    Edmonton Finally Wins

I was really thinking the Oilers would end up losing every game until the end of the season. Oh well, it's probably good they did finally win. That losing streak was really getting bad for a while.

Thoughts on Bertuzzi after first game as a Wing?

Lidstrom does, technically, hit people by taking them into the boards with one hand. Ken and Mickey were really pointing it out a lot last night, so yes, he technically was hitting.

    Sergei Fedorov boos

That I found pretty funny too about Chelios. Chelios is basically booed in every arena he plays. He is majorly booed in Edmonton suprisingly, considering he has no emotional connection with the Oilers at all. But still though, it is a totally different situation. Chelios is booed by almost everyone. Fedorov is only booed by Wings fans. Now tell me if I'm wrong here, but I don't see any Dallas Stars fans booing Fedorov at every home game, or any other team for that matter. But Wings fans do it, and try and knock it off by comparing it Chelios being booed. Strange logic.

    Sergei Fedorov boos

Really? Are you one of the bitter ones? I understand if you are, considering the points being made of why he left. But I still don't agree with booing him, as it accomplishes nothing, and makes Detroit hockey fans look like jackasses, as David Vyborny has already put forward with his little comment.

    Fighting?

The Simon incident should be a clear sign for Colin Campbell that it's not only fighting that injures people. And if he takes fighting out of the game, we'll see that kind of stuff 10x more and 10x worse. I really don't get how one fight is the consensus for all of this. People have been KO'd quickly in one punch before. The NHL already struggles for a fan base outside of Canada, Detroit, Buffalo, and Minnesota, so why make it even worse now? All of sudden the NHL brass wants to turn the sport into ice dancing or something. Fighting has been in hockey forever, and it damn well better stay that way.

I don't think anyone here would boo somebody on the Wings (except Lilja! ). Naw, I really don't think anyone boos Lilja either. He is not a very good player, but you don't boo him. That just makes you look like an *******.

3/22 GDT: Blue Jackets @ Red Wings

That was the case during the 2003 and 2004 playoffs. But not last year. While I don't think the Wings were going to win the Cup, they could have certainly got past Edmonton if Legace would not have gave up so many soft goals. Roloson wasn't that good. Though the Oilers trap counter-attack didn't help either, since that did make Roloson look a lot better than he really was.

What's this whole thing with Osgood that's going on right now? If anyone, blame Samulesson. His useless shot costed us a chance to put it away.

    TSN NHL Page Picture

That was a fight between Brad Norton and Nick Tarnasky during a pre-season game this. Of all fights to choose, interesting they choose that won. I really don't remember it all that well, but I'm sure Tarnasky won (mainly because Norton is a terrible fighter).

Red Wings not named Datsyuk Goal Drought: 185:37

Can I ask a question here? Where exactly did the nickname "Pasha" come from? Where does that come out of Datsyuk? Or is it a LGW joke I've never heard yet?

    Shootout lineup from the game

Samulesson almost made me explode after watching him in the shootout. What a wasted attempt. Hudler or Calder would have certainly been good choices. But Samulesson? I don't think I've ever seen him deke much less take a shot that didn't go in the goalies chest.

    Fighting?

That would be too much for anyone to handle! Fighting should very well stay. It's already majorly reduced from what it was a few years ago. If they take fighting out of the game, you will see a who lot of cheapshots with the sticks. After reading the TSN article, I have to say something. They say that European leagues and College hockey don't have fighting, and the NHL should consider that based on those two not having it.Well, there's a very different constrant on the type of players in these leagues. My consensis is this: In European leagues, most players are skilled finesse guys anyways. You will rarely see an enforcer come out of a European league (exceptions of course being Oliwa, Nazarov, Ivanans, etc.). But for the majority most people who desend from a European league aren't full time fighters. In College hockey all of the players are young teenagers that are under the full watch of any school official. Playing College hockey is just like playing High School Hockey, and they want to model it around a school environment, in which most schools don't allow fighting (I can't even think of one that would). So there you have it. There is legitimate reasons why these leagues don't have fighting. The NHL is different. It has a lot of hard nosed Canadians and Americans, and the tougher Europeans at that, and if you take it away there will be a lot of violence in others forms (stickwork). Getting rid of fighting will not solve anything.

    Samuelsson Fruitless Shot Count

Samulesson was a real putz last night. Generally I've tried to support him and convince people he's not that bad, but if he's going to play in the playoffs like he did last night then I just assume sit him. He really shows very little effort, which is why his shots are from such strange places. I don't know if it's the injury or what, but he can be a major puss sometimes when he sees someone coming at him.

Who's on your Red Wings Jersey?

I have an Yzerman jersey, which I always wear when I go to games, or just sometimes in general.

Thoughts on Bertuzzi after first game as a Wing?

Bertuzzi played very good in my opinion last night. He wasn't afraid to deliver checks when he seen guys coming, and he wasn't afraid to drive the net either. I also like the standing ovations he got after going to the net and before his shootout attempts. That was pretty cool seeing that.

    Sergei Fedorov boos

I was suprised to see the Columbus players speek out like that, but they are right. Because there was a few jackasses at that game last night that would let it go, it makes the Wings look bad.
  22. Kp-Wings

    Sergei Fedorov boos

I don't advocate the booing at all. I did when Fedorov left, and wanted to rip his face off just as much as anyone else. But I look back at it now, and it's stupid to boo him. He left me with a lot of memories, and despite his sometimes petty attitude, he was always one of my favorite players with the Wings. It just doesn't seem right to boo him anymore. And as someone already said, it's a huge bonus not having his contract count against the cap. You know what I really don't understand though? People come down on Fedorov when he comes here, yet I remember people saying they would cheer Shanahan when he comes back to Joe Louis. I don't get that. Why should Fedorov be booed and Shanahan not?

    Red Wings attendance is DISGUSTING!

Another attendance thread... One thing you should note: If you watch games on TV and notice how quite the games are, you should more or less blame FSN Detroit for turning the microphones so low that you hear nothing beyond Ken and Mickey. I have noticed that on NBC games the crowd is a little bit noticably louder. Another factor of course comes into play: It's Columbus. Nobody gets up for watching them. The Jackets have yet to even compete for a playoff spot in their existance, and once you get beyond Vyborny, Nash, and to an extent Fedorov, there is little to no skill on that team at all. I say this as a whole, even though they did beat the Wings last night. They really only beat them because the Wings were lazy. If the Wings were at the top of their game last night, they would have blown the Jackets clear out of the water. And of course, the Joe is a corperate arena. Even if you are a diehard fan, unless you're rich, you're not going to be able to ****** up a ticket before a corperate company does. edited for grammar
