Arnott, Legwand, Radulov, Weber, Hamhuis (sp?), Mason. Those aren't exactly retreads. Still though, if guys like Ramzi Abid are going to be logging big minutes now, it might be safe to use "retread" as a describing word. That roster is only getting shorter.

1. Chicago Blackhawks 2. Boston Bruins 3. New York Islanders 4. Toronto Maple Leafs 5. St. Louis Blues Honerable mention goes to LA and Phoenix.

I smell smoke. *flicker* Uh oh! It looks like a fire! Not just an ordinary fire though. A fire sale! Wow. They are seriously smashing that team into pieces. Now, if they trade Arnott, Legwand, Radulov, or someone else of important value, there really is a problem! I mean, Chris Mason is a capable NHL goalie, so this deal makes a little sense in that view. Still though, I'm senseing a fire sale here.

...and what? Pay up the ass to get him? Sorry, but I'm not big on Iginla anyways. His goonage during the playoffs this year was a major turnoff.

I can't believe Montreal passed up on Esposito. Stranger then that, they took an American instead! Guess it isn't so french-canadian biased after all. Another surprise was how far Cherepanov slipped down. #17 overall? Surely I thought he would be a top 10 pick. Just like the Wings actually using a 1st round pick, this draft is full of oddities!

Damn it all! I would have killed to see Bell in a Red Wing uniform. F U Toronto! And for all you Bell haters out there: Please, get your head checked. Bell is awesome. One bad year doesn't warrent someone as a cancer. I love the guy. He's gritty, hits, fights, and scores goals. Too bad Toronto got him instead. The Leafs also (finally) get a decent goalie for once. Raycroft sucks ass, so I expect Toskala to nab the starting job from him like taking candy from a baby. It's weird seeing JFJ make an actual good trade, but I guess everyone can do it at some point (still waiting on Eklund getting a trade right though ).

I'm as shocked as anyone to see the Wings draft in the first round. A canadian at that! Great pickup Kenny! Obviously another defenseman being drafted is a bit tedious, but this is great. A good North American defenseman is always a nice pick up.

That doesn't matter. Who were Doan's linemates this season? Mike Comrie? And that was for about only half the season. After that I can't even remember who's left on that team (no, Roenick was never a first line center in Phoenix either, since him and Gretzky hated each other).

Eat a bag of dicks. I swear, some Ducks fans are real ******* losers. I thought we'd be done seeing this bulls*** now, but hey, that would only be in a perfect world. In short, f*** off. You have no place here if your sole purpose is to troll. Hah! No way. Unless I'm making fun of Langfeld, he won't even be thought of as my avatar. My avatar is Brad Isbister. I'd love to see the Wings sign him as a 3rd/4th line forward. He's 6'4, hits, fights, and is a former 20 goal scorer for that matter. He'd be a great fit here.

I would love to see Kyle Turris here. But is it a real life possibility? No, it isn't. Unless Zetterberg is involved, but there is no player in the league that can score and be a two way force like Zetterberg. No way would I give him up for an unproven rookie. I have to wonder why you would include Forsberg on that list also. He makes Kronwall look like an iron man with how much he's injured. You know, in the pre-salary cap days it would possible, but not now. If the Wings re-sign all the needed players (Hasek, Bertuzzi, Schneider), there is very little to work with at all. Even Smyth (who I'd love to have here by the way) is a stretch.

It'll never happen. The Flyers are sort of an anti-Russian team anyways. Ed Snider, the owner/chairman is one of these old school guys that still consider them to be "damn Commie bastards".

what are our chances of keeping our 1st rd pick ?

In that case, I'll bet that's what Kenny and Bertuzzi's agent are fluttering over right now. It wouldn't surprise me if they already have a deal in place, but are waiting until free agency so they don't have to give up the pick. Something tells me Kenny is still planning to use the pick as trade bait. I can't imagine who he's after, but I hope to God it's Mark Bell. -

Don't the Wings have to drop the pick if they re-sign Bertuzzi? I thought that was part of the compensation Florida got when we made the deal. Regardless, I don't see the Wings using it. There are no up and coming small skilled Swedes in this years draft. -
Finley is still with Boston's farm team. He was called up for 2 games this year, and ended up leaving both games early because of a groin injury. He's toast. If he's having multiple groin injuries this early in his career, he's never going to make it. Finley is only 25 I think, and he's already had about 3-4 serious groin injuries.

I can't believe Pavel Brendl didn't make the worst pick list either. #4 overall pick in 1999, and has only played 78 games in his career so far, with an un-inspiring 22 total points. Add in the fact that the man is even lazier then Lang (Hurricanes fans even named him Krispy Kreme because he was so out of shape), that makes him a pretty deserving candidate on the list of shame.

The worst draft on record was the 1996 Draft. Only 4 of the 26 first round draft picks have scored more then 100 NHL goals so far (J.P. Dumont, Dainius Zubrus, Marco Sturm, Daniel Briere). Only 5 have reached 200 career points (Previous 4 mentioned plue Derek Morris). The most disturbing stat of that draft? At least 11 of the 26 first round draft picks have failed to play at least 100 NHL games so far (Alexandre Volchkov, Johnathan Aitken, Dan Focht, Josh Holden, Mario Larocque, Matt Higgens, Matthieu Descoteaux, Jeff Brown, Craig Hillier, Peter Ratchuk, Jesse Wallin). Many of these guys have either retired, or playing in Europe or the minors, so don't expect them to do it soon either. As it stands, most would say the 1996 Draft is the worst ever. The Draft did produce some decent talent though, like the ones I already mentioned in the beginning. In the later rounds, guys like Matt Cullen, Tomas Kaberle, Mark Parrish, Pavel Kubina, Zdeno Chara, Tom Poti, Oleg Kvasha, Sami Salo, Eric Belanger, Trevor Letowski, Andreas Dackell, Sami Pahlsson, Dan Hinote, Michal Rozsival, Aaron Asham, Jan Bulis, Toni Lydman, and a few others have all went on to have decent NHL careers. The later rounds of the 1996 Draft were pretty good when you think about, since most all of those guys I've mentioned are still in the NHL (with the exception of Kvasha and Dackell). In addition, many of them have scored at least or over 200 points in their career. So the draft wasn't a total wash, as it did produce some decent talent. But it did not produce any true star players, and it's very surprising to see that many 1st round picks go under.

I'm surprised he did. Surely a team could use a hard forchecker/goalie runner. He's good at it. My beef with Nieminen is what he did to Cujo back in the 2004 series against Calgary. He was running at him every other shift. Other then that though, I don't mind Nieminen all that much. In fact, the Wings should consider getting him for cheap. Dirty or not, he'd be a huge upgrade over Samulesson.
-
Umm, what? Babcock gave Lang much less ice time then about half of the 3rd/4th line players.
-
It's not really all that different. My take is that the Bruins should focus on changing their owner instead of their logo, but hey, that's just me. Jacobs is such a cheapskate!

When the opposing team has Hal Gill and Jamie Rivers on the ice at the same time.

Lindros is a little bit more physical then Antropov. It's a shame Lindros is such a mess now. He'd be a decent fit as a bargin forward for the Wings on the 2nd line. But because of his injuries, I really hope the Wings don't even consider it. I mean, he shows his 5-10 games of great play every season (like Antropov but better), but the rest is history. It wouldn't be worth it.
-
Yes. He started the 2005-2006 season with the Sharks, scoring 2 goals and 9 assists in 39 games before being claimed off of waivers by Boston.
