Name I didn't expect! You called it Lou! Eh, I like Dallas Drake. Always have, even if he is 38. Glad to have him back here with the Wings. He was always a good gritty player, and plays with a lot of energy. Glad to have him back. Don't tell me your done though Kenny! Get Colby Armstrong next!
-
You're not the first to say that. I've said it many times myself: The Wings only have 3 North American forwards on the team right now. 3! That's really an un-balanced scale leaning towards Europe. Everyone (except Lou and Detroit #1 fan) all think I'm crazy when I say that, but it's true. This team definitly needs more North American players on it. The only reason I disagreed with your logic is because most GM's don't think that way. They'd be resigned regardless of what country their from.
-
That logic sounds like it's coming from Grapes himself. That is merely coincidental. If Ryder and Avery were both from Kazakhstan but put up the exact same numbers, and played the exact same style, they would still be re-signed, regardless. I highly doubt Bob Gainey and Glen Sather are up in their respective office's going "We need to bring these guys back because their Canadian!". Unless Grapes or Brian Burke are the GM's, most people don't think that way.

There is not a snowballs chance in hell that either Ryder or Avery are let go by their respective teams. Let's get that out there right now. Same goes for Lee Stempniak. A more realistic option is Colby Armstrong. Since Pittsburgh already let Oullet go for a veteran player, there is a good chance Armstrong could be gone too, especially coming off a tough season. Armstrong would be a great fit for the Wings. He's a gritty winger with plenty of scoring potential. I like the sound of that. The others that are left don't impress me. Marcel Hossa is actually a pretty gritty player, much more so then his brother, although the talent between the two is nearly cut in half. He really isn't that great of a player. I'd rather go after Armstrong instead, as far as arbitrations go (if Armstrong even makes it to that point).

Oh come now. Everyone knows Yashin and Peca are great friends. They just did that whole media hate thing because the Islanders were always getting knocked out in the first round, and wanted the team to continue to have media attention, even during the offseason.

There is basically nobody left in the top 6 market that I would touch with a 10-foot pole. Unless it was for an extremely cheap contract. O'Neill would normally be a perfect fit, being a right-handed shot, and a good scorer. But the fact that his past 2 seasons have been awful, he's still recovering from the death of his brother, and is afraid of flying, that makes it a risk. I wouldn't mind Eric Lindros to be honest, but I do disgress again: It would have to be for a very cheap contract. If then it happens, I'll be happy. Lindros is still a good player when he's healthy. Yashin sucks. You all know my feelings on him, so I need not say more. Jason Allison is brutal. Just plain brutal. He is hands-down the slowest player in the league. He's also even more out of shape then he was before, considering he hasn't played in a year. He survives solely on the PP, and looks extremely lost on even strength due to his slow foot speed. Allison is a dinosaur at this point in his career, and for his own sake, should hang up the skates. There are no other big names left other then that. I mean, most other big name players left are either high risk players, or not that good at all. There is nobody on the current market that will satisfy the need for a top 6 forward. That includes Shanahan also.

Prucha was re-signed 3 days ago.
-
No, not at all. Does that mean I want Shanahan here though? Hell no.
-
Excellent post. I am very much in favor of signing Eric Lindros for a cheap contract. Like I said: When he's healthy, he can still be a dominating force out on the ice.
-
And take 1000 steps back in the progress? Ugh, no. We did well enough without that lazy puss on this team. He doesn't even want to play here anyways. You all know my feelings, so I don't think I need to explain myself.
-
I hope you're right. Why does everybody think playing for the Red Wings will completely change Yashin's attitude? Why? Are the Wings all of a sudden made of magic that can turn even the worst of attitudes into star players? I guess by that logic we should sign every lazy, greedy, and no-work ethic player in the league and they will all of a sudden start playing good, because their on the Wings roster. Uh huh, that's how it is. The comments I'm seeing here are pathetic. I'm going to say it again: If Ted Nolan, the ultimate motivational coach, can't motivate you, then who in the flying f*** can? I won't deny Yashin's talent. He is a very talented player. But so is Robert Lang. Now that we got rid of Lang, why bother signing another guy who doesn't maximize his talents to his full potential? I don't get it. If Yashin must be signed, then let the lazy fatass work for his money, by signing him to an incentive laden contract. Don't give him anything above 2 million, otherwise he'll go into auto-pilot mode, just like he's been for the last 5 years.
-
That's great to hear. Without question, Zetterberg is my favorite player on the Wings right now. I hope he does stay here his entire career.
-
If Lindros took a dirt cheap contract, like 1 million a season, I'd be in great favor of the move. I mean, he is a vegetable, but when he actually is on his game, he can still dominate. Given that only comes around about 10 games a year though, it would have to be for a really cheap contract.
-
I will hate Ken Holland for life if he did this. That would be considered unforgivable, especially a 4 million a season. Wow, I have to say. I questioned Ken Holland before, but this is ridiculous. A lazy, under-achieving forward for 4 million a season? What the f*** is that about?

Rawr I can't sleep

...and people say Nashville should keep it's team!
-
Yeah, that's sure how it is. Just how you feel this 2nd line is going to carry the team to the Cup finals, right?
-
You didn't even spell his name right.
-
Glad it got your attention. I'm not spoiled. What do you want me to say though? Come out and completely lie about how I feel the way the team is right now? Unlike many, I do not feel this team is "ok and in good shape". As usual, the Wings have no second line to speak. I understand they went all of last season with useless Lang playing with Williams and Bertuzzi, who also both sucked, and it didn't make a difference. But with the amount of non-playoff teams in the west all making these big signings and becoming competitive, it worries me that our second line is going to consist of 3 rookies, none of which are even above 6 feet tall. You can say what you want about the Central being a cake walk, but that will not the case. That's a not stab at Holland either. That's a plus to St. Louis Blues management for signing Paul Kariya, and along with a heapful of good draft picks, making that team a playoff contender. Hey, we all have our own opinions of things. You may not think St. Louis is a playoff team, but I do. It's the same thing with the Wings. I certainly believe this team will make the playoffs. But how far will they go? With this current grouping of forwards, being one great line of Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom, and nothing much after that. Cleary is the only expierenced one left who could put up decent points. I'm sorry, but I don't like the fact that our 2nd line is going to consist of 3 rookies. That just doesn't do it for me.
-
Over what? Because I don't think Ken Holland is the best GM in the entire history of pro sports like everyone else here does? Obviously we have a disagreement on how the team should be built, so let's just leave it at that.
-
Way to be one yourself and completely miss the joke. You're one to talk. You make some ******* comment at just about what everyone says here. You're not a mod, nor an admin. You don't have a say over what people can and cannot say, so stop acting like you do.

Thank you for pulling my name out of the hat, thus dragging me back into an argument I was done with. My problem is that the managment sees Kopecky as the better player. Why not just dump him on some team in Switzerland or something, and then sign Winchester? I mean, they did it last year with Krys Kolanos when he was acting all pissy in GR. It's not like this is something that would never happen. I'm not giving up all hope because the Wings didn't sign Brad Winchester. That's silly. This team has way too many other problems for me to notice then just that.

Drew Carey is great, but it's never on anymore! The only time it's on is 6:30 in the mourning on weekdays, and I can't demand myself to wake up that early. I don't know why they refuse to put it on a decent timeslot.
