I understand your disappointment, but I'm not quite as mad as I thought. Mainly because Hnidy didn't fight last year as much as I had thought. It's still stupid Holland missed out again though! Damn it Kenny! Get your s*** together already!
-
He was terrible in Vancouver. I'm not quite sure about how he did in LA, but I do know his second stint in Vancouver was much to be desired.
-
NO. If Kenny even had the balls to do that, for one thing, he'd be screwing the Wings for the next 10 years, because it will piss off every GM in the league, just like Bobby Clark and Ryan Kesler. Our RFA's in the future will be in grave risk. It's an unwritten rule: Don't offer up a contract to another teams RFA. Brent Sopel sucks. Talk about overpaid defenseman.

Holland is getting his ass kicked by Burke so far this offseason. I wouldn't be surprised if Burke is stealing his lunch money too. Chirst Kenny. Get your s*** together. Although Hnidy doesn't really fight as much as some of the other options like Sutton, he still would have been a great replacement for Markov. But, at this point, that option is no longer there.

Good move for the Sabres. Thibault is a great backup. If Miller bombs next season, they have a great insurance option. I always liked Thibault. I feel bad that he always has had hip problems though, since that's limited his effectiveness. I still think he's a good goalie though, so it's a good signing on Buffalo's part.

I wonder if the Islanders are taking the Anaheim approach this season. Yesterday they already signed another big time fighter, Kip Brennan (name ring a bell Lou? ). Although I have to say Brennan is a lot better of a fighter then Bootland, they might still be taking that approach.
-
Hahaha, looks like you called it. He was already banned again. Arr! Avast Cap'n OsGOD! tat betr not ben' directed at me!
-
Ah. I can breathe again. I would have ripped Holland up and down for weeks if he would have signed Guerin. Definitly not what the Wings need. Looks like the Islanders continued their usual trend of overpaying players way more then their worth. First Fedotenko, now Guerin and Comrie. That's like a triple whammy!
-
Not like he was ever going to make it here anyways. He wasn't all that great of a fighter to begin with, and Lou, I think you can agree with me. There are a lot better choices for players who can do his job.
-
Nothing. If a team walks away from an arbitration ruling, that player is automatically a UFA. As was the case last year with Vitaly Vishnevski, who was let go by Anaheim and later signed by Atlanta.
-
I'm surprised Rivers hasn't gone to Germany or Switzerland yet. Oh well. I give him credit for hanging in there. He wasn't that bad in his short time here.
-
It's ridiculous, isn't it? But, I don't think I need to go into that crap again.
-
Good. Now I can finally stop hearing about what a good fit he'd be here, which he wouldn't.
-
Offer sheets are stupid. It's a good way to burn your bridges with pretty much every GM in the league. Hint: Bobby Clarke.

There's only one slight problem... there are no big name free agents left. I think people just want Holland to sign some just for the sake of doing so. I mean, I keep hearing these names like Alexei Yashin, Mike Comrie, etc. These guys are the exact opposite type of players the Wings need, yet everybody wants Holland to open up the check books for these guys. I don't get it, since there is really not many names left that would help the Wings at all.

Well said, once again Harold. We both think alike in this situation. I wish others would not be so blind to the lack of grit/fighting issue also, since it seems only a select few actually know it's a problem.
-
I think that was only a rumor. Or maybe they did.
-
Scratch Kopecky for Asham and you got yourself a pretty good 4th line.
-
He won't last 10 minutes in Calgary. Eriksson is too nice of a guy. Iron Mike will be running him into the ground in practice.
-
Oh, I already have Isbister on my team. He's on my 3rd line. May is a good choice though. Could always use more toughness, you know.
-
Good thinking. I would somehow like to add Asham and Winchester all at the same time, with Vasicek or maybe Mike York also thrown in there. Unfourntantly, the Hudler signing puts a bind on that. Him and Samulesson really screw up my roster plans. Oh well. There's always NHL 07! I should make these rosters and see how they do.
-
Umm... what? Dom is no replacement for Lundqvist, so that should be thrown out the window right now. As far as a backup goes for the Rags, Al Montoya will succeed that role.
-
I really think it is, which I don't understand why. The Wings won 3 Cups, done on the fact we had grit on those teams. Now what is Holland trying to do? Test new boundries by winning a Stanley Cup with a predominitly European team, 3 North American forwards and very little grit at all? If he want to sign Euro's, why can't he sign the gritty ones like Ville Niememen or Evgeny Artyukhin? No, instead, he signs everything far from that, like Samulesson. Ugh.
