I used to live in Fraser, and the section of Roseville by me wasn't all that bad. It's when you start heading south is when it gets bad!
-
What was the average attendance of the SeaWolves? 7? My point wasn't a stab at what happened with the hurricane (I'm not that mean, Christ). I said that because Biloxi is the exact opposite of a hockey market. It's a perfect area in Bettmans mind to put a new team.

I can assure you that Mark Cullen is probably 1000 times better then Alexeev. And I really don't like Cullen all that much anyways. Alexeev is a horribly soft player for his size. He also has injury problems. Is that really what defines a good signing for you?
-
Not true. Only cities south of the Mason-Dixon line would have a team. Anything north of that (aka an actual hockey market) would be forbidden to have a team. Also, Dallas and Tampa would be moved to Biloxi, Mississippi and Macon, Georgia respectivily. Those cities have too many people from the north who like hockey.

That's Holland's calling card.
-
Agree on all points Harold. The second line really looks awful right now, but with Holland coming out and saying "I'm done signing" this is what we're stuck with.
-
He played with Chicago last year, for anyone wondering.
-
I like that idea. Think I'll do the same.
-
You want me to answer the question? The Wings will be a one line team. But they were last year, so it's no difference.
-
Lang and Williams are not a loss.
-
Jagr to the Wings? Sounds like an e5. Just in case you don't get the joke, that means it won't happen.
-
I heard he's in contract talks with Dan Marino to bring him out of retirement. Make it happen Kenny!

I just remembered Marc Pouliot is still there. If he hasn't been considered a bust yet. The Oilers later round drafting hasn't been too bad, but their first round has been awful. I can't imagine why they haven't just gone on to trading their first round picks, because with the small exception of guys like Hemsky, very few of the Oilers first round picks ever make it.
-
Chicago accepted Kyle Calders arbitration ruling last summer but traded him the very next day. Bad example though, because Chicago is not exactly the smartest team around. It still has happened before though, which is why I pointed it out.
-
Honestly though, I couldn't think of anyone else in Edmonton that's a young, and is a good player right now. As you said, I have never seen a team draft as bad as Edmonton does. Drafting guys like Niinimakii and Mike Henrich make me wonder why you even bother having a scouting staff.

Alexeev is lazy and he sucks. Big bodies that don't play even a hint of physical is a major waste. His offensive numbers aren't anything spectacular either, since he couldn't even crack a scoring line in Chicago. No thanks.

Easier said than done though. Let's say Hemsky has a career year and the Oilers win the Cup that same year. What is going to happen with those negotiations? Since the SCF's usually end somewhere in mid-June, that leaves about half a month to make a new deal. Knowing these guys will want as much money as they can get, they will continue to sit on their hands until they have a deal which they really like. By that time, most likely, it will be past July 1st, and another team will be in the works of throwing an offer sheet at said player (in this case, Hemsky). The offer sheet will be made, and if Lowe chooses to match, he'll end up probably overpaying for him. It's not easy locking up the top RFA's for certain teams, because these guys usually have career years and want a lot of money that team management is not willing to give. Having another team throw offer sheets forces them to eventually do that anyways, but screws up any other plans the team has. I don't know what exactly Buffalo had planned after losing Briere and Drury. Considering the market has been drained in less then a week, probably just play rookies or nothing was planned at all.
-
It must be a real hard year for Buffalo fans. Well, Kevin Lowe will be unsuccessful in this anyways. The Sabres have a ton of cap room left, so they should match. All this did was screw the Oilers for many years. I'm sure other GM's can't wait until guys like Ales Hemsky are RFA's. It'll make for some real fireworks.

http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...0433/1128/rss16 Just saw this, and thought it was pretty strange. Coyote106, do you know the exact reason why he was fired? His regular season record is pretty good, and his playoff record is only one game below .500. I don't really get why he was let go. Of course, if he's gone, Krys Kolanos could be back!

nvm
-
I heard about that. Too bad.
-
I'm surprised it's Lowe and not MacTavish whining. Yeah, you should have seen that coming.
-
Pierre Turgeon is a name that will probably be one that will fall into that group, solely because he never won a Stanley Cup. That's always been my problem with the HOF selections. There are so many great players that don't get in simpily because they've never won a Stanley Cup. As I remember it, it's called the Hockey Hall of Fame. Not the Stanley Cup Champion Hall of Fame.

Hey, when it comes to useless crap the Wings don't need, Holland will not fail. Hint: Mikeal Samulesson.
-
Honestly, I have yet to see it. He never impressed me at all this year, even before the injury. I wish Holland would act on this then. I know if it happened everyone would go off and call CHEAPSHOT!!!!1one1!!!1!!11!!!!!!1 or some crap like that, but I always like Nieminen. He's dropped the gloves before (not a good fighter, but was at least willing) and his agressive forechecking style would be a good fit. I'd be very happy with Holland if he signed Nieminen.
