Come on now. Lang does NOTHING. He isn't scoring, he's not physical, he's not a defensive forward. He does nothing. He brings nothing. He's just lazy and overpaid. If Lang at least brought something else to the team other than offensive ability, then I'd cut him some slack. How can I cut him slack when he's not doing anything right now? And it's not like he's playing with Williams anymore either. He's playing with a former 50 goal scorer (Bertuzzi) and a former 25 goal scorer (Calder). So linemates are no longer the exuse here. He has no excuse. He is not getting it done, and hasn't been for some time now. How much leverage should he get? edited for grammar

Kessel will win it. Dom might be nominated, but he will not win it.
-
You are such a moron. Constant Bertuzzi trolling and a whole s***load of other crap among other things. You live in BC apparently, so just be a Canucks fan.
-
Suprise suprise. I guess anything can happen.
-
And yet, it is still very ineffective. Samulesson should sit, but probably won't. Hudler more than likely will be sitting.

Man alive, the Tigers were lucky to get out of that one. Didn't see the whole game, but I come home from work and their up 10-2. A little later, the Jays make it 10-9. They almost blew an 8 run lead. I wonder if the cold weather effected their play or something. I can't believe they almost blew it. Oh well, they still won. I see the Jays as being a potential problem this year when we play them though. They've got some good hitting up front, and could be contenders this year.

The only other player that supposidly didn't like Babcock was Shanahan. That, I feel, is the main reason why he left. Babcock likes hard working forwards. Shanahan was perhaps one of the laziest players on the team, not as much as Lang, but he still was. I won't argue with what Shanahan did though, since he scored almost as many goals last years as Lang has points this year. The comparison to Maltby and Lang came about because their contracts were being compared. Sure Lang is a better player than Maltby, but Maltby will probably take the bare minimum, where as Lang will more than likely not.

EKLUND!!!!!11

His celebration for his 100th will be no different than any other goal. He'll jump around a few times, smack the boards, do the hand thing, and a couple of other overacting celebrations. Yet, he is still a very good player that I like a lot.

Have you not seen the flurry of ridiculous trade proposals people made before the deadline? Someone actually went on here and proposed we trade Williams, Lilja, and a draft pick for Ryan Smyth. And that's just the beginning. Go take a look back at some of the just pure stupid trade proposals people made.

I got dibs on either Boston or the NY Islanders for overpaying him.

ESPN: "Slim Chance" Hank back before playoffs
Kp-Wings replied to RedWingsFanatic's topic in General
Ack, I hope he at least gets well before the playoffs. That's what matters. -
I remember when they played in the Thunderdome. The Lightning set an attendance record for like 27,000 at one game. I look at that picture though, and the upper seats look very far away. I wonder if they could even see the game from that high up.

I think he'll be back personally. His agent and Ken Holland have been in contract talks since about the beginning of last month. It all depends on what Babcock will do with him. If Kopecky is not damaged goods and can come back, this obviously puts the Wings in a strange situation from having so many forwards. That may push Maltby down to the #13 forward spot, and who knows if he'll be very happy with that. I think the only way we'd ever see the old Maltby again is if the Wings signed an enforcer. That way Maltby can go in, piss people off, and just skate away and let the other guy fight for him, kinda like what he did with McCarty. Holland is not too keen on enforcers though, so I doubt that will happen.
-
The Wings seem pretty exited about this guy. I know nothing about him, so I don't know what he'll do right off the bat or what they should do with him. At his age, he might just go back to juniors.

Playoff tickets for the Wings are so vastly overpriced, it's sicking. How do they really expect anyone to go watch a team when their going to charge as high as $68 for only standing room tickets? Normally this wouldn't effect people, but this year it comes at a crossroad of three points: 1. The economic situation in Michigan makes you think the New York Islanders front office is running the state. It's at it's lowest low, and people just don't have enough money to spend. Combined with the fact that the tickets are so expensive, and nobody's going to buy them. If a one game only ticket costs you about as much as one months electric bill, what will you spend it on? 2. Another point that some people seem to miss is the Tigers. After their success last year, everyone far and wide is on the Tigers bandwagon. This creates competition for tickets. This being mentioned leads into my next point... 3. Here's a situation where Mike Illitch owns two successful teams. One charges fairly decent prices for tickets so you can take the family and such to enjoy. The other charges so much money to go see that you have to take out a home loan just to have an enjoyable evening, and this is generally by yourself! It's ridiculous how much money Wings tickets cost. Givin the already mentioned economic situation the state is in, not many people can even afford tickets. Don't let people fool you with this crap of "Nobodys going because they won't get past the first round". That simpily isn't the case. If you have a good sports team going into the playoffs, people will generally go, even if they lost in the first round the previous year. The reason people aren't going is the economic situation the state is in. And unless Mike Illitch is going to lower tickets prices (which will never happen unless the Wings fall apart) or the states turns itself around economy-wise, this sort of thing will become commonplace over the next few years to come. edited for grammar

From a business standpoint, a 30-35,000 arena capacity would be good, since theres more seats to go around, and they might just actually lower the price for once. From a viewing standpoint though, that would be absolutly brutal to try and watch a game from the upper deck. That is way too many seats to have in an arena. I mean, people complain about the United Center in Chicago, and that has about half of that amount. Personally I think anything above 25,000 is way too much. On another note, I like the area they chose for the new arena. It would be so close to all the bars and other forms of entertainment. I think it'd be cool.
-
It would! Now he would be worth watching in a movie.
-
I doubt it. Lang and Babcock aren't exactly the best of friends as it is, so if Lang is going to come back it's going to be for top dollar. Which he is definitly not worth. Maltby makes less than half of what Lang makes. The only debate on Maltby is he doesn't do as much as he used to. His salary is hardly an issue here, since if we kept Maltby at the same price and dumped Lang we'd have over 2 million in free cap room. I don't advocate keeping Maltby for what he makes at all right now, as it is too much, but you can't compare it to Lang at all. Lang may have 49 points, and that's ok, but his otherwise lazy and unenthusiastic play makes him not worth the money.
-
Exactly. Burkes big deadline move was giving up a potential future #1 goaltender in Mike Wall for Brad May. Now, 15 years ago this would have been a good trade, but Brad May sucks now!
-
If the Wings beat all 4 of those teams, that would be such a slap in the face to all the sports analyst who always say the Wings aren't tough enough to do anything. That would be amazing. I wish I could have a camera to see the look on Kara Yorio's face! Eric Lindros has a groin injury.
-
I'm sure if he wanted to play here again he'd take a major paycut. His point totals don't exactly spell "raise" anyways, so I doubt he'd make what he does now. I'd rather buy out Samulesson and keep Maltby, since Maltby at least is an agitator. Unfortantly that probably won't happen, but that'd be the ideal case in my mind.
-
Mason looked like a black hole in net in the shootout. He didn't make a single save.
-
The worst part of that is they apparently consider Theodore a big part of their team.
-
Is Brian Engblom still a commentator with the Jackets? I know he was last year. Yeah, Nashville's commentators are ridiculous. I've never heard such pure homerism in my life. The funny thing is, these guys call the players by their cliche nicknames more then their regular names. I lost count of how many times they've called Vernon Fiddler "Fids".
