Denis Shvidki. I think he's pretty much given up on the NHL though.

Is this years draft really that bad? I've heard rumors that it's probably not going to be as good as some past drafts, but this is rediculous. I've never seen so many first round picks being thrown around from team to team like this. And by the way, Rivet is not that good. So don't say we should have gotten him.
-
Exactly. Considering the Islanders haven't made it past the first round since 1993, and clearly Blake wasn't playing for them then, it's hard to judge Blake's playoff numbers when he's been on a team that hasn't won a playoff series since he's been there.
-
Jason Blake is a way better goal scorer than Dan Cleary. The past four seasons he's had over or around 50 points. Cleary has yet to hit 40. The comparison is not even close.
-
Or Williams. Even tough Bertuzzi hasn't played since October, I still think we'd have to give up a little more than that. Considering Jacques Martin wants Patrick Eaves and a first round draft pick from Ottawa for Gary Roberts, I don't think it'll come that easy.

Great article! Zetterberg certainly does deserve Hart nomination. He's so much more well-rounded than Crosby too, considering Zetterberg is such a good defensive forward.

As if the Oilers haven't done enough to the Wings the past year or so. Knocked us out of the playoffs, dominated us in the regular season this year, so on and so fourth. I just can't wait to get the last laugh when MacTavish and the boys up in the freezerbox have to sit on their butts at home because they couldn't make the playoffs.

I can see why Lang is upset, playing on a line with Williams and all. In all seriousness though, Lang really needs to pick it up. He is so lazy out there sometimes, it's sickening. I just don't know what we can do with him right now.

4 out of 10 on Saturday. Lucky I picked Columbus on the upset over the Rangers.
-
Yes! I am pro getting Jason Blake. He'd be the perfect fit on that second line. Getting Blake and a fourth line grinder like Fedoruk or Lapointe (if worse comes to worse ) and I think this team is pretty much set. I think getting Blake would be the perfect spark for Robert Lang, and maybe get him scoring again.

I agree. Especially their trade they made yesterday. I cannot believe they would trade a future top defensemen in Braydon Coburn for an aging Alexei Zhitnik. Not to mention trading one of the most physical d-men in the NHL (Vitaly Vishnevski) earlier this month.
-
What an offensive powerhouse second line we have now! Lang, Williams, and now Franzen! HELLO BABCOCK! Do Hudler and Filppula not exist? Please, why doesn't he play these two on the second line? Franzen on the second? WTF is all I can say.

Get well soon Freddie.

Let's be resonable, Kenny. No Yashin sized deals, please.

Cleary should not be on the second line, considering he's not a second line player. His hot streak was really only that. I highly doubt he'll get on a roll like that again. He's a defensive minded forward, kinda like Bates Battaglia on Toronto. I like Dan Cleary, but he's not a second line player. And Lang... Well, he's lazy and he sucks. What more can be said?

Since I imagine you live in Michigan, you would pick up the Leafs feed on CBC. Toronto is closer to Detroit than Ottawa.

It's Guerin time! Seriously, this doesn't hurt my feelings any. I wasn't really a big Tkachuk fan anyways.

Is Bryan Marchment still playing? Last I heard he was with the Flames last season, but I haven't heard much about him lately.

Holland: Wings won't deal unless prices come down
Kp-Wings replied to Mighty Wings's topic in General
Why are we still on this thing with not signing Guerin last summer? He was horrible in Dallas, and nobody wanted him. Did you see a big line of teams calling him up with offers? Unless there's something that I don't know, then no. The only team that was willing to give him what he wanted was St. Louis, who finished dead last, and were in need of players after Dean McCammond stated he did not want to play for the Blues anymore. That, combined with their already too many rookies and not enough veteran leadership, meant St. Louis needed someone like Guerin, so they gave him what he wanted. He suprised everyone by having such a good season, and because St. Louis is not going to make the playoffs, his name is mentioned as a good suiter for a playoff team. But stop saying Holland should have went out and signed Guerin in the offseason. What if he would have came here and bombed out compleatly? Then what? We'd be stuck with him, and Holland would have been an idiot for signing. Nobody could have predicted he'd have this good of a season. While I don't always agree with what Holland does, I do agree with him not signing Guerin back then. If Guerin would have came here and sucked, we would be stuck with his large contract and there's nothing we could have done. It's over and done with, so let it go. -
...and Brian Finley. Though his health (groin) certainly is a concern. As a former top 10 draft pick, his groin has really slowed his development down.
-
He'd certainly be a good pickup, but who would we trade? Williams? Get real. The only logical choice is to give up some of the teams better prospects. Since Jokinen is signed for long term, I might even go as far as to say Kyle Quincey might be a decent choice to throw in the mix. Florida is desperate for some better defensemen, and a yound d-man like Quincey (along with others of course) could interest them. I'm not really pro trading Quincey though, since he's developing pretty good in GR, and looks to be a pretty solid defensemen.
