The Islanders are still in the playoff hunt. So tell me why they would get rid of their leading scorer in Jason Blake?
-
Since there is no way in hell we are going to trade him, unless it's for a bag of pucks, why not waive him? I'm not saying give the AHL'ers his spot, but god damn, he is so worthless there's nothing else we can do with him. Tell me why he doesn't deserve to be waived. His 58 points last year? Yeah, and he hasn't done s*** this year. So in my book, waiving him is the only thing we can do.

Corey Perry is worth more than Hudler. So Anaheim will most likely get Bertuzzi if they want him. But really though, Bertuzzi hasn't played since October, so really I could care less if we lose out to Anaheim.
-
We need him back. I don't think they should rush him or anything, but anything to get Williams lazy ass out of the lineup will take. Kopecky does bring a physical presence too, which is sorely needed.

Wings' offer for Forsberg (as well as other teams)
Kp-Wings replied to Mighty Wings's topic in General
Why not just waive Williams then? The chances of getting rid of him are getting worse and worse every time he steps on the ice. Missing a clear empty net against Phoenix is a sign of that. -
At least Mowers has done it before. I'd like to see Williams try a move like that without getting laid out because he's so slow. And yes, I've even gone as far as to say that Mark Mowers is better than Williams. And he is.

And even then, the Devils offense is so bad they'd be lucky to score 2 goals a game. I really don't see any real danger teams in the east. Buffalo used to be, but they have so many injuries now their roster looks more like the Rochester Americans at this point.

Good idea!

He's actually younger then Chelios. But even then, the suggestion of bringing him back was more of a joke rather than a real suggestion.

So the meaningless goal from Ovechkin, which was extremely lucky to even come close to the net, was better then the goal Yzerman scored to win that series? Let's also take a look at the significance of these goals. Yzermans goal won them the series, in overtime nonetheless. Ovechkin's goal came at the tail end of a game that was already a blowout. And yes, it really meant something in the long run too, considering the Capitals finished 14th in the Eastern Conference, and were 5th worst in the league. The two aren't even comparable, so don't even try. And I'd like to add something on the Ovechkin goal: Is it a big deal only because he scored it? What would have happened if a 4th liner on Washington would have scored it? Would anyone have taken as much notice to it?

That's Williams trade proposal #321 I think. Or have we hit higher already? Even if the Wings wanted Murray, which I kinda doubt, they'd have to give up more then that. Even with Murray's huge contract and lack of defensive play, he's worth more then a crappy forward, an even crappier defensemen, and a draft pick.

They did have a Montreal-Boston, and a Toronto-Boston game on there before. But that was just a rare moment. Their having a Wild-Devils game on? Wow, talk about a snoozer. There probably won't be more than 10 shots on goal on both sides because of the constant trapping.

There we go!

*waits for first Williams based trade proposal* Don't let me down people!

VS. basically does the same type of games all the time, mostly with the Atlantic division. It's always a Penguins-Flyers game, or a Devils-Rangers game. Or with those four interweaved somewhere. The NY Islanders have been on one time the whole season, while the other four have been at least 5 or 6 times. I'm really sick of the Penguins-Flyers games, because it's not even a contest. The same thing happens every time: The Penguins, mostly Crosby and Malkin, skate circles around Phillys dinosaurs like Hatcher and blow them out of the water. Then there's a little bit of cheap stuff going around, but nobody on the Penguins really follows it up, so it's not really even fighting. If there's a game I'm so sick of watching, it's a Penguins-Flyers matchup. I think every match between these two has been on either VS. or NBC this season, and it's really pathetic. edited for spelling

Edmonton fans: Damn! Lucky for them. Anaheim is awful when he's not in the lineup.

Analysis: Price for players Wings might want is going up quickly
Kp-Wings replied to Mighty Wings's topic in General
That, and he is the captain of the Capitals. Chris Gratton on the other hand... That is an interesting name I wouldn't mind seeing in a Red Wings jersey. For the right price anyways (Do not trade Kindl or Filppula). -

I can't even listen to this kind of stuff. WILLIAMS IS NOT A DEALBREAKER! Seriously people, he's not worth dick. You see his name mentioned as the guy we want to get rid of the most, so it's pathetic to even think we could get a bag of pucks for Williams. Williams for Smyth? Get real! I think Williams for Alexei Mikhnov is even asking for too much. The only way he's gone is if we get rid of him as part of a package deal (this is like the 8th time I've said this in a week). We will not get anything for him straight up. The first round pick you threw in there isn't very lucretive either, unless Kevin Lowe is throwing in the towel. -
Good post, as that is all true. I just hate the idea of Datsyuk making over 7 million a season. Everytime I think of that, the name "Alexei Yashin" manages to spit itself as I think of it. I really hope that if they do sign Datsyuk he doesn't have a roller coaster dropoff like Yashin did.

Hey, he'd be an upgrade over Lilja as a 7th defensemen. Williams is bad. It's just that simple. Everyone points to the concussion as the benefactor, but he wasn't that good even before it. And besides that, it was one hit. How does Lindros still manage to be a (somewhat) better player then Williams when he's had about 5 or 6 concussions over his career? I know Lindros is nothing of what he used to be, but he doesn't blow in every and all imaginable aspects like Williams does. And the shootout thing... Give me a break. Games don't go into a shootout every night of the week, so saving him for that purpose means he'd be taking up roster space for an event that might never happen. We don't need to save the roster space and cap room for a guy who does basically nothing. We might as well sign a 7 foot monster who will at least fight people if we need to be that vague with the final spot. Williams has no upside, so there is much better use that can be made with his roster spot.

Yeah, but Pittsburgh is lucky to have a backup like Jocelyn Thibault who could step in if anything happens to Fluery (assuming Thibault can stay healthy, and not injury his hip again).
-
I'm all for that. Look at how many teams score of off that idiotic penalty. It's rediculous. That penalty is what knocked Buffalo out of the playoffs last season (Carolina scored a PP goal that turned out to be the winner off of a penalty where a Buffalo player flipped the puck over the glass in the defensive zone). Of all the lame rules that the NHL currently has right now, this is by far the lamest.
-
Now that Eric Cairns is back in the lineup, the Pens finally have a designated tough guy to protect Crosby. That being said, I see very little weakness with this Pittsburgh team.

We can do better.
