I found Brett Hulls commentary to be the best thing about that game. Well, in any sense, the Wings played good. Holmstrom finally got off the schneids and had a good game all around. Same goes for Lebda, as I'm impressed with the way he played after he missed those games. He didn't miss a beat out there, and that's always good to see.

I enjoyed them. Brett Hull criticized some of the players, but in a humerous sort of way. He and the rest of the guys were quite funny up there. I wish they'd have Hull be up in the broadcast booth all of time. Mike Emrick: Samulesson is having words out there, but there just words. Brett Hull: What a shocker.

That's quite bold of you, HC.

Up early here, eh? Given last nights huge turnoff, and the last meeting ended in disaster by an old friend, I'm skeptical about a win at all today. Oh well, we'll wait and see what happens.

Canucks battled. Give 'em credit, they tried. Unlike the Wings of last night.

Ok. Detroit/Minnesota Calgary/Vancouver Nashville/Dallas Anaheim/San Jose Highly doubt we'd see these kinds of matchups in the first round, but no matter. Just my opinion.

Colorado has a horrilbe GM. Francois Giguere did a pretty bad job re-building the team. He let's Rob Blake gone, and his biggest free agent signing last season was probably Tyler Arnason. Combined with the fact that he did nothing at the trade deadline makes it worse. ...And with Calgary now having a pretty comfortable lead on Vancouver, the Av's are more than likely out of it.

Topic #3125 asking what team we the fans would prefer to play. Just for s***s and giggles, I'll say Minnesota. They don't have much offensive depth beyond Gaborik, Demitra, Rolston, and Mark Parrish, and Backstrom is pretty unproven in net. They are strong defensivly though, so that may pose a problem. We'll wait and see what happens.

How could I forget? Here's another one for ya: PULL THE TRIGGER KENNY!!!!!!!!!!!11. That was a great one.

Peter Forsberg. Of course, he's doubtful for just about every game, isn't he?
-
How does that really make a difference? If we were to go by that theory, Ladislav Kohn or Jiri Slegr will demand top dollar too because they were both part of the Wings 2002 Cup team. Same goes for any other player who has one a Cup, even if they didn't play much of a part of it at all.

I believe Cody Rudkowsky will be starting in goal tomorrow.

You've been very pro Lilja since his fight, eh? No matter. He's been playing good lately. I won't take anything away from him. Now that he's got a spot though, I expect him to keep this up, since I know he can do it.
-
The Cup ring especially. I highly doubt that has any means into signing a contract, unless that person scored the winning goal or something. Or if we go by everyones favorite Eklund rumor by saying the Blue Jackets want Kirk Maltby because he has won a few Cups before and has "playoff expierence".

...And so those train whistles really go to waste tonight, don't they?
-
You forgot the "Osgood sucks" threads. Those are commonplace around here!

I get the feeling that Lidstrom is resting. And I really hope I'm right.
-
Because this is LGW! We need to complain about something, right?
-
Good one!
-
This is usually a thing NHL teams do when they want their stars to rest. You really can't just "scratch" your best players, so usually they come up with fake injuries to do so. Now, I really hope this is indeed the case. Without Lidstrom, we are screwed.

Nothing against Bertuzzi or anything, but I wish Babcock would stop throwing the book at him by putting him in shootouts, especially at home. He's already under pressure to prove himself in the games, so the shootout is just more for him to worry about. He does have good moves though, but at this point in time I don't think he should be going in the shootouts. And I'd also like mention Hasek majorly blowing in shootouts. He wasn't terrible last night in the shootout (didn't watch it, but only one goal against says it), but for the majority of the he can't stop anyone, because he likes to flip all over the place, and that doesn't work on breakaways or shootouts.

I think both sides of the Lilja bandwagon are being a bit pundant here. He is not the worst defenseman, but he is not the best defenseman either. He is solid enough to play the #6 role, and probably won't be getting top line minutes. I still worry about him being on the PK though, since he is not the fleetest of foot out there. But he does block shots, which of course is useful and maybe after he'll start dropping the gloves a little more now too. All we can really expect from him is to come in, limit his mistakes, block shots, play physical, and drop the gloves if needed.

Do you know this for sure or are you just assuming?

Aww. That's so nice.
