably won't get an answer, since I've asked you the same question multiple times before, and you continue to refuse to answer me.

Oh, I didn't know you could already see the future. Or have Mike Babcocks plans for next season in you posession. That's a bold statement to make at this point.

Or Jamal Mayers. Or Dan Hinote. Or Jay McKee. Or Bryce Salvador. Or Matt Walker. Or Ryan Johnson. Or any other player in their minor league system who fights. The Blues have plenty of fight capable players on their team. Just because Drake only had one fight on a team full of fighting players don't mean he's incapable of doing it himself.

I'm right in that group too. I always liked Dallas Drake. He plays with a lot of energy, and the Wings finally get a forward who is willing to throw big hits. I like this signing.

Guerin is the new captain of NYI

Another knee-jerk reaction by the Islanders. I don't understand this. Guerin is like origami: He folds under pressure. He's the exact opposite of a leader. And yet you got guys like Sillinger or Witt that are defined leaders who got snubbed. I will admit that Guerin is far and beyond a better leader than Yashin though. No matter who it is, it's a breath of fresh air for any Islanders fans since it isn't Yashin! edit: lolz spelling

That's wrong then. He is only being paid 550k by the Wings. The 1.1 million you heard is what he's being paid from St. Louis from the contract buyout. And please, just humor me on this one: Don't make some lame ass joke like "boy he must really suck if St. Louis bought him out!!!!1one!!11!!!1!!!!111!!!1". As I recall, Edmonton bought out Dan Cleary a few years ago, and look how he turned out.

Since you bring that up... Is Eric Cairns currently under contract with another team right now? I would instantly take back every bad thing I ever said about Holland if he signed Cairns. After all, Holland claims he is looking for another defenseman, and Cairns just happens to play that position.

Ok. Who do you exactly have in mind that's actually still left?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I wish Holland would just sign Asham too. I'm very happy for the Drake signing, but like you, I wish the Wings had a fighter also. I don't know why Holland is so afraid to sign a player who fights. Guys like Asham or Adam Hall (my 2nd choice) aren't exactly cavemen on skates either: both of these guys proved at various points in their careers that they could put up decent points while being a fighter at the same time. Oh well.

I would definitly include Halpern in that mix. He's a pretty tough guy. I was really pulling for him last summer, but Holland missed out. Halpern was also great in the playoffs for Dallas this year. He had about 2 or 3 goals in only 7 games on a offensivily depleted Dallas team. I would love to see Halpern in a Red Wings uniform sometime in the near future, since he's a good all around player, and is pretty tough too.

That's the way I looked at it. While you know Asham is my #1 choice, I always liked Drake, and he's pretty entertaining to watch. It's not like he's terrible at what he does either: Even though he's getting older, he still lays crushing open ice checks. I am glad Holland signed him.

He's clutching at straws to stay in the NHL. I really don't know why either, since he hasn't been very big on fighting lately since getting his face bashed in by Boogaard and Orr.

I love the Chris Shelton reference, since it's spot on. Everybody cried in their beers because Shelton was demoted, saying his home run hitting was just fine. While that part was, everybody was missing the fact that the rest of his game was something to be desired, and his defensive game especially was very bad. It's the same with guys like Yashin. Sure, he can maybe put up 50 points a season. But he's also horrible defensivily, extremely lazy, and a cancer in the lockeroom. Just like with Shelton with the Tigers, everybody forgets the little details that make these guys like Yashin less then desirible pickups for the Wings.

Drake Siginng Probably Won't be The Last

I'm aware of that stupid bulls***. If he decides to do that, it'll just show what a great sport he is. Personally I don't see it as a loss, since he's never played here before anyways. I highly doubt Igor Grigorenko is going to be the difference between the Wings winning the Stanley Cup or not.

Drake Siginng Probably Won't be The Last

Don't send Drake to GR. He's not a bad player. In fact, he's exactly what the Wings have been lacking for quite a while now. If he feels GR is the option, send Grigorenko there before Drake. Grigorenko is still young. Drake isn't the type of player that you go out and sign just to go to GR. I will hate Holland for a very long time if he sends Drake down, because that's just useless.

Best part of it is he's cheap! This means the Wings could still go out, sign another player in free agency, and still have a ton of cap room left to make a big splash at the deadline. I enjoy watching Drake play, and I'm actually really glad the Wings signed him. It's about time Kenny went out and signed a player who can actually hit.
