Datsyuk was born in Yekaterinburg (then at the time called Sverdlovsk, which has no relation to present day Sverdlovsk, located in Ukraine), which is located in the Eastern side of Russia, making it a part of Europe, not Asia. The majority of Asia is located in countries such as China and Mongolia. The sections of Russia that are in Asia are mostly un-inhabited (think: Siberia), and the few areas that do have people are very small villages/towns, most of which do not have large populations. Most Russians in the NHL come from the larger cities of Eastern Russia, which is part of Europe.

Why is it that everyone always seems to forget the terrible defensive breakdowns that result in these goals? How come nobody blames whoever it was that lost the faceoff on the first goal, or blames Stuart for being miles out of position, leading to a 2 on 1, which caused the second goal? Why is it always the goalie who's the immediate goat? Because of the position he plays? Shut up and stop complaining about Hasek. That goes for EVERYONE on these forums who complains about him. He's the Wings best player right now, bar none. Did you all already forget the big saves he made in the 1st period, and in the other two games in this series? Some of the people here are so ridiculous. Instead of blaming the actual player at fault, they almost always blame the goalie. It makes me think that half of the people here don't even watch the games, because if they did, they'd all see what a great job Hasek has done in this series and he's not the one at fault here.

So where does this put the Brunnstrom negotiations?

That is such a ridiculous prediction. He's playing good, yes, but a Conn Smythe? Come on now. That's really a stretch.

Gary Thorne is one of the absolute best. I miss him calling games on ESPN; he was great. Another really great broadcaster was former Penguins TV play-by-play man Mike Lange. Why in the world did FSN Pittsburgh let him go, especially for those two mindless drones they have now? Lange as great. He has some of the best expressions in all of sports, and nobody could match the excitement he brought to the game. Even when the Penguins were really bad, he'd make watching a game worth while. FSN Pittsburgh should never have let him go. I'm really glad that the Penguins picked him up on their radio broadcasting crew, because he does a really great job, and is one of the better broadcasters in the game. There are some other good guys as well; Sam Rosen on MSG is great. He has a great hockey voice, and has been the voice of the Rangers for such a long time. Some other good ones are Howie Rose, Dave Strader, John Vanbiesbrouck, Ralph Strangis, Daryl Reaugh, Jim Hughson, and of course, Panger. There are some others as well, but these guys really stick out as doing a great job. Of course, you can't forget the best of them all: Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond. Nobody else comes close, at least in my opinion. They do such a great job.

...sign a Finn? Are you crazy?!?!? Hehe, just a joke of course. I still find it hard to believe that, with all the Europeans that have played for this team in the past 20 or so years, there is only one Finnish player in that group: Filppula. Do the Wings even have a Finland scout?

Bob MacKenzie and E.J. Hradek are on drugs on NHL Live right now
Kp-Wings replied to shadow47's topic in General
Hey, I felt the need to get that off my chest, ok? It'd be nice if the service I'm paying for was better, but luckily for XM, they have better music channels than regular radio, and the FOX news network, so I can get past it. -

The people on XM Radio irritate the heck out of me. These guys are the biggest brownosers I've ever seen when it comes to the San Jose Sharks and Pittsburgh Penguins. I mean, really: shut the f*** up already. Anything can happen in the playoffs; it's not a given that everyones favorite posterboys Joe Thornton and Sidney Crosby will steamroll through every team they see BY THEMSELVES, like everyones predictions say. In fact, Thornton's been pretty quiet so far, just like the rest of his team (minus maybe Ryane Clowe). A couple of the worst guys on there are Jim Tatti and Phil Esposito. These guys piss me off so much; Esposito is nothing more than a senile old man trying to relive his glory years. He's a f***ing idiot. Why do they even have him on there? He never has anything important to actually say; he just spouts off crap. Jim Tatti I especially hate. He claimes to be a Red Wings fan, but he gives this team absolutely no support at all. I swear, he's got his head so far up Ron Wilson's ass he could brush his teeth. Some fan he is; off the bat, he already has an Anaheim - San Jose WCF. Funnily enough, BOTH of these teams are down in their respective series. And where are the Red Wings, the team he claimes to be a fan of, but refuses to support? Up 2-0 against Nashville. Yeah, that's what I thought. The biggest idiot, though, by far is Jim Gordon (ala "Boomer" as he likes to call himself). He thinks he's the Don Cherry of XM Radio or something. He's an ******* about virtually every subject that is thrown at him, and it's just non-stop. Plus, he hates the Wings (and Wings fans). He's never come out and really said it, but he personally goes out of his way to attack Wings fans, and "denounce" the Hockeytown title from Detroit, instead giving it to the lowly Buffalo Sabres, who haven't accomplished s*** in their entire existance, and couldn't fill the building themselves this season. I mean, seriously. Does this POS have nothing better to do but rag on a fanbase for not being loud in the most mundane of regular season games? He's basing most of this "bad crowd/Hockeytown dead" crap off of some of the most boring games of the season; such as the 1-0 OT win over Nashville a couple weeks back. If he had actually watched the game, instead of just ranting like a complete moron, than he'd know that it was a boring game that was hard to get exited about. I'm kinda curious if he said anything about the Wings first two playoff games so far this season. He probably didn't, just because he's an ******* that refuses to ever be positive (unless it's involving San Jose or Pittsburgh!!!). I almost think he wears his Crosby jersey right on the air; even with everything that Ovechkin has proven this year, he still thinks Crosby is, and I quote "the best player in the world, with nobody coming close". I mean, really. Give the guy some credit. Because of his constant ragging on Wings fans, which almost never seems to stop once he get's into it, and other idiotic subjecst he's far and away the biggest loser on that channel. Find some real subject actually involving the game of hockey to ***** about; not about the fans loudness level, empty seats, or the Hockeytown title. His obsession with crowds/fans at the game, is ridiculous. You know, it's nice that XM does have a hockey channel, but they really need to get some better people on there. All the guys they have on now are such idiots in all forms. /end rant -
Come on Wings! Let's finish these guys off. This is the year the Cup comes back to Hockeytown. Let's Go Red Wings!!!!!!!!!!

I've heard of Taylor Hall (who I thought was going to be the 2010 1st overall pick), but not Kabanov.

LOL! I definitly agree. This class thing is such a bunch of bulls***. In hockey, classy spells boring and lame in my book. It also spells weak, which is what the OP of this thread is. I could care less if I'm not considered "classy". When I go to hockey games, I get all over the opposing players. Some people here seem to forget that when the "____ YOU SUCK!" chants are done, it can throw the opposing teams players off their game. I mean, the Wings 4th goal yesterday came during on of the "Ellllllllllis YOU SUCK!" chants, so it could have played a part. Stop being a bunch of pansies, and trying to take all the fun out of going to a hockey game. This isn't a golf match; it shouldn't be quiet. I want the Joe to be a loud, intimidating building, not a small crowd of stuffed shirts watching a chess match. I could care less if I'm considered classless; it's fun to do that stuff, and if I go to a playoff game this year (I'm trying to get tickets), I'm going to be as loud and rowdy as I want. Again: I could care less if these chants are considered "classy"; their fun, and if I'm spending the money on tickets to go, I should be having fun, shouldn't I? It's the way hockey should be, so leave it alone and shut up. I loved the atmosphere at the Joe yesterday, and hopefully, that carries over through the rest of the playoffs. I hope nobody actually listens to the OP in this thread. Don't be a stuffy loser like him; go to the games, be loud, chant whatever you want, and have fun. That's what hockey is all about.

Whatever. I was never that big on him anyways. North American hockey is a much different breed, and it would be a horrible situation to sign this guy to a big contract, only to see him suck. I'd rather sign an established NHL player anyways that has already proven his worth; I.E. Brian Rolston.

Nice pics OsGOD.

The guys playing are all better than him. If he had any offensive ability to speak of, he'd be in the lineup, but he doesn't. All he can do is skate fast. It doesn't help his cause that he's really small, either. Lebda should be traded at seasons end, to make way for Quincey and Meech. He isn't needed here.

Unbelievable. Was that article written by Trotz himself? Why does everyone fail to mention the downright awful play from Arnott? The team's supposed to be leader has only ONE shot this entire series. And what about Dumont? What about Hlavac? What about Radulov? What about Zidlicky? What about Weber? These guys are invisable, yet they are being let off the hook. I seriously can't believe that everyone is pinning the Predators failure on the refs, and not the underachieving players that have not even come close to pulling their weight in this series. The only guys that have showed up so far are Ellis and Tootoo. The rest of that team? They were MIA, and that's putting it nicely. The Predators have sucked so far, but everyone wants to believe it's all the refs handing favors out to the Wings. Do these people forget that the very same refs called a very questionable penalty on Stuart in the final minutes of the game, giving Nashville ample opportunity with a two man advantage to come back? I mean, where were the Predators forwards in all of this? They had a great opportunity, but failed to capitalize. They couldn't score, yet everyone fails to realize this. I don't get it. I really don't. The Nashville players flat out sucked, yet somehow it's all the refs faults. Absolutley ridiculous.
-
It's like I said in the GDT: he's blaming everything on the refs, yet no mention is made about the noticeable disapparence of Arnott, Dumont, Hlavac, etc, or the fact that Nashville was was completely dominated and ran into in the ice for the second straight game in a row. I'm really surprised he's letting Arnott, in particular, off the hook so easily. He absolutley sucked in this game tonight, much like he did in Game 1. Again, he doesn't come to play. Yet, Trotz is too busy bitching about the refs to take notice. Where is the accontability on that team? It isn't the refs fault; it's your own damn players for not producing, or even showing up to play. Stop making excuses.
-
Haha, that's funny. He's been trying to ban-dodge in this for place months. What an idiot! Just give him the perma-boot already: IP Ban. He's a jerk that does nothing but try to start crap, as was evidence in his latest returns here.
-
Anyone listen to Babcock's press conference? Trotz should seriously take lessons from him on how to handle discussing the refs. The refs made some bad calls on the Wings part tonight as well, yet Babcock said they did a great job and did the best they could. That is a true, honest coach. Trotz, on the other hand, tries to pin his team's loss on the refs calling off that first goal by Nashville (when the net was off), and not calling off the Wings second goal that Lidstrom scored. That's so pathetic. No mention of how Arnott, who's supposed to the leader on that team, only has 1 shot series and did nothing tonight but take bad penalties. No mention to how Hlavac misses a wide open net, puts his offsides at least 3 times, and was overall lazy and apathetic the whole game. No mention to the fact that his team was outshot AGAIN. No mention to the fact that, outside of a couple spurts of energy, the Wings totally dominated the Preds again for the second game in a row. Oh, but wait. All this aside, it's still the refs fault. The same refs that basically gave Nashville a 2-man advantage at the end of the game because of the Stuart penalty. Cry me a river already. Why don't you try getting your team to actually perform, instead of blaming it on the refs, which seems to be the easy way out? Idiot.
-
Haha, I know. I'm listening to see his presser on 1270 right now, and he's whining like a little *****. I seriously can't believe that he thinks the Wings second goal should have been called off. What a loser!
-
McCarty rocks. I was so happy to see him score. Great pics esteef!

Way to go Wings!!!!!!!!!! Hasek was absolutely amazing tonight. He was so clutch, especially near the end when Nashville has a 6-4 advantage. What an excellent performance by the Dominator tonight! The best thing about tonight, though was... McCarty scores! Who would have thought, eh? It really made me happy to see him come through like that. Same goes for Draper. It's always great when the grinders come through and put one in the back in the net like they both did today. Great job guys! Now it's time to end this series next week. Two more wins, and it's onto Round 2! Finish 'em off! Let's Go Red Wings!!!!!!!!!!
