This is funny. Grigorenko doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of stealing a roster spot over Samulesson. Not because Samulesson is any better, but because Babcock likes Samulesson. In reality, that's what really matters. I'd like to see Grigs get a spot, but it won't be at the expense of Samulesson. Just because the fair amount of us here at LGW (myself included) don't really care for Samulesson, doesn't mean he'll be traded. It's who Babcock likes, and Babcock likes Samulesson. Face the facts: We're stuck with him.

Apparently you don't think much of Guy Hebert or Mikhail Shtalenkov. Hebert was truly the face of that team back in the 1990's. You can say what you want about Selanne or Kariya, but I truly consider him the face of the Ducks back then. It's only because the Ducks stunk pretty badly is the only reason he didn't get more recognition. He was a great goalie.

I really want Bertuzzi back. The summer off should do wonders for him, and hopefully he storms out of the gate next year and can stay healthy. If he can do that, he really will do some damage. Go Wings!

Why not sign both Hartnell and Bertuzzi? There, problem solved. Honestly, I think we could fit both of them under the Cap, provided Bertuzzi takes a paycut. Smyth is totally out of our league, and quite frankly, I say avoid the bidding war for him, and end up with the risk of dangerously overpaying him. Stuff like that doesn't always end well, and while Smyth isn't some scrub like Yashin or Kovalev, he might not make it here if he's under the microscope of a large contract.

By good pick, I hope you mean a first rounder. Hudler is not worth trading if we get anything less, because on another team he'll be awesome. Somehow, if Hasek retires, Hudler will be used as the trade bait for someone like Toskala. The only problem is San Jose's forwards are all 7 foot monsters, and might not want Hudler. If anything, the Wings may get a 3rd line player who can put up decent points, and is something of a physical presence. Replacement for Calder if you will. Or, maybe, we can get said first round pick. It all depends on what happens in the weeks ahead.

I like Kyle Calder, and hope he stays, but Kenny basically came out and said he won't be resigned (see topic: Holland talks about the playoffs). I think we can also expect Hudler to be gone. If not, then he'll be benched for someone, Kopecky probably, because Hudler and Babcock seemingly don't see eye-to-eye. Just my opinion anyways.

Clarke is such a bastard anyways, he could easily play both the protagonist and the antagonist. I smell a blockbuster! Regardless, Kesler is a good player. He just had some hard luck this year. He has great potential, and it's a good move by the Canucks to lock him up. Good signing all around.

No, but his last season as starter came back in 2003-2004. Ozzie will stick around as backup, but I highly doubt the Wings will make him starter, unless all other possible options are exhausted. I'm not saying Ozzie is bad or anything, but the Wings really want Hasek back. After Hasek is done, it will be Howard taking the reins. That's basically how Ken Holland and co. have it mapped out (as of right now).

Why is it always the players who are blamed? Why not, for once, have it be blamed on the purely bad luck the Wings had this round? I mean, for most every game the Wings outplayed Anaheim pretty badly. Anaheim was just the luckier team, and the Wings luck ran out. It's as simple as that. Of course, from morons like Bob Duff, who must be crying in his beer because the beloved Alberta teams both bombed this year, I can't expect much more. It's too much for him.

If Pronger would have done it, then yes, I would have been all over it for weeks. I hate Chris Pronger more than any player in the league (though Tootoo is a close second). I'm just a little suprised that this topic has gone to over 230 responses. But whatever, do what you want then.

If the Wings wanted him (Kotalik), I'd gladly take him. Send Buffalo Hudler (or Kronwall ) and a pick or something. They might go for it, since they really want both Drury and Briere back.

If your willing to put aside the Wings past with Hartnell, then theres your answer. Also a cheaper choice then Bertuzzi.
