Well, Grapes always criticizes Sid for being a French Canadian. I don't know if he really is one, but I guess most do consider him one. Hardly. Ever since he checked Briere from behind, he always finds a way to sneak that in there, saying how he gets "star treatment" and all this other stuff. I really don't think he's too fond of Ovechkin either. Ugh. I can't stand Hrudey. While I admit he is a smart guy when it comes to hockey, he is so increadibly boring that I generally don't watch him. When he talks hockey, he's alright, but a lot of the times he talks about other far off stuff that has nothing to do with hockey. What has he actually said to you? The usual "Euro puss" crap that always comes out of his mouth about the Wings?

Basically that is the reason. He is from the Maritimes, and most would consider that part of Quebec.

What an upset. Isles win 3-2. This is going to be a great series. The Isles look great with DiPietro back. I can't wait to see how this ones going turn out.

If that comment was made when Fedorov entered the league, that would be over 17 years ago. At that point, Grapes actually made sense with some things he said. Now, he is just an enraged ass that hates everything non-canadian. He might have liked Vladdy, but I can't remember. If he did, it would shock me. Vladdy was a great player, but was a European, and that's beyond Grapes liking.

Buffalo ties it. Just wanted to comment on the Tampa-New Jersey game. Brodeur let in a real softie on the goal that gave Tampa the lead. Holmqvist is actually outplaying him this game. This could be a long series if it goes back and fourth like this.

Grapes doesn't like Sid that much either. The four reasons being that he's a French Canadian, he's not gritty, he wears a visor, and he doesn't block shots. He has actually, on one occasion, said that Jordan Staal will be a better player than Sid. While it's no doubt Staal will be a good player, he will not be as good as Crosby. Grapes only says this because Staal was born in Ontario and doesn't wear a visor. Whether Staal will fill Grapes other expectations, being a gritty shot blocker, remains to be seen. I honestly don't know why you guys hate Zyuzin so much. He is probably more solid then our very own Nik Kronwall, although less physical. If there was room on the Wings roster he might not be a bad fit.

You must understand that pretty much everyone here hates Maltby. I am probably one of the few people who still support him, yet everyone else thinks he sucks. He goes out and does what he has to do. So what if he doesn't score goals or fight people? That's not his job.

Yep. That's exactly how people in Boston looked at him. He was non-existant in the playoffs for the Bruins, which could probably be why they were always being knocked out so quickly.

He didn't say susan, he said Zyuzin. He was talking about Flames defenseman Andrei Zyuzin. What play he was talking about I have no idea though. Grapes is an idiot. He says stuff about Euros because he's one of these oldschool Canadians that, back when he coached the Bruins, there weren't many European players in the NHL. He seriously needs to get with the times though. There are a lot of good European players in the NHL, yet he is blinded by his stupidity to understand that.

I don't consider Grapes to be a very smart man when it comes to hockey. Maybe Canadian hockey, but nothing outside that. Grapes wouldn't compliment a European player if he was on death row. This is why he's not really a very smart hockey person. If he can't decifer a good play because that person is a Euro, that really makes him a moron.

Yeah, maybe. I view the Radulov hit as more of a mistake than intentional, and it wasn't a terrible hit anyways (even though Bernier did get hurt unfourtantly). Radulov really doesn't have a history either, unlike Hartnell. If I had to pick one to suspend someone on, I'd definitly pick the Hartnell hit. You could see he was going after Cheechoo about halfway across the ice. There is no place for that kinda crap that Hartnell did.

Danny Briere and Denis Gauthier to name a couple.

Bulls***. The hit by Radulov wasn't that dirty, and yet he gets suspended. Hartnell makes a dirty hit by kneeing someone, and gets nothing. I swear, Colin Campbell is really a moron sometimes.

Funny, this coming from a guy who only played 1 NHL game in his career. I'll bet he didn't block any shots in his career either. I'm starting to find Grapes to be exteremly annoying as of late. All he does is go out of his way to criticize the Wings. It's become especially apparent after Yzerman retired. I've began to watch him only to get a good laugh about how biased he is about canadians.

Good post! Edit: I'd like to add: Legionnaire11, you really are a homer, probably one of the worst I've ever seen. I admit, I am a homer to the Wings in some degree. But if someone on the Wings did something dirty, I would call that player out. You, on the other hand, defend these guys like they did nothing wrong. Tootoo and Hartnell especailly. If either of them beheaded someone you would still support them and back them. God damn. What, tell me, is the point you consider when something is dirty? I'm really curious, since I think both Tootoo and Hartnell have already crossed that point long ago.

I never knew Trotz and Hartnell never got along. Hartnell is an Edmonton native I believe, so if he doesn't resign with Nashville, expect him to possibly land on with the Oilers. Of course, we could bring up more rumors of him coming here! In all retrospect, Hartnell could never play for this team. The Wings and Preds are forming a pretty good hate rivalry right now (yeah, I know, it was forced) and it would seem a little awkward for Hartnell to come and play here. Especially after what happened with Fischer. Since Fischer is still around the Wings a lot in the lockeroom and such, that might not be a good idea to bring in Hartnell. edited for grammar
