Players who have not yet been mentioned but would look darn good in th
Kp-Wings replied to hckypete96's topic in General
Some of those guys, like Carter or Nagy, I wouldn't even consider signing. I keep trying to tell everyone that Hartnell is the way to go here. The guy can come somewhat cheap, maybe around 2 million, and he's the perfect kind of player the Wings need. He has the potential to put up 30 goals, and at the same time, plays a gritty game, and even drops the gloves. Regardless of his past, like with Fischer and what not, I'd still welcome him here. He's exactly what the Wings need. -
Why exactly do you care what our perseption of the Ducks is? I mean, you guys probably call the Wings a bunch of European ******* on your message boards. It's our opinions. Just like you probably have your own opinion of the Wings, Sens, or any other team in the NHL. A few backlash comments aren't going to change how we feel about a team, so drop it.

Obstruction, Hooking, Slashing. Holding, Clutching, and Grabbing

If obstruction was taken out of the league, then Chris Pronger wouldn't have a job anymore. And the NHL couldn't afford to lose a poster boy, media ***** like Pronger. -
For a guy that's been here for a grand total of 6 days, you act like you own the place. Stop being such a dick. I'm not pretending to be a coach on here. Just because I don't want Fedorov back, that makes it look like I am? What do you want me to say? Come out totally lying and say he'd be a good fit here just to agree with you? The Wings need to move on. Fedorov, at this stage in his career, won't help much.

You've got to be kidding me. Brad Stuart will be lucky to be in the league for another year. He's an ok defenseman, but his dirty play makes even some of the worst players we've seen look nice. His cheapshots, like wrapping his stick around peoples neck and throats, is eventually going to piss off the wrong person, and I think you know what'll happen after that.

That was great watching him slug Perry in the face like that. I love Mike Fischer. What he did with Elden was so touching, it made me have a whole new respect for him. I really hope he wins the Cup this year. He deserves it.

I'd rather have Hasek. Fernandez and his rants will get old here, and fast. Also noted is the fact that he just came off of knee surgery, and hasn't played in a while now. The fact that Fernandez has been nothing but a borderline starter, at best, on a defense first team like Minnesota is enough for me to steer clear of him. If Hasek does retire, and the Wings are completely out of options, then maybe he would worth a look. Only if it comes to that though.

The Wings will never trade Maltby. And I certainly hope it never happens. I love Maltby, and he should retire a Wing.
-
That is a horrible comparison.

Congrats to Chelios. A true warrior. I'm kinda surprised he got it. Chelios is a great leader, but plays on a Western Conference team. Most of these awards are usually chosen by the idiots club on Versus (the panel), and are usually reserved for players in the Eastern Conference. Nice to see them finally break the trend.

Correct. I'll send your 1 free internet via FedEx. Actually though, as far as tough guys go, Gillies is no bum. He can really lay the beatdown on any opponents. I'm surprised that, with all the fighters the Ducks have this year, they didn't give Gillies a chance on the roster. He's skill is probably about the same as George Parros, and they wouldn't have had to give up any draft picks in the process. Heh, just my opinion though.

Chris Gratton is not a free agent, nor on the trade block. This discussion is over.
-
Trevor Gillies is the reason we lost to the Ducks, not Getzlaf! Get it right people! By the way, I'm prepared to give away a total of 1 internets if you can tell me who that is. Lou, I figure you should get this one.

I figured he'd get it. He is the go-to guy there. Good for him.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=209054&hubname=nhl Honestly, Canadians are so of the weirdest people I've ever seen. Here, a team from Canada makes the SCF, and yet they prefer to root for a team from California just because they have more Canadian players. I seriously can't believe how much the Canadian media has their collective lips glued to the ass of Chris Pronger. Is it only Americans, and perhaps the spare few Canadians, that actually see Pronger for the piece of crap he is? I guess so. This whole thing kinda makes me wonder that, if Mexico City had a team, yet their captain was Chris Pronger, they'd prefer to root for them rather than a Canadian team with a European or American captain. It's really funny, and stupid, when you think about it. So yeah, discuss if you want. I found this article really funny, simpily because the Canadian media prefers to root against a Canadian team. It's not only in Toronto. This is stuff coming out of Vancouver, and even Edmonton. The Pronger debacle must mean nothing to them as long as he's a "Good Canadian Boy".

Thank God some people in here are realist for once. Crymson, you win the LGW Conn Smyth in this topic, at least you should. I'm tired of all the nostalgia bulls*** that goes on here. Kozlov I really don't have a problem with returning, but Fedorov I do. Watching him play with Columbus is just disgusting. He phones it in out there more than Alexei Yashin. Now, before you give me the speech of "HE PLAYS ON A BAD TEAM!!!!!!!!!!111 FEDS RULZ!!!!!!!!!11" and all this other s***, consider this. I don't see some of the other guys on Columbus play as lazy and show no effort like Fedorov does. And they all make less money! The man is just playing out his years, that's it. He shows no desire to win at all, and I highly doubt he would if he came back here either. He's just as guilty as Lang. In closing I leave you this: Nostalgia does not win Cups, and neither does Sergei Fedorov. It's only conincedence that we haven't won a Cup since he left. Besides that, we didn't win every season he was here either. We both won and lost with Fedorov, and we can still win without him. I don't want him back.

Threads like these would be more effective had Maltby not just recently signed a new 3 year contract. Get with the times people. I'm really getting tired of all the Maltby hate that goes on around here too. He is still a great agitator, and takes the other team off his game. Some people have actually said Franzen should replace him. Now, nothing against Franzen, but he never says anything. He wouldn't fit the bill of an agitator quite like Maltby does. Besides, Maltby is still one of the most consistant defensive forwards on the team. So please, let's stop talking about his demise. I like him, and he's staying, so that's all that counts.

I would take the Barnaby of 10 years ago, but not now. He has a history of concussions. Besides that, he has said this season that he wants to start spending more time with his family, prompting the fact that he will probably retire.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=209244&hubname=nhl It looks like the Mike Milbury era, full of mockery and jokes a plenty, may finally be over for Islanders fans. No real reason was given, though it doesn't sound like he was fired. It's still interesting that he finally decided to take the handcuffs off. I guess he ran out of ways to drive that organization ever so deeper in the ground. While some of his moves, like Jason Blake or Rick Dipietro, payed off in the longrun, the dumping of so many other good players along with keeping Yashin around, is often what overshadows his tenure as GM. Don't get too excited though. It looks like the mentioned Yashin will remain with the team. And that, my friends, is the perfect recipe for a losing team. And more jokes!

When did I ever mention age as an issue?
-
Theres a difference. Kozlov is cheap and still has some decent play left in him. While I'd like to see the Wings get Hartnell instead, I'd welcome back Kozlov. If the salary issue does go into effect at the deadline, then maybe Fedorov isn't such a bad option. That is, if the Wings don't decide to sign anyone this summer. If the Wings do sign another center or something like that, then no, I really don't want him back.
-
Because this is LGW of course! I didn't mean to make the whole grit thing a national issue. I probably should have put it in a few less words. Drop it guys.
-
Yeah, well good luck actually getting Fedorov to play with passion. I'm not overrating Hartnell. The guy has the potential to be a 30 goal scorer, and plays with grit and an edge. He might not be a 100 point scorer like Fedorov *used to be, but at this point in time, he can be no worse then Fedorov. I can't believe the amount of people here that are in favor of getting Fedorov back. Sure, maybe when he's a free agent and dirt ass cheap, but not a f-ing 6 million a year contract. I'm sorry, but due to Fedorovs old age and lack of desire to win, he won't get the welcome mat from me.
