Good links there Harold. Now people can finally see what I'm talking about with Asham. I don't get it. Why does half of this board think a useless scrub like Samulesson is any better? Asham is aggresive and fights people. Samulesson doesn't do anything except rapid fire shots at the goalies chest. I can't believe you guys are so dense to this. Sign Asham now Kenny! Well said. Thank God some people here actually realize what's left, which is nothing. Everybody keeps going off in this "We need a top 6 forward!!!!!!11one!1!!1" montage. But, they keep seemingly forgetting that there isn't s*** left in the UFA market for top 6 forwards. Guerin is not a bad option in my opinion, but he won't come here. Besides that, he isn't worth 3.5 million a season, since he is a playoff ghost. Now, that's the biggest name left. Who else is after that? Nobody! Oh, I'm sure I'll see some stupid like Alexei Yashin retort thrown here, which I'm not even going to bother replying to. You all know my feelings of what kind of player, and person, Yashin is. He isn't going to help this team in a dicks way possible, so no one should even suggest it.
-
Bondra will probably sit out until December, and then be picked up by a bad team that doesn't want to play 3 lines of rookies. I wouldn't take him. He's on thin ice (no pun intended) in the NHL, and isn't the top name he used to be. Old age, injuries, and declining production have all taken their toll on him.
-
Not possible.
-
Obviously not many are big on the Asham signing. Oh well, I still stand by it. By the way, I never said he would be a top 6 forward. I want him on this team because he will fight, something that nobody on this current team would even think of doing (no, Lilja doesn't count either). Just getting that out there. Also, I've never made any suggestions for top 6 signings, since there isn't dick left in that market. Bill Guerin won't come. So who is else is left? Comrie? Yashin? Give me a break. Now, on with the backstabbing!
-
Samulesson scored 11 goals, not 20. Hey, coincidence here: Arron Asham also scored 11 goals! Asham is also a much better player then Samulesson, since he is more aggressive and fights people! I should send a memo to Ken Holland and tell him this. Apparently he doesn't see it yet, since I still see Samulesson's name on the roster and Asham's is not!

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Lindros yet. I highly doubt he's on anyways radar (anyone who is sane, that is).
-
We're you actually banned or was it just coincidental that your account was deleted? The free agent list is very depleted at this point. I don't expect the Wings to take a chance on anyone who's currently left. Guerin, who's the only one left worth anything, probably won't sign here anyways, since he likes to play in "no pressure" markets. He'll probably go back to St. Louis or another non-playoff team.
-
Mike York had a terrible season last year. Unless a second line center who probably wants more then he's worth is your fancy, he's not the type of player we need.
-
Babcock apprently doesn't like Czechs. But he does like Swedes. I can't understand why he like's Samulesson. He's so useless on this team. His spot could go so much better to someone like Arron Asham or Jason Weimer. Samulesson is just dead weight on this team, and I keep hoping I see a trade on TSN involving Detroit getting rid of Samulesson already.

Exactly one of the reasons I don't post there. Bunch of damn stiffs at that place.
-
This was in the Onion a while back. Nevertheless, still funny.
-
Yes he is. Edmonton chose not to give him a qualifying offer.
-
I was starting to believe that until the Berkhoel mention. Those are some nice looking lines. You should be GM. Fire Holland!!!!!!!!1

The only problem is that not many of those guys exist in free agency anymore. Everyone keeps saying Alexei Yashin, like they seem to know something about him that I don't. What I know about him is that he is the prototypical lazy, greedy Russian. He has a lot of talent, but is so damn lazy and unmotivated that he never shows it. But yet, everyone thinks that if he comes to the Wings he will resurect his career. People always act like the Wings are some team built off of magic: That any useless scrub can here and put up 30 goals and 80 points every season. Sorry to say it, but even if Yashin came here, he would not do that. He plays hockey solely for the money. He has never showed an ounce of desire or will to win in his life. So why is it that people think that's who the Wings need to sign? (not saying you motorcitykid, I'm talking about everyone else).
-
Same here. I love fighters, and wish the Wings had more. I know I've been taking my licks here the past few days, but I still stand by what I said. Any one of those guys would be a major asset to the Wings.
-
I said "If he's lucky" because of the fact that I'd be very surprised if Babcock played him more then 7 minutes a game. You and I know both know what's going on there. The fact that Kopecky was called in before Hudler during the playoffs is enough to know.
-
Oh Christ. You're going to compare Hudler to Dino? They could have easily signed both Smyth and Hasek. That would just mean no Bertuzzi (who ditched us anyways). We got 4 now! Good to see. Now then: Hudler's production will depend on ice time. Fairy tale ice time: He could score 30 goals. Reality (because we all know Babcock doesn't like Hudler at all): 10-15, if he's lucky.

Asham is on mine and your radars though.
-
Then I'll stop. By the way, I think that's the first time I've seen you reply in non-pirate talk in a very long time.

Allison is extremely out of shape. He hasn't played in over a year, and survives souly on the PP. When he's playing even strength, he looks totally lost, due to his very slow foot speed. He's no longer an effective player at all in any stretch of the imagination. McCauley is a center, which is not what the Wings need. Though I do admit he is a more attractive offer then Mike Comrie. Scatchard would be a great fit if it wasn't for his injury last season. That, and he's a center. Still though, as a big, gritty guy who can score goals (27 goal scorer during the 2002-2003 season), and throw down the gloves, he is a pretty good option. I wouldn't mind seeing him come here. Vasicek is an ok option, since he is big, has scoring potential, and isn't afraid to throw his weight around. Doesn't really fight a whole lot though, but he could still be a decent fit here. He could play the top 6 role if need be, and I like him a lot more then Hudler. Bondra is clutching at straws to keep an NHL job. He's almost in his 40's, and injuries along with declining production don't exactly strike me as a good sign. That was a very off in left field list there. Overall, my order would be this: Scatchard or Vasicek > McCauley > Bondra > Allison

I never said I hate every player that isn't a Red Wing. There are a ton of players in the league that I like that don't play for the Wings. Joe Thornton is my favorite non-Red Wing player. My next favorite is Derek Boogard. Any more questions? I just don't like Bertuzzi. I did like him when he played on the Wings, mainly because I figured he could help us. But since he's gone, and no longer on the team I root for, I have no reason to like him. As for anyone else is concerened: It isn't a "Red Wing or not" thing. There are plenty of players in this league that I like that don't play for the Wings. Most of them fighters. Still, that's irrelevant. Bertuzzi is the exception though, since I never liked him before he came here. I figured he would help us, so I changed my opinion of him. Now that he's gone though, and really didn't help us like I had thought, I have no reason to like him anymore. Why do you care so much anyways? You like Bertuzzi. I don't. What's the big deal?
-
I never hated Lang as a person. I just hated Lang as a player. Mainly because he has a lot of talent that he chooses not to use. Instead, he chooses to be lazy (sound familier?!).
-
Yep. Those 3 posters are you, me, and Lou. We can all agree one thing: Asham to Detroit! Pull the trigger Kenny!!!!!!!1
-
Oh Christ. I'm a homer because of that? I could have pulled a Draperfan and just ranted on and off until I turned blue about him. At the time though, I was in favor of the move, because the Wings needed a player like Bertuzzi. But after the way he played here, which he was basically useless, that notion soured on me. I still wanted him back, because I believed he could still be a factor if healthy. But now, after seeing he left because Holland wouldn't fork over money he's not worth, well that's the straw that broke the camel's back. It isn't just about the length, like you all like to believe. The real fact is cash dollars, and Bertuzzi wanted a lot more then he's worth. Greed at it's finest.
