Howard sucks. ...I said it, there I said it! Ok, so, let's just sign Cloutier already and call it day, right guys?

I've been... gone. Actually, the main reason why I haven't been posting here is my old computer was getting steadily worse over time, and it just couldn't handle this website anymore (all the ads and stuff on the side). It would take me 5-10 minutes just to get a post submitted. I have no patience for slow computers, so, I didn't even bother with it anymore. Now that I've finally gotten around to investing in a *new* computer (set me back quite a bit, though), I'll probably start coming around more. Same goes for hockeyfights as well (I haven't been active there in a very long time as well). Hehe, thanks. Hey, speaking of guys long gone... whatever happened to Lou_Siffer anyways? I haven't seen him in over a year or so.

Be happy with what you can get. Remember, this is Ken Holland we're talking about.

I'm not that sad. Honestly, I never would have thought the Wings would make it this far to begin with; not because they don't have the talent, or the goaltending, but because finding the desire to win back-to-back Cups, no matter how good a team you are, is tough. There's a reason why it hasn't been done in over 10 years. The Wings are a much better team than Pittsburgh, in my opinion, but Pittsburgh had more desire... and that's what put them over the top. I expected that to happen going into this series (and sometimes, preparing yourself for disappointment early is not always a bad thing). I'm disappointed, but I'm not going to jump off a bridge or anything over this. If anything, a tough loss like this might light a fire under the Wings for next season, and they could be right back there again. In fact, I believe they will be, because the Wings are still a damn good team.

I can't show any support for a player that has no heart, and Hossa doesn't have any. I really don't care if he's back or not. He should go sign with the Sharks; he'd in fit in perfectly with all the other ******* that don't care on that team.

Would the Wings be better off had they Pursued Goalie Instead of Hossa

Got a source for that? -
I doubt that. I agree with the dead weight comment, but the problem is that one of those dead weight guys (Kopecky) seems to have his place sealed on this team for doing absolutely nothing. Babcock has been giving him a crap load of ice time lately, and praises him just about every chance he get's. Unless he's injured again, he's in for the playoffs. After that, I can't think of who else would be scratched. Draper and Maltby have loyalty factors on their side, so they won't be out. I'd love to see Filppula get the hook, because he's been terrible this season, but I doubt that happens either. It would take a miracle for Downey to be in come playoff time, which is really a shame. He's a great team guy that would be a huge asset on the bench for morale, and it's always nice to have a backup plan for a fighter in case things get ugly (like in 2007 against Calgary). Plus, he brings more toughness than this team has seen since the years of Kocur.

Forget the deadline, the OFF SEASON is where its at?

Trade Filppula. Really, just get him off the team. He's not worth the money he'll be making in a couple of years. -
Wings suck. The whole team, that is, not just the goalies. /thread

Downey scores tonight, yet he's still being ragged on. Yet, whenever Kopecky (whom I will make my case is a lot more useless than Downey) scores a goal, everybody completly overreacts and starts saying ridiculous and off-the-wall comments, like he's a "power forward", or is the next Holmstrom. This board is unbelievable.

Even though there are still deals coming in at this point, I think it's safe to say the Wings didn't make any (considering Ken Holland confirmed it on the NHL network). This really shouldn't surprise anyone, as it was pretty much expected. How do you all feel about it, though? Are you happy Holland didn't upset the team chemistry, or upset that he was unwilling to part with anything to possibly make the team better and fill certain needs? Or are you just upset no moves were made at all? Myself, I'm upset in the sense I took a sick day to stay home and watch all this (lame, I know, but the last few years I worked through the deadline), and not a single move was made by the Wings, which made it pretty boring to be honest. I guess when it comes right down to it, though, nothing could have really been done, because of the situation. So, how do you all feel about this year's deadline? Are you happy that Holland is sticking with what we've got, or would you have preferred significant moves be made?

Kalinin is having a terrible season, and hasn't been any good in almost three years, so he wasn't really all that much of a loss. But Prucha and Dawes? All the more proof that Slats need to be canned. He is destroying any future that the Rags once had.
-
What is so wrong with what Clement said? Osgood's stats and overall play speak for themselves. Whether you want to blame the defense for that or not doesn't matter; he has been more often bad than good this season. With his play thus far, what makes anybody think that he'll turn it around in only 1-2 month's time? I love how everyone around here expects the media to all be Wings homers. Why exactly? This team isn't perfect, yet for some, it's like everybody is immune to criticism because they play for the Wings. Also, I'd to point something else out; did any of you ever notice that the teams the media picks to win the Cup usually don't? Or did the failures of Nashville and San Jose, among others, the past few years just get swept under the rug?
-
Yes, Downey should be playing tonight. He and Ericsson were both sent down earlier today in case of a trade, but were then both recalled again after the deadline, so he should be in the lineup tonight.
-
Heh, thanks. I've been away a lot this season.
-
Carolina re-acquires Cole? What is this, backwards day? I don't understand the logic in that move at all, unless they've just given up on Justin Williams completely because of his injury history the past few years.
-
I've been thinking the same thing. This guy's a cancer everywhere he goes.
-
Ok, thanks.

I thought LA was building for the future? What gives?

Link?

Either they figured he'd be too important to let go, and wouldn't make the playoffs without him, or the offers were low-balling Florida. Of course, him might have already been traded, just not confirmed yet. I know TSN and everybody else under the sun is saying otherwise, but we'll know for sure at around 4-5 today.
-
Only 13 trades so far? The last few years there was about 20-25 deals each, so there's really going to have to be a lot of post-deadline deals to get close to the totals of the previous years.
-
He really sounded like he didn't want to make a deal, though. He's not big on parting with roster players, and that's about all he can do at this point, because of the cap. Maybe I'm reading too much into these interviews, and he's just not playing his hand to the public. Who only knows with Ken Holland; he's a very hard man to read sometimes.
-
Trades keep filtering in well after the deadline ends. It's anyones guess at this point whether he's moved or not.
