Great stuff. Carcillo has quickly become a favorite of mine. He's not a bad hockey player, either. Just imagine if he hadn't missed so much time to injury this year. Could he have actually cracked 400 PIM's in a season? Hard to say, but it's something fun to think about anyways.
-
Haha. I'd say that was the one game in his entire career where he actually played good, and looked like he belongs in the NHL. Since then... well, you know... I seriously can't believe that, with all the ice time he get's, he only has 11 goals this season. That is absolutley pathetic. This guy get's more PP time than almost anyone on the team not named Datsyuk or Zetterberg, along with the huge amounts of playing time he get's anyways at even strength, yet he only has 11 freakin' goals to show for it. That is amazing... amazingly bad. ...and yet, we still have another season to put up with him, as he's under contract next year. *cries*

There is actually four if you count Drake. Intimidating!

Was Mike Smith or Karri Ramo in net for Tampa when they blew the 4-1 lead to Buffalo?

Wings GM says Chris Chelios likely to be back next year
Kp-Wings replied to zombiewing's topic in General
Chelios is better than Lebda and Lilja. Since Lebda is under contract, he will more than likely still be around by next year, which is bad. If that's the case, I'd rather have Chelios playing those minutes than Lebda, since he's better defensivily, in my opinion. It isn't going to kill the Wings to keep him around. At worst, it'll push one of either Lebda or Derek Meech out the door, which isn't really that bad when you think about it. Both of those guys are very easily replaceable, and it'll come either from guys like Quincey and Ericsson, or from free agents. -
Playoff tickets go on sale today, so that makes sense.

NHL Playoff slogan's... based on Seinfeld episodes..
Kp-Wings replied to interminded's topic in General
Haha, I love the Calgary one. Jackie Chiles is one of the best secondary charecter in the series. This thread is great. Seinfeld is the most relateable show on TV. -
That's like the story for everything regarding the Wings these days. I applaud the genious who came up with that term, because it fits for everything. Samuelsson? Lazy and sucks. Wings marketing staff? Lazy and sucks. It all fits together so perfectly!

I'm not sure that's appropriate for the Wings...

I wouldn't go that far, yet anyways. Franzen still needs to do that on an actual consistant basis. If only he did... could you imagine how good a player Franzen could be? If he actually developed a mean streak, he could be the next Dustin Brown. Oh, how one can dream...

Yeah, tell me about it. I love RRP2 as a goal song (and I'm glad the Wings started playing it this year), but the Predators fans completely ruin it with that "You suck!" chant at the end. It's so lame.

I said Bettman would like to see Nashville become successful. I never said they were successful now.
-
Wouldn't surprise me if it was. These are the same geniuses that came up with "Fire On Ice", among other things, so you can't expect too much from the Wings PR/marketing staff.
-
Parity exists because Bettman instituted the Salary Cap. The Salary Cap, and the CBA for that matter, exists because Bettman didn't want big market teams like Detroit, Philly, NY Rangers, Toronto, Boston, etc. to become league powerhouses by buying star players from the free agency market. He'd rather see failure markets like Nashville and Anaheim become successful, so that instead of 20 fans going out to watch the games, 30 would go instead.
-
Hehe, your sig is pretty cool. It speaks volumes on my thoughts of Samuelsson.
-
Can anyone tell me how Lilja ever made it to the NHL? This guy is far and away the worst defenseman I've ever seen. He makes Kuznetsov look like a Norris Trophy winner.
-
TIMBERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!! There it is folks, the Wings lead has fallen like a tree. No fights.
-
Well, Lou, you called it! Nashville makes it close again, which means Downey probably won't play.
-
Even so, what's to say there will even be any fights? Remember how everyone was so exited about that Vancouver game, only to see what a horribly boring, uneventful game it turned out to be? Believe me, I'd love to see a bench clearing brawl, as you know very well I'm one of the fight fans on this forum, but I just don't see it happening.
-
You guys are getting your hopes up wayyyyyyyyyy too high as far as these potential fights are concerned. I'll bet you that Downey sees the ice once, maybe twice, total in the 3rd period. Unless the Wings are flat out blowing away their opponent, Downey never plays past the 2nd period.

I remember him. The Wings got Larionov back when they dumped Golubovsky in Florida.

"Hockey" and "ABC" being used in the same sentance? Is this 2003 or something?

I noticed that as well. And really, it's hard to even count Ozolinsh as added size, since he doesn't use his size at all. I have nothing against Ozolinsh, but he isn't a physical player by any means. I guess you can consider Brian Campbell as added grit, but is he really? Aside from that one highlight hit he layed on some guy from Philly a couple of years ago (Umberger I think it was), he really doesn't intimidate anyone, at least it doesn't seem like that to me. He does drop the gloves every now and again, but he's not really all that physical, since he's more offensive minded, and is used as such.

If Hudler continues to play on the 4th line, then it's not such a ridiculous decision. I'm sorry, but Hudler is probably the worst checking line forward I have ever seen in my entire life, next to Josh Langfeld or Mark Mowers. He's only effective if he's playing top line minutes, and the only time that happens is when the Wings M*A*S*H unit is out playing, and there is nobody else to put up there. I'm not a big Hudler fan by any means, but I'd rather have him get more minutes than Samuelsson, but it's never going to happen in a million years. Babcock loves Samuelsson (it's sickening how much he compliments his play). He's the most likely choice to take out of there, but it won't happen. If McCarty actually came back and didn't suck, then why not consider it? I mean, the job of a 4th line player is to hit, be physical, play defensivily, etc. Hudler does none of those things. He's an offensive minded player, but if he's not going to be used in a offensive role, than there is no point in playing him. He is not a 4th line player, and is terrible at playing that role.
