    Dump Hasek, Play Howard

Howards inconsistant AHL numbers didn't impress me this year. Just because he is the teams top prospect doesn't mean he should play right now. SWF is right about how this organization is always playing musical goalies. Just look at the order of starting goalies for the Wings since before 1997. It's basically been this: Osgood, Vernon, Osgood, Hasek, Joseph, Legace, Hasek. I mean, this is pretty ridiculous when you think about it. For the past 10 or so years, we've used a total of 7 different starting goalies. Some teams still have the same goalie 10 years ago as they do now. I too, for once, would like to see the Wings not play musical goalies and just stick with the same tandem for more then one season.

    The Predators have been sold.

The Leafs are a pretty pathetic organization, and if they keep pace like they have been for the last few years, I'm sure people will have no problem supporting a second team. If anything, the Leaf fans will at least go watch this new team when the Leafs play them.

You're dreaming a far beyond tale if you think the Wings would ever part ways with Draper. Honestly, just because you think he's past his prime, doesn't mean Ken Holland does. And as far as I remember, he's the one who calls the shots. Taylor Pyatt would be an excellent addition. He basically is a less dirty version of Scott Hartnell. He scored over 20 goals last year, and is a physical presence on the ice. I would love to see the Wings sign him.

    Congrats to the Ducks

Unlike Calgary, Edmonton, and the 2003 Ducks team, these Ducks are not the "cinderella" team of the playoffs. If anything, Ottawa is the underdogs.

    The Predators have been sold.

Balsillie only plans to move the team to Ontario. That's basically it. Kansas City is basically out of the question as far as that's concerned. Unless the NHL plans for another expansion.

Sooo, are you going to watch the Stanley Cup Finals?

I'll still watch. I'm still in a bad mood over the Wings losing, but I'll still watch the SCF. I mean, it's hockey, and it's the finals. Although, if if something comes up and I have other plans, I'm not going to drop them like I normally would if the Wings were still playing. When the Wings are out, it's just not the same.

Is that really true? Regardless, I still like Markov. I want him to stay.

The Mason-Dixon line is often used as the borderline for purists. While yes, it is mean, your right. It is the truth. Some cities in the south can't support a team. There are exceptions of course. Dallas, Tampa, and San Jose all have a great fan base. Carolina is also steadily improving their fan base also. So in any sense, it's coming along.

    Eklunds Red Wings Rumors

Hockey purist are we? If Lang made anything over 4 million, even in Florida, the fans would complain. There are people who are Panthers fans, mostly northern transplants who live in Miami, but still. If Lang made that much money, they certainly would care.

    The Predators have been sold.

Hmm, good point. I'm sure the NHL will do all it can though to preven another team being moved. I mean, it is Balsillie's call whether they move, but the NHL brass will probably do what it can to keep the team in Nashville. Basically, in the last 12 years, 3 teams have moved. The NHL probably doesn't want to make it 4. Atlanta is actually further West than Columbus, isn't it?

Didn't Sergei Zubov smoke during his days with the Rags? I remember reading a funny story involving him and Mike Keenan back on the 1994 Cup winning team.

Oh my God. Well... here goes... McCarty should just hang his skates up already. He's a dinosaur. You figure the way it was for him this season. He played in only 32 games, usually playing on a line with two other guys (Jeff Friesen and Jamie Lundmark) who, when McCarty was still healthy, were about as bad as he was. He didn't get a single point in that time frame. Then came his injury. A sports hernia, causing him to basically miss the entire rest of the season from December on. He's damaged goods now. There would be no point in bringing him back. All bringing McCarty back would do is clog up a roster spot that would normally go to someone better like Flip or Kopecky. In his old age, and his injury history, he really can't be a consistant fighter/tough guy anymore either. There are basically no positives for bringing him back. I know the guy was great here and all, and trust me, he'll always be one of my favorite Wings, but there is just no room for him here anymore. edited for grammar

    Shanahan

Exactly. After the 2006 playoffs, everyone was calling for Shanahans head, and basically said they wouldn't care if he left. Now everyone wants him back? I don't get it. Shanahan is prehistoric. There is no point on hanging on the past by bringing him back. His constant no-show in the playoffs was getting older then him. Besides, everyone forgets he left on his own. He didn't like Babcock, and is happy in New York. It's not even worth suggesting bringing him back.

Who else went to playoff games?

I did go to a playoff game this year - Game 2 against Anaheim. My uncle bought us all tickets, mainly for my Dad's and brothers birthday. Even though the Wings lost, I have to say, it was the most fun Wings game I've ever been too. The Joe is a blast during playoff time!

Markov is a warrior. He really is a badass. I really hope the Wings re-sign him. He quickly became one of my favorites this year.

    The Predators have been sold.

*waits for Nashville moving comments* I'm a little happy for the Preds. I always looked at Leipold as a horrible owner. Now, the question is whether Balsillie can get the much coveted corperate support the Preds need.

    Thanks for having me!

See you around Duckette. Enjoy the SCF. If we haven't already scared you off, then stick around for a while, if you like. Don't be a stranger.

    Congrats to the Ducks

When the series started, there were plenty. Their not here anymore, thank God. It just irks me thinking about them. That, and I'm still mad my Red Wings lost. I'll get over it though.

There is a member here (The Outsider) that is an Islanders fan. If he ever shows up again, ask him, as I believe he explained it pretty good once before.

    Chelios not shaking hands . . .

Perhaps that was a tad too brash. I should have reiterated that it's mostly Pronger who I couldn't stand to see win a Cup.

    Goodbye Red Wing Fans

Yeah, stay if you want. It'll be easier to talk about hockey in general and such now that the Wings aren't in it.

I would never sign Peca for the ridiculous amount the Leafs gave him this year. Maybe if he came cheap he'd be a nice fit, since he is a good leader, but again, it would have to be for cheap.

Hasek: "I may have played my last game"

I hope Dom comes back next year. He can be a bit crazy coming out of the net, but even at this stage of his career, he's still a hell of a goalie. He has the "win now" personality that I love. I have a feeling that he badly wants to win another Cup, so he could be back.

Blake is a cancer. Pass. I have mixed feelings about the whole Hartnell thing. Obviously, the guy is a dirty bastard and goes out of his way to injure people. Then again, he might be doing that because, as Peter Weber would say, that's is Predators hockey. Maybe he won't be that way if he played for another team. His ability to score goals, play physical, and fight is a can't miss. The only problem is he is a dirty player. That, and the fact that Fischer still hangs around the locker room, means it might not be a good idea to sign him. We'll see what happens I guess.
