Exactly. Brodeur is the New Jersey Devils. Datsyuk is just one of a team that has Zetterberg, Bertuzzi, Holmstrom, Lidstrom, Schneider, and a whole list of others.

Ordonez has been terrible lately. I don't know if it's just an early season slump or what, but he is awful. Same goes for Rodney. His pitching better improve, especially if he's going to be playing the role of closer. You know, that's what I've wondered myself, especially after almost blowing an 8 run lead to the Jays. Mesa is probably the worst, as I am still scratching my head over him being here. Rodney and Grilli have shown flashes of being ok, but at the current time they are not getting it done.

That would be too drastic a change. Like betterREDthandead already stated, the same 4 or 5 teams would be good every year, and the other 25 or so wouldn't. You would vastly have to over-value free agency, and given the CBA, that's kinda hard to do in this day and age. On the other side, though, I'd like to point out something interesting. Sometimes, the best players in a draft ended up being taken lower down in the draft. For example, in the 1999 draft, I consider Martin Havlat the best player taken in that draft (by himself, together I would consider the Sedin twins the best selections), and he wasn't selected until the 26th selection. Before him were the mentioned Sedin twins, Tim Connolly, a couple of checking line forwards like Taylor Pyatt, Jamie Lundmark, Kris Beech, and Oleg Saprykin, and four half way decent defenseman in Branislav Mezei, David Tanabe, Barrat Jackman, and Nick Boynton. Other than that, you have a whole list of flops that were taken way higher up than Havlat. If we were to go by the 1999 Draft, your plan would actually be a good idea for the bad teams. But still though, it is highly unlikely that a #26 overall selection will outplay half of the top 10 selections. It all goes by luck, and how the team that drafts a player develops them.

It's a double-edged sword. From a player standpoint, Hartnell would bring the perfect combination of size, skill, scoring, and toughness. Add him on a line with Bert, and that's pretty deadly. From a person standpoint however, Hartnell is a dick, and I personally don't think he'll be able to get along with anyone in the Wings dressing room. I don't think anyone in Nashville, with the exception of Tootoo, even cares for Hartnell all that much. So obviously that could pose a problem.

He was being feed info from Eklund.

More people would prefer Souray though because Souray is physical and will drop the gloves. For the majority of people here at LGW, those two qualities are like a dog whistle, as most would succumb to sign him at any cost. I don't know that much about Andrei Markov. I do know he has good offensive numbers, but I don't know if he is as physical as Souray. By the way, is Andrei related at all to Danny? Just wondering.

Thanks for the heads up. You saved me from looking!

I could understand if he was having a bad season, but how do you figure? Schneider has a career high 41 assist this year, combined with his 11 goals and 52 total points. I know he is scrutinized for his lack of defensive play, but if we lose him then there goes our PP. Face it, as much as we'd like this to happen, Sheldon Souray is not going to become a Red Wing. It's already been stated that if he doesn't re-sign with Montreal than he'll sign with one of the three California teams. I honestly don't see who else is out there that will bring as much offense to the blueline as Schneider. We have some good physical defenseman in Markov and Kronwall, so we got that covered. I would be happy if Schneider stayed, because if we lose him, then our offense from our defenseman goes down quite a bit.

First of all, how did he not get enough ice team? Please explain how a first liner did not get enough ice time. Second of all, the comparison to Hasek is perhaps the worst I've ever seen. Hasek has played here for a grand total of 2 seasons (not counting his 14 game stint in 2003-2004). He really didn't have a connection to this team like Sergei did. This is why if Hasek left, nobody would be as mad at him as they were with Fedorov. Third of all, you're nuts if think Hasek is praised for his antics. With the exception (and no offense) to Puckloo, nobody really backs Hasek heart and soul. You're clearly making all of this up out of the clear blue sky, mainly becuase you don't like Hasek. Just read these boards after Hasek has a bad game. Most of the boards will be calling for his head. Last but not least, Hasek and Fedorov are two totally different people. Hasek doesn't complain about the players on the team. Fedorov did. He always felt he was a better player then Yzerman, and always felt he should have the "C" instead. It's never been proven, but it's always been rumored that Fedorov never liked Yzerman to begin with, because Yzerman had everything that Fedorov wanted. Fedorov was a great player when he played here. But the kind of stuff he did at the same time off the ice was pretty low. Let's time travel back to 1997-1998 when he refused to sign with the Wings. And in that same year, signs an offer sheet to Carolina. Or let's remember the 2002-2003 season when he began to throw a fit because he was being benched because of poor play. He could have kept his mouth shut, but instead he spouts off to the media. Just like he had on many other occasions when he played here. I loved Fedorov when he played here, and was one of my favorite players. I never boo him either. But the thing that really gets me is how people make him out to be this nice guy that was always happy and loved everything, which is not true. He always complained about something. Stop trying to make him out to be this perfect person who never complained or threw little fits, because he did, and well all know it.

Is he actually injured, or is this only speculation?

Either team is good enough for me. I like the Islanders and all, but I'd much rather see a fellow Original Six team make the playoffs. If I had to choose though, my vote will probably go to Montreal, since they have a better team, and have a better chance of going farther.

He's behind the ring toss!

Don't you find it annoying that this same situation is always brought up though? We might as well bring in some Williams and Lilja for Ryan Smyth trade topics in here while we're at it.

Do you think the Wings will bring back Fedorov for next year's pla
Kp-Wings replied to wilka91's topic in General
Why would they want him back? He's pretty washed up right now. The only use he'd have is if Kronwall got hurt (again) and he played defense for him. That being said, he would still be an upgrade over Lang. -
I'd like to crack 100, so here goes. Friday: Atlanta @ Carolina Florida @ Tampa Bay Anaheim @ Dallas Saturday: NY Islanders @ Philadelphia Buffalo @ Washington Chicago @ Detroit Phoenix @ Los Angeles Vancouver @ San Jose Ottawa @ Boston Montreal @ Toronto Florida @ Carolina Tampa Bay @ Atlanta Anaheim @ Columbus NY Rangers @ Pittsburgh St Louis @ Minnesota Nashville @ Colorado Edmonton @ Calgary Sunday: Chicago @ Dallas Buffalo @ Philadelphia NY Islanders @ New Jersey Vancouver @ Phoenix Calgary @ Colorado

I have a question: Why is this always the pinnacle discussion around here? You're not going to stop people from booing him. It's just a fact. Fedorov will be booed by at least someone until he either returns to the Wings or retires. Until one of those two things happen, he will be booed.
-
Agreed. There's nobody on the Wings that can bring what he brings, and very few in the league for that matter. There should be no doubt with Holland or anyone that Bertuzzi should be re-signed, especially if he does well and we lose all those conditional draft picks.
-
I consider Markov a lot better than Kronwall at the current time.

Oy vey. Talk about a huge contract. Obviously, like everyone, I have mixed feelings here. Datsyuk is a tremendous talent, and the Wings have basically been riding his offense for the past month or so. But at that same time, he has consistantly been a no-show in the playoffs. I don't know what will become of this. I sure hope this doesn't into a Yashin type scenario where if he disappoints then his contract makes him virtually untradeable. We'll see what happens.

Yay!

You've been on a roll tonight with the one-liners.

Backstrom is a free agent. There is no reason to trade for him.

I don't want to sound rude here, as you are a nice person, but what is it exactly that Lang does? Other than being Hudlers landlord, I see nothing he does for this team. He hasn't scored in ages, he is lazy, he doesn't kill penalties, he very rarely wins faceoffs, he's not physical. So what is it exactly that he does? Again, I hope I don't come off as rude or anything. I just find Lang to be very frustrating, and discussing him occasionally brings out the worst in me (kinda like with Williams).

Hockey is the only sport that exists in Toronto (nothing against the Jays or Raptors mind you ). In Detroit, it's different. The city is basically all Tigers right now. The Wings will take a backseat to the Tigers as long as the Tigers are a good team. Of course, the majorly overpriced tickets, and the horrible Michigan economy also play roles into the lack of ticket sales. That's just the way it is.

What if he signed Todd Fedoruk? Would you order the crow then?
