Yeah, Brodeur is probably the only actual "star" on New Jersey. Sure they have guys like Elias, Madden, and Rafalski, but they still have nothing on Brodeur and don't nearly save the team quite like Brodeur does. Without Brodeur, New Jersey would probably be a sub-500 team. You live in Jersey, so you probably have a better view than I do. Is my assumption correct?

What are they supposed to say? "Oh woops, we forgot to put that season on there! For all intents and purposes though, lets give the cup to Montreal anyways". When people look back through the history, they'll know what's going on. I really don't think it's a big deal that that's the way they inturpreted the loss of a season. They could have said "Bettmans an ass, blame him he sucks lol" and while that's all true, it wouldn't be fitting. Just keep it simple and to the point.

I would never want Lamoriello as a GM. He is an ok GM, but god damn, he builds the most boring product ever assembled. No wonder the Devils have no fan base. The fact that the Devils could put a Librarien to sleep obviously assembles from Lamoriello. He has the power to make the team a little, just a little, more interesting to watch, yet he doesn't. I admit that the style he chooses does win, but it sure doesn't make the game look very good.

Unless Toronto hires Mike Milbury or Mike O'Connell, this trade will never happen. No sane GM would actually do it. No offense to Draper, but Tucker is higher value than just Draper. Despite how much many hate him and hate the way he plays, he is a good player.

This coming at a time when Steve had a lot of injury problems and was beginning to age quite fast. And being that he basically played the 2002 series on one leg, that is a horrible comparison. His point totals in the playoffs were very good before all that, so stop. And this thing you say of Datsyuk not being a goal scorer: Generally he is used on this team to put up points. Babcock doesn't put him out there to check people or fight. He puts him out there to put up points. But he hasn't been doing that, yet this is ok with you. It's not just goals. His assist totals in the playoffs haven't exactly been dynamite either. But yet, this is all ok with you that a player who is supposed to put up points is not, yet we should not come down on him at all. Strange logic really. And I'm going to state off the record that you were knocking Steve just by bringing him into the subject.

Actually Fedorov has been impressing me lately. Not by offense of course, which he has very little of anymore, but he has been solid playing on the blueline. I was watching a few Columbus games on CenterIce (mostly because they were playing other teams that I was going to watch) and Fedorov did look pretty good. As far as bringing him back here though... It would have to be for a major discount. Peanuts if you will. He is an ok player, but not worth the 6 million he makes now. If he came for cheaper though, I'd welcome him back.

As far as I've heard, Carey Price is a really good goalie in Juniors, and has the potential to be a really good NHL goalie at the same time.

Huet was pretty good until he got hurt. And let us not forgot: Theodore was in his prime in Montreal. He won the Vezina and, even bigger than that, the Hart trophy. Those Habs teams had the goaltending, just no offense.

I like the idea of moving the Coyotes. The fan base is horrible, and since the team is LOSING money it should be fine. Contracting or moving a team that is losing money really shouldn't be too big of a deal.

I agree with everything in that article. There's really nothing that can be done to restore the others as far as this season goes. You look at the figures here. Chicago has been bad for a while now, and Bill Writz is more concerned about saving money at all costs rather than build a team that can win. The same basically goes for Boston, where Jeremy Jacobs will try and find every possible way to be a cheapskate. The other three teams (Toronto, Montreal, NY Rangers) are run by big corperations as previously mentioned earlier. Toronto is the biggest debacle, having the Ontario Teachers assosiation running half the team. The Rangers more or less have a bad GM. Despite his past management savvy in Edmonton, Glen Sather is just a shadow of his former self. He would have, for one, been smart to not get Jaromir Jagr. While you do get a player with a lot of skill, you all get a moody, self centered baby who is perhaps the biggest locker room cancer in the league next to Sean Avery. Now do you wonder why they suck? As far as Montreal, I really don't know the ownership situation up there. I guess people can't perform up there though, being with all the history in that team and so fourth. So there you have it. I think these teams will turn around soon, and I really hope they do. Even with past rivalrys, I'd so much rather root for a good Chicago team rather than a good Anaheim or Nashville team. Same goes for a good Toronto team over a good Atlanta team or Florida team. I'd like to see a few of them turn it around.

Again, I highly doubt it's true. This rumor is coming from a man who did not get a single trade right at the trade deadline. He's the one who said the Wings would get Bill Guerin. He said that Shane Doan was going to the Islanders. He even said Columbus goalie Pascal Leclaire, while on IR, whould be traded to Minnesota. That, and a whole bunch of other crap that ended up being wrong. He's lost all credability since then. I just go on his website now for comical purposes!
