Jesus ******* Christ. Why is Holland so obsessed with signing guys clearly bound for GR? Does he really want them to win a Calder Cup that badly? I certainly hope Mark Cullen isn't the depth forward he spoke of either, since he is not what this team needs. Another small center.
-
What all has he taken that's worth anything though? He signed Schneider. Ok, that's a loss. Holland, to my utter surprise, goes out and signs Brian Rafalski. Even though Rafalski isn't my totally type of player (gritty fighter), I do like him, since he's a good offensive defenseman, and he is definitly a better player then Schneider. He doesn't suck defensivily like Schneider either, and actually had more points then Schneider last year also. Overall, that was a good signing by Kenny. I like Rafalski, and think he will fit good here. Hence my signature too. Our other loss? Todd Bertuzzi. In my opinion, this is addition by subtraction for the amount of money Bertuzzi will currently be making now. He was, oh how do I put this, ******* useless here. He showed no flash of the power foward he once was. He was a damn puss out there. Initially I wanted him back, but now I really don't. He isn't worth it. All the other guys like Shane Hnidy and such were never actually confirmed to come here. That was just classic Eklund bulls***. Don't put too much into it. I am only defending Holland right now over Anaheim's signings of our own players, since he really didn't lose much. But still, I have a feeling he is still letting Burke assrape him this offseason. And if Holland doesn't sign Arron Asham... well, I'll have to ask Lou and motorcitykid to save me a seat on the "Holland sucks" bandwagon, since I'll be hopping on!

Bootland no longer plays for the Wings. Their NHL expierence doesn't mean anything. Hussey is a decent faceoff man, but we don't a player like that. He really doesn't do anything else. Matt Ellis is useless. He won't make this team. I always pay attention to detail.
-
And now that Eklund said it, they'll all be signed to new contracts before they go to arbitration!
-
Hey Lou, I like the change you made to your signature.
-
Matt Hussey is not an NHL player.
-
When has anybody ever said he'd be a top 6 forward? I've said it all along: He'd be a good fit on the 4th line here. Since we're strapped to play Hudler, we might as well play him on the second line, since we have no other choices. I never said play Asham as a top line player, as he is not that at all. But he still is a good fit for the 4th line.
-
Do you still even watch them?
-
Yeah, well I'm right though. People who actually think Samulesson and Kopecky are more effective players then Asham or Gelinas really are *******. Or just plain stupid. I'm tired of this "Let the kids play. It worked in Anaheim" bulls***. I don't mind playing them, but it's the Anaheim comparison that I really hate. Hudler, Kopecky, and Grigorenko aren't even in the same league as Getzlaf, Perry, and Penner. I hate that comparison so much, because it's so far off base.
-
3 North American forwards. Wow. Boy, I can't wait for the European jokes about the Wings from the media to start up again next year. At this rate, they'll be flying around like mad!
-
Agreed. In fact, I think Boogard has a better chance of becoming a 50 goal scorer then ever playing a game with Detroit. Holland would much rather sign a small, scrub center named Sven Andersson out of the 3rd tier Swedish league.
-
Size that I have never seen him use in his entire stint with Detroit. Just sayin'...
-
Because I've watched him play before, and he's exaclty what the Wings need. Believe it or not, I do watch players that don't play for the Wings. But whatever. We'll never both agree on this. Let's just agree to disagree.
-
No he didn't. Bertuzzi dropped the gloves with Phaneuf because Phaneuf said something to him. He didn't actually stick up for anyone else on the Wings though. Bertuzzi is a horrible comparison, since he was not a factor at all during his time here.
-
You're probably forgetting Grigorenko, whom everybody insists should be given a roster spot given his stats in Russia.
-
Did I say it would turn the Wings into the Ducks? Did I? I don't seem to remember doing so. One decently gritty player is better then nobody. Which is exactly the kind of situation the Wings are in right now. I mean, these guys like Kopecky and Samulesson are just wasted space. A player like Asham would be a huge step up for those spots. I never said one signing would change everything around. For that to happen, Holland would probably need to be removed as GM, since he never drafts gritty players anyways. But signing Asham would give the Wings somebody that would actually stand up to an opposing player that decides to take liberties to someone on the Wings. Who do the Wings have that will do that now? Nobody.
-
Why should it be automatic that guys like Grigorenko get a roster spot (which is what I assume your saying)? He has done nothing to prove himself in North America. Or Kopecky for that matter. What exactly has he done to earn himself a roster spot on this team? Tell me, what? 1 point in 26 games. At that same time, his so called gritty play is a complete myth by all sense. Yeah, but you see, he won't. If he signs anybody (I have a feeling anyways) it'll be a Greg Johnson type player.
-
Same here. I can't believe the amount of people here that think Asham would be a horrible signing and would rather give the ice time to someone like Samulesson or Hudler. I have a good mine to say that the Wings "***** montra" has began to rub off on the fans. Christ. You need your head checked if you don't think Asham will be a good fit on this team.
-
That they are. Which is exactly why they should be signed. But, I have lost faith in Ken Holland. Instead, I see him making another Greg Johnson type signing. Aka player that the Wings don't need at all.
-
Yes. It was exteremely apparent last season and this season.
-
Depth forward you say? *builds giant neon sign* Arron Asham Kenny! Sign Arron Asham!
-
O'Neill is afraid of flying. That won't work on a Detroit team that plays at least 12 games on the west coast and at least 18 games in cities not accessable by bus.
-
Now let's hear the consensus of the salary. Judging by Hollands shyness to sign guys so far, I'm thinking Hasek is going to break the bank with this one.
-
That's so true!
