This has been rumored for weeks now. Something tells me that, with the magnitude of these rumors, it might just happen. It also helps they aren't "Eklund based". I almost think he has a nagging injury of some kind. I mean, sure, he's won everything, but if he likes playing the sport, then why not play it for as long as you can?

It's a bit of stertch to say Samsonov is any better then Williams (note: This is coming from probably the biggest Williams hater you can find on these boards. That man is terrible at hockey, and how he ever became a second line player on this team is a mystery best left unsolved). But still though, Samsonov was hardly the deciding factor in Edmonton's playoff run. It was mostly Roloson. I give Markkanen credit for stepping in and playing well, but they never would have went that far with him all along? No way. Conklin wouldn't have been any better either. Roloson got them were they needed to go, not Samsonov. Samsonov was just kind of "there".

Good point. Look at the way they manhandled us back in February. That game was an absoulute joke. They pushed the Wings around like a paper bag.

The Leafs won't sing Kariya. If you didn't play on the 2006-2007 Leafs team, you're not playing there at all. That's the way Toronto works. Keep bringing back the same people every year, and finishing right up in 9th place, back from all the good picks, and yet still out of the playoffs. That organization is one for the future. Hey, maybe Nik Antropov just might pan out this year!

I smell smoke... *flicker* You hear that sound? It sounds like a fire... a fire sale! This is all falling into place so fast. With Kariya gone, along with Hartnell and Timonen, that team drops off really fast. Blackberry's has this mapped out pretty well. Good reference with Major League too, as this is exactly what this is. Make the team horrible and bomb the season, and the fans don't come. Considering hockey is in the fog in Nashville, the fans won't want to go watch a bad team. Their all but gone now. As for Karyia: He won't come here. I just have the feeling he wouldn't.

The Ducks weren't dirty in 1993-1994. The only guys even close were maybe Todd Ewen or Garry Valk, and they were mostly fighters anyways, not dirty players. Bad comparison.

Rumor: Blue Jackets may buy out Fedorov's contract
Kp-Wings replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
Doesn't matter if he can play defense. I still don't want him back. The way I look at it: What he did was un-forgivable. I'm not going to boo him, as I'm against that. But I do not, under any circumstance, want him back on this team. It doesn't really help that he's pretty hard to motivate, and I don't think coming back here would do it. The Wings were great these playoffs, and like Harold said, gave themselves a new identity of being a more gritty, physical team. And you want to bring in a washed up Fedorov that is the farthest thing from that? Bad idea. -

My God. The love for Fedorov on this board is sickening. We already have Grigorenko coming in. He's going to get a spot, no matter what. He won't settle for a 13th forward, or being demoted to the minors. If he is, then it's back to Russia he goes. So why risk that happening just to bring back Fedorov? Ugh. I wish Fedorov would retire already, and NOT in a Wings jersey. I'm getting so sick of people wanting him back. He's useless. -
It's a perfect term to describe someone of Downie's charecter. You know, isn't it just fitting that he happened to be drafted by the Flyers? I mean, he is a true Flyers-type player. To be that, you have to be a true *******, and have no soul. That's Downie right there.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=211070&hubname=nhl Not an official report as of yet, but this is a real joke if it's true. After finally getting the world biggest under-achievers to the SCF, there is no reason for him to be fired. They weren't even in the playoff race at Christmas. What strange times in the NHL.

A fluke team riding a hot goalie doesn't automatically make you a good GM. That team wasn't that good, but all of there oppenents, until New Jersey, decided to roll over and die (including the Wings that year).
-
He'd be a great draft choice. The way he stood up to Downey like that shows he isn't afraid of anyone. Downie is a ******* prick. He really is. He has treated so many people like s*** in juniors, it's not even funny. I hope he flops big time in the NHL, because he really is a jerkoff.

Yeah, it is. You can thank some of the morons in here who continue to ***** about it.

My point that I'm trying to prove here is that the Wings most certainly have had dirty players on this team before. Everyone thinks they haven't. It's not just because they don't like him is what makes me mad. It's saying that he would totally ruin the team if he was brought here. They all act like Holland would be signing Satan on the team. (and no, I don't mean the guy who plays for the Islanders either) I know Hartnell is a douchbag, but he is somebody that the Wings could use. Quite frankly, I'm sick of everyone going off on this whole "classy" thing, acting like the Wings have never in their franchise history carried a dirty player. It's just annoying. I don't give a two-s***s if the guy is dirty. If he can help us win a Cup, then who the f*** cares? Just because we didn't do it with a team full of Chinese Sages makes it not count or something? Apparently here it does, which is why everyone is still screaming over Anaheim winning. The point that I'm trying to make is this: People shouldn't deny the fact that Hartnell would help this team very much, even if they do hate him. He may be a dirty SOB, but the man still scored 22 goals while playing on the 3rd line with a bunch of nobody's. Saying that he wouldn't help this team is just ridiculous, dirty player or not. edited for grammar

NO. f*** that. -
You guys are all a bunch of babies when it comes to Hartnell. It's so funny hearing everyone on here ramble on like "HE SHOULD NEVAR WEAR A WING JERSEY THE CHEAP BASTARD!!!!!!!!!!!1" and all this stuff about how the Wings have never had dirty players before, so why start now. That's bulls***. Ulf Samulesson was the dirtiest player in the league when he was still playing (yes, as a matter of fact, I do consider on the level of Turtle). Jamie Macoun? Remember him? Slashed Pat LaFontaine in the face in his first season in Buffalo, in which LaFontaine only played 9 games. Or should I bring up Fischer's cross-check on Tommy Westlund in the 2002 playoffs? Everyone would act like it's a first time in history for a dirty player on the Wings if we got Hartnell. Well, it wouldn't be. Stop being so blind to that just because you don't like him.

PRONGER IS A MEANEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!11one11!!!!!!!!!!1 Explination complete.

This is exciting. Now if only Balsillie sells out the rest of the team and they suck, then this so called "rivalry" will go down the s***ter, where it belongs.
-
Oh for God sakes... Dom threw the Cup at the bottom of a pool when he had it. Other players have had their children baptized in it (Sylvain Lefebvre). Some players have pissed on it actually. It's nothing new. Just give it up already with the Ducks goon s***. It's done and overwith. Christ.
-
Timonen probably would have been re-signed under the old regime. But since the team is moving, I guess they decided to unload him to make the Preds worse so the fans don't come.
-
Let's hope Chicago, St. Louis, or Columbus plays mildly competitive next season, because the way this looks now, the Wings will need a new division rival. Nashville won't be putting up much of a fight.
