Serious Talks Of Expansion...And The Wings Moving East
Kp-Wings replied to Sleight's topic in General
Seattle can't support a team. Key Arena is like some kind of Stone Age renderation of a sports venue. The NHL would never even think about having a team play out of there. -
I cannot agree with that statement at all. Leafs fans hate McCabe. Just ask MacK_Attack, he'll tell you. Miami has so many more golf courses though. It'll be a good way for old Chris to kill time when he gets eliminated from the playoffs.

That would be a nice logic, if it wasn't for the fact that NBC doesn't exist in Canada.

Serious Talks Of Expansion...And The Wings Moving East

Houston would be a great addition for a so called "non-traditional market". I mean, look at the Stars. You can't really call Dallas a huge hockey town, but they sell out mostly every game, and have good fan support. I think Houston would be a great city to have a town in. I hear the Toyota Center is also a pretty nice arena too, which makes it all the more easier. -
Rosanna Tavares the meteorologist? I'm going to bet on the Habs taking Angelo Esposito. They have a knack for taking the hometown french canadian boys up there, and he should be a good fit on that team. I also noticed you had the Wings taking another Swedish player. What a surprise.
-
As for next year? She'll want to move to Florida, so the Panthers will be his next team.
-
Should have added "future" pitching depth then.

In 2002-2003 they made it to the East finals, but lost to New Jersey in 7 games.

Damn. I was hovering around the top 10 last time, and now I fall back down to 20th overall? Oh well, it's still a pretty good score. Congrats zetterisbetter! -
Serious Talks Of Expansion...And The Wings Moving East

Kansas City Scouts all time record: 27-110-22 This is through the 1974-1975 season and the 1975-1976 season. After that, the team moved to Denver and became the Colorado Rockies. All in all, the last franchise in Kansas City was a major bust. It certainly is a possibility to move back there, with a new arena, and interest from the city. Who only knows. -
Colorado doesn't have enough talent to win the Cup next year. That, and their GM doesn't know how to build a winner. Now that all of the assholes are gone, I really have no hate for Colorado anymore. In fact, I think Joe Sakic and Milan Hejduk are the last remaining members of the 2001 Stanley Cup team, and the rivalry with the Wings in general. The Av's have gone through a lot of changes since then, and the hate just isn't there anymore.

You lucky son of a *****. I would kill just to even touch the Stanley Cup, let alone hoist it. Heh, that is pretty cool that you got to do that though. Congrats!

Serious Talks Of Expansion...And The Wings Moving East

Jesus Christ. Has Bettman not learned anything yet? One of his expansion teams has yet to even make the playoffs in their entire history (Columbus). Not to mention the fact that the league is so watered down right now. All expansion does is give people like Jordin Tootoo a roster spot on an NHL team. God damn it. Even if it did mean the Wings would move east, I still don't want it to happen. There are too many teams in the league right now as it is. I really almost think if he puts up two more teams, he actually thinks the ratings will go up. I'm getting vibes that that's what he thinks. Haha, we definitly would. The East, with the exception of maybe 4 teams, is so utterly weak. -
Yeah, and then he'd be hated by basically every GM in the league. There's a reason why people didn't like to deal with Bobby Clarke when he was still a GM.
-
Yep, that's what I think. And just remember: A few years ago, Pavel Vorobiev (unibrow) made comments to the media that Chicago was anti-Russians, which is why he went back to play in Russia this season. If there was any truth to this, Chicago wouldn't want Cherepanov. Excellent point about Washington. George McPhee likes drafting Russians, and it makes good sense to put Cherepanov and Ovechkin on the same line together. And it's not like comparing Datsyuk to Ovechkin either. Cherepanov and Ovechkin would be a great fit, and their both close to being the same age, and both probably know each other. Datsyuk is about 7-8 years older than Ovechkin, and they totally different personailitys. I don't know too much about Cherepanov, but something tells me he is quite similar to Ovechkin.

He is not a UFA. It would be impossible for him to be one anyways, since he's only 22 years old.
-
Jerry's impression of him saying that in that episode was almost perfect too.
-
Yep, because outside of their one playoff blunder, they both have had such horrible careers. Should be in the minor leagues, you know? God damn it. I'm so tired of people always going on about "Oh, Steve Smith sucks 'cause he scored on his own net!!!!!!!!11". It was purely accidental. Besides that, he still had a decent career after that incident, playing up until the mid to late 90's. He's wasn't a bad player. Same goes for Phillips. Chris Phillips was a guy that I really wanted the Wings to go after until Ottawa gave him an extension. His one mistake doesn't make him a bad player. People need to start figuring this out.

You should have gotten the hint when I deleted the post that I re-considered what I was saying. Let's just drop it. This is such a pointless argument anyways.

Good idea. I expect Kyle Turris to be taken #1 overall. The scouting reports on him have been really good, and he scored an impressive 66 goals and 55 assists for 121 points. Most scouts believe he'll go #1 overall this year. Cherepanov will drop. Despite his record setting season in Russia, the lack of a trasnfer agreement will surely drop him from being the clear cut #1 overall. He has the talent, but his work ethic, along with the lack of transfer agreement, will come to play. Don't know too much about everyone else yet. Jakub Voracek and Angelo Esposito are supposed to be pretty good players. The draft doesn't have quite the talent level this year as in years past (some are actually calling it down right weak, but I doubt that), and I don't know too much about the other availble choices. I'll look up some of them later when I get the time. Oh yeah, by the way, if the Wings do use their first round pick, he'll probably be a Swedish guy. Like always, right?
-
He's a free agent next year, isn't he? Bleh. Ottawa should have him locked up by then anyways. Damn.

Did you register here just be a total dickhead?
