Babchuk on the Trade Market Again

I'm just saying. The history between those two is deep, and not very nice either.

Should the Wings target UFA-to-be Giguere?

That's probably why the management won't sign Giguere, contract notwithstanding. You just basically answered your own question. The organization has high hopes for Howard, so they won't just toss him aside like a rag. I just hope he's as good as most say he is, since I never really seen him play all that much (expect for his little stint up here during the 2005-2006 season).

    Holland talks about playoffs

Not to be rude or anything, but that is a horrible assumption of how the situation went. Babcock was in love with Calder when he first came here, and he couldn't deny the fact that Calder was playing great. Something happened to poor Calder though, but I guess we'll never know what it is. I don't think it was Babcock though, since Calder fits into the type of player that Babcock likes. Hudler will probably be traded, and it's better he is. The Wings can address a more conerning need, like more toughness up front, and Hudler will never make it here as long as Babcock is coach. Sorry Hudler fans, but don't count on him staying.

    Eklunds Red Wings Rumors

His family lives on Long Island. The thing is, the Islanders are far from being Cup contenders. I mean, they did make the Ryan Smyth trade, but that's a wash now, since it got them nowhere, they lost a great player in Ryan O'Marra, and Smyth will probably leave anyways. Word is their also going to keep Yashin (yuck), and when Schneider sees that, he'll see that they are making no strides to win. Schneids wants to win another Cup, and he has a chance to do it here.

Should the Wings target UFA-to-be Giguere?

I'd rather keep Dom. He comes with a smaller price tag, and when he's on his game, is just as good. No Giguere. kthx

Babchuk on the Trade Market Again

If Karmanos caught wind of this plan, he'd cancel the whole thing. Karmanos would rather eat Babchucks salary up for the next 20 years then ever risk helping Illitch or the Wings. I really have my doubts about this now that Younguns pointed out the whole Karmonos thing. I'd still like to see Babchuck here though. If given the proper minutes, he could be a great defenseman. He could as be a great replacement for Kronwall, who will *probably* get injured again. But Kronwall is another subject for another day, so let's not talk about him right now.

    Holland talks about playoffs

Disagreement with the coaching staff? You be the judge. That sucks about Calder. If the Wings don't bring him back, then they better sign a player that plays just like him. I don't want to see some no name European out of the 3rd tier Swedish league come in instead. I'm not anti-Euro, but God damn it, this team needs more grit, and that comes mainly from North Americans. We have enough flashy players who can score, now we need more Dan Cleary type players.

Sooo, are you going to watch the Stanley Cup Finals?

Wait here... are you saying the NHL should have "stacked the deck" basically and blew these games so it was an automatic Detroit - Buffalo final? That wouldn't have worked for one thing. And with as bad as Buffalo played against Ottawa, it would have been increasingly apparent that something was going on. That Buffalo team wasn't even in the same league as Ottawa.

Season ticket letter from Kenny Holland

DeVos at least had a plan. All Granholm does is just cut back her losses, and she thinks everything will just magically turn around. She is a horrible governor, and is out of her league. The only reason she got re-elected is because of said Union. God forbid the Union doesn't get it's way. But, we'll save this for the political discussion forum.

Babchuk on the Trade Market Again

You found the one flaw. Now that you bring that up, count this trade out. It won't happen. Karmanos and Illitch would fight to the death if they were ever in the same room for more then five minutes.

Season ticket letter from Kenny Holland

Wouldn't suprise me then if Granholm is the problem. She is such a horrible governor. She is driving this state into the ground. It's a stretch, but dare I say Engler was a better governor? He probably was. At least the state wasn't in ruins when he was still in office. Still though, Illitch should lower the prices. The empty seats in the playoffs were proof that people just didn't have the money to spend.

    If Hasek were to retire...

Langfeld and Bootland are free agents anyways. So technically they can't be traded.

    If Hasek were to retire...

I'd trade Kronwall or Hudler. Kronwall because he is awful, and Hudler because he'll have a hard time making it here. Please note: I don't want all the Kronwall lovers coming after me because I don't think he's a good player. That's just my opinion. Let's keep this on topic. kthx

    If Hasek were to retire...

Huh, I completely forgot about Backstrom. Probably because of all the rumors of him re-signing in Minnesota. If he is avalible, he'd be great here. I'd love to see the Wings make a pitch for him.

Season ticket letter from Kenny Holland

Why doesn't Illitch just lower the prices already? For God sakes, the man has enough money. Stop screwing the fans over and driving the ones who can't afford it away. ...that is cool you got a letter from Kenny though. He is such a cool GM.

    If Hasek were to retire...

Some possible actions if Hasek retires: 1. Make a pitch for Giguere. While he will be expensive as hell, and I like to make pad jokes about him all the time, he'd still be a decent goalie to have. 2. Inquire about Vesa Toskala from San Jose. Surely a trade of something like Jiri Hudler, another prospect, and a draft pick could tickle their fancy. 3. See what other goalies are avalible in the free agent pool to split time with Osgood. Someone maybe like Jocelyn Thibault or another borderline type starter that can share the work load with Ozzie, then whoever is deemed starting goalie takes the spot come playoff time. 4. Play a Osgood/Howard tandem, if all else fails. As you can see, I would like to look at all possible options before we resort to Howard. Howard is just simpily not ready, and will be eaten alive if given big minutes. The most logical plan would probably be #3, being that the Wings go out and find a borderline starter that's like Ozzie, play them both, and whoever plays the best can be the starter. Or, the Wings can go for one of the big names. We'll wait and see what happens.

    Bargain Free Agent Targets?

Markov has actually expressed interest to stay in Montreal. This is why I said he'd make about the same as he does now. If he hits the open market, then it's a different story. That's what really sucks about it. A lot of defenseman in the league are going to use comparisons like McCabe and Kubina for contracts of their own. And since McCabe and Kubina both suck, it makes it easier for others to get a raise. The Leafs really screwed the rest of the league on this, and the funny thing is that it was not intentionally. This is their own stupidity coming out of it, and the rest of the league takes the hit too.

    Bargain Free Agent Targets?

Markov will command about what he makes now. While I admit, 2.5 million is a lot for him, he won't go as high as 4 million. Not all Russains are greedy.

    Bargain Free Agent Targets?

Kozlov? A former Wing? NO WAI!!!!!!!!!!11 Kozlov's a decent player, but I'm not all that big on bringing him back. The Wings need more Dan Cleary type players. They have good enough offense and scoring, now it's time to add more energy and grit.

    Is it just me...

Brodeur will never return to form unless the Devils get him a backup, or actually play Scott Clemmensen more then 5 games a season. Brodeur actually almost played all 82 games this year, which was probably why he stunk it up in the playoffs. ...but, knowing Lou, we'll probably see the same thing again next year. The Devils and Brodeur dominate, with Brodeur playing something in the range of 75-80 games. Then when the playoffs roll along, he bombs, and the Devils are done.

    2007 Baseball Season

The Cards are awful this year. Who could have thought they'd fall flat on their face like this? Tigers can't hammer past Cleveland for the AL lead. Hopefully Cleveland takes a nosedive or something, because I don't want to rely on the wildcard spot to get the Tigers in.

Psh, tell me about it. It must be his ego that makes his head so big. Never heard him actually speak, so I can't make any voice jokes. Damn.
