There are some Oiler fans, like the hockey purists and Don Cherry kool-aid drinkers, that were rooting for the Flames to beat us just because the Flames are a Canadian teams. So no, Oiler fans have rooted for the Flames at times.

Shanahan is weak. A visor would make no difference. Have you not noticed how in the late stages in his career he's gone totally soft?

If Holmstrom wore a visor the injury would probably have been 10x worse. It would have gotten stuck between his face and the visor, and have nowhere to go. Without the visor, he has room to escape the errant stick, and throw it out of the way. With the visor, there is a risk of it getting stuck behind the visor and potentially in his eye, and the injury would have been a lot worse. I don't want to sound like a Don Cherry kool-aid drinker, but mandatory visors are not the answer. There is always the off chance you get an incident like with what happened to Saku Koive in last years playoff. If a stick get's wedged between the visor and a players eye, it can do some serious damage.

Yeah, that is cool to see him celebrate after scoring for once. It actually caught me by suprise and off guard a little. That was one of the very few times I've seen him celebrate.

Not scoring a goal on Thursday's game didn't help. But yeah, the crowd was quite lame. Today's crowd sounded great on TV. The arena erupted after Datsyuk scored the goal to give the Wings the lead late in the game. That's what a like to see. I'm sure Illitch is taking this all in right now, and I expect the ticket prices to be lowered a bit next season. It was a sure fire bet the Wings would sell-out a playoff game before, and the only real reason they aren't is the ticket prices are way too high for people to afford in a state that has the worst economy in the entire country. I'm sure, and certainly hope, Illitch does lower the prices next season.

In that case, I would say it's the fault of the AP. They usually write the postgame articles and such, and probably got the stats wrong. Of course, we could always follow a LGW tradition and say what how the guys at ESPN are bunch of idiots and non-hockey savvy dumbf***s. Care to join in? Maltby was the one who caused Bill Guerin to turn the puck over, ultimately leading to Clearys goal. Not to mention the strong job he did on the PK he did today. Is that not enough for you?

Yeah, but why should the article only focus on the first period, when the Wings played good the rest of the game? I know the Wings are the most hated team in the NHL, and nothing would please the media more then to watch the Wings crumble and fall apart, but shouldn't there be some sort of limitations on these article? All these articles ever focus on is the negative side of things. I don't get it.

I have never seen you post a single positive thing here. When Calgary tied the seires 2-2, you were in full ranting force. Yet, after the Wings won the series, I noticed that you mysteriously disappeared from these forums. Are you immune to positve comments or something? Samulesson... eh, ok he's been ok as of late. If it wasn't for his shot today, Datsyuks goal doesn't go in. He has been playing more noticably physical lately too, so he's been allright with me. Maltby has never fallen off the radar for me. I still like him a lot, and will always be one of my favorite Red Wings. He does his job, and that's all you can ask. He did a great job on Clearys goal. Lilja has impressed to a huge extent lately. I know us LGW'ers like to make the PAIN TRAIN LOLZ!!!!!!!!!!!11 jokes all the time, but seriously, Lilja has played some great hockey in these playoffs. I've seen him lay at least three huge hits tonight, and he hasn't made too many mistakes lately either. Great job on his part. ...and Hasek? Well, what can you say? He's a crazy old man at times, but as long as he get's it done, I have no complaints. He did a great job in the 3rd stopping some of those shots, so he played good today.

Wow, that was a horrible article. Are you sure it wasn't written by Grapes? I'm suprised we didn't see any "European *****" comments strewn in there either. Probably because the Wings were so dominant in their physical play today that they'd just look stupid writing something like that.

I'm actually picking up vibes that someone on TSN or Grapes wrote that article. Despite the Wings winning, I see little to almost no compliments in there at all.

Brett Hull only bothers me when he says things that are completely out of complex. IE Calgary has so much more talent then the Wings. Him saying that made me s*** my pants it was so funny (and stupid!). Beyond Iginla and Tanguay, who on Calgary is not a stick-wielding windmill on that team?

QFT Just because he is a former Wing doesn't mean he is obligated to like them now. Besides, he's Brett Hull. He makes stupid comments about every team. Jeez, just because someone doesn't have their lips glued to the collective asses of the Detroit Red Wings, is the world going to end? That being said, I still disagree with his thoughts on the hit. Considering it was: A. A clean hit, and B. Cheechoo technically still had possesion, it was anything but cheap.

Did you also notice how they constantly throw the slander of empty seats in there too? In the middle of the third period, I saw about five empty seats tops. TSN overblows this whole thing with the seats and the attendance so much, it's ridiculous.

Perhaps ESPN is running this from the background? Just sayin'...

All aboard the bandwagon! Eheh, he played good tonight. For the most part he didn't impress me, but that goal he scored was huge. He get's props and a job well done tonight.

Seriously, this guy is great. Excellent work by the whole team to turn the game around after a horrendous start. It was looking pretty bad in the beginning there, but what a way to turn it around!

It's been rumored, but the sources, usually all be it Eklund or the Canadian media, are not highly credible. Nothing has officially been confirmed with what would happen to Babcock as of right now.

Bertuzzi should be the replacement for the guy to stand in front of the net, not Samulesson. Bertuzzi is big and strong enough to handle the physical play in front. Samulesson will get pushed around and will probably ball up on the ice when the going get's rough. For as big as Samulesson is, he is probably one of the weakest players on the team. Bertuzzi is the way to go with someone in front of the net.

If Maltby's shot in the 2nd period doesn't hit the post, it's a 2-1 game. If the numerous deflections that hit Nabokov would have went in, and they were close, it's probably a 4-2 game. There you go.
