    Second line center

No way Smyth will only ask for 5 million. He'll command the league max. This is why I'm not in favor of signing Smyth. We already have a league max amount in Datsyuk. And Holmstrom does the exact same thing Smyth does, if not better. I see no reason to sign Smyth. Since we want to discuss wingers now, here are two that would bring what the Wings need: Scott Walker and Martin Gelinas. Obviously Gelinas doesn't provide a whole lot of offense, but he does bring the ever so popular grit that the Wings lack. Walker would be the best choice, because he can score as well as hit/fight, but it seems he might re-sign with Carolina.

Conn Smythe winner if Wings win the Cup?

    Second line center

If that happens, then yeah, maybe we should focus on other things. But it still remains to be seen whether Datsyuk and Zetterberg will be broken up full time. His problems in Edmonton were that he hates Craig MacTavish. He's not alone, as pretty much everyone in Edmonton hates him.

    Ryan Smyth

Theres a difference. 3 of those 4 players play on a team (Toronto) where the management is so stupid that they will pay these guys huge amounts of money because they feel free agent signings will keep the fans coming into the building. Kaberle is really the only decent one out of the three anyways. McCabe sucks, and Kubina is a pylon. The only reason these guys make what they do is because the Leafs management is that stupid to do it. Besides Kaberle, any other team with normal management would not pay these guys even half of what they make now. Meanwhile, Jovanovski is probably one of the most injury prone players in the league. When he's healthy, he's worth every penny of what he makes. The problem is that he's never healthy enough to play good. I'm sure Schneider will command money, but he wants to win a Cup, and if he stays here he has a good chance to do it. I'm sure he'd stay if it came down to that. edited for grammar

    Second line center

The thing is, Datsyuk and Zetterberg will never (and shouldn't) be broken up. Draper is in no way a second line center, Filppula is still young, Cleary needs a true set up man to be consistantly productive, which we really don't have on the second line, and I really don't have that much confidence in Hudler. This is why I think Comrie would be a good choice for the Wings.

Game 3: Kopecky in, Calder out

Yep, that's pretty much what it was. Most everyone on XM hates the Wings. I know, because I have it myself. Probably the worst is either Phil Esposito or James "Boomer" Gordon. These two are just the most anti-Wings you can get. Esposito especially. He never played on a team that had a major rivalry with the Wings, so I really don't get what his problem is.

    Pistons vs. Wings

Same here. I watch the Pistons occasionally, but really, basketball just isn't my sport so it's hard for me to really get into it. I watch them sometimes and follow their progress and stuff, but it's not a regular thing with me. I've always liked baseball as my next favorite sport behind hockey. I played baseball a lot when I was little, and I enjoy watching the Tigers. It also helps that their a good team again.

"...good luck Ottawa and take your best shotawa."

I agree Loo. "Quit" is a strong word to label on a guy who was injured, and has a prior history of these said injuries. There was nothing Hasek could really do.

Lang is Lazy and He Sucks

Heh, so even when he *probably* leaves this summer, we can still remember the good old days of Lang jokes. I like it!

    Kunitz likely out for playoffs

Kunitz is a good player. He'll be missed. Heck, if we go back to last year, he was actually placed on waivers twice. The Ducks did it initially, and he was claimed by the Atlanta Thrashers. A few days later, Atlanta placed him back on waivers and he was re-claimed by Anaheim. If we go by that book, the Wings could have actually had him. At the time though, no one really thought he'd be much more then a minor leaguer, so who only knows if he would have made it here.

    Pistons vs. Wings

I'll always be a Wings fan first and formost. You better believe I'll be watching the Wings game tonight.

...And what good would a suspension on his part actually do for the Wings?

So, shall we take a page out of the book of Offsides? I will. Go Lang!

Game 3: Kopecky in, Calder out

I can see now the personal attacks are starting again. Just like with Kronwall. Fine, I'll drop it. God forbid I criticize and don't like someone on the Wings. I guess that doesn't make me a real fan, right? Just like I've heard from a lot of people. Jeez.

Game 3: Kopecky in, Calder out

What is that supposed to mean? Anyone who plays for the Wings is automatically a good player? So I guess you thought Brad Norton was just great then right? I'm not afraid to play the kids, but Kopecky does suck. Period. He brings no production at all, is a very inconsistant hitter, and is coming off an injury that, if he is hurt again, will end his career. Why put him in the lineup at all? Really, why? This is a major slap in the face to Hudler. It really is. Calgary was a big team but he still managed to produce and play well. I don't see Kopecky as a physical presence at all. He is big, but doesn't throw hits or really anything. He didn't impress me at all when he played before his injury. In fact, I think he sucked then, and I still think he sucks now. Too bad. I don't believe in your statement of "Anyone who plays for the Wings is a good player". It's a very homer/slappie like comment. In fact, it's almost arrogant. Not trying to be mean in my statement or anything, but this is how I feel.

    New Life?

Great article. I hope he comes back. He is still a good player, and has adapted to his new role.

Game 3: Kopecky in, Calder out

Wow. Nice mature response. Sorry I don't think Kopecky is this physical power-forward God like everyone else here. In fact, I think he sucks. It's just my opinion. If you think he's a good player, I'm not going to make idiotic comments to you about it. There is no reason you should make them at me because I don't think he's a good player.

Giguere or Michelin Man you Decide

Can't we just all agree to disagree?
  22. Kp-Wings

Game 3: Kopecky in, Calder out

Wow, nice comparison. Who else on Philly, besides Simon Gagne, actually did anything this year either? Your Calder hate is becoming annoying. You can't deny the fact that, when he first came here, he was awesome. Whatever happened since then I don't know. But still though, you act like he's a horrible player who couldn't crack an ECHL roster. Why? Because he's having a bad playoffs? Then I guess Patrick Marleau, Marian Hossa, Jarome Iginla, Paul Kariya, and every other person who underperformed these playoffs all must suck too then right?
  23. Kp-Wings

Game 3: Kopecky in, Calder out

Theres just one problem. Kopecky does neither of these things.
