The Scorpions - No One Like You

It's because nobody got injured, and because Woywitka has no previous history. If, say, Steve Downie or Chris Simon had done something of that nature instead, the situation would have been different.

I can't believe it's been 11 years since that all happened. It feels like it was so recent... I don't know why, but it does. I, and pretty much every Wings fan, will never forget that night. I absolutley loved watching our boys kick the s*** out of that stupid idiot team in Colorado. McCarty vs. Claudia, Vernon vs. Patricia, Shanny vs. Patricia... wow, those were really some great battles! I love that video, by the way. It has all the fights, and it's a perfect song to go with it. Filter is a great band, so naturally it would fit so well with such a good video.

I'm so happy the Wings re-signed Cleary. He's really grown on me since last season. He's a hard working, blue collar charecter guy that the Wings really need more of. He set's the tone with his hard work, and he's been a great fit for this team. I would have been so disappointed (and angry!) if the Wings had let him walk. His value to this team is huge, and there aren't many guys you can replace him with. It's something that I don't say enough, so I'll say it now...... Good...... job...... Ken...... Holland......

Yeah, that's true. Cowlishaw is actually a pretty decent hockey fan. He's one of the very few guys that actually likes hockey, which is nice that at least one person on ESPN does. It's supposed to be a national sports network, yet they treat the the sport of hockey like dirt. Things weren't always that way; remember the Rob Ray commercial with him fighting some delivery guy to promote ESPN's coverage of the NHL? You can't say that the NHL doesn't deserve it, because it is a screwed up league in many, many ways (thanks, Gary!), but the fact that they bash the sport in general when they don't even know about it is what I don't like about it. Especially Reali. This guy doesn't watch any sport outside of basketball, which, in my opinion, is the worst out of the four major sports, so why the heck is this blowhard talking about sports he doesn't even watch? It makes no sense that he even has a job.

Anyone else here watch Coaches Corner earlier and catch that little piece of comedic gold? I mean, it's been apparent for a while that Grapes is way off somewhere in right field, but I think this is the indicator that retirement might be in the near future. When you consider all the defenseman in the league, and that goes for anyone even outside of Lidstrom, and then he says Ed Jovanovski of all guys should win the Norris, you have to wonder sometimes... I still watch him, because he's an icon in hockey, but some of the stuff he says is so ridiculous. But, I guess at the same time, it does give people something to laugh about.

Cut and dry. Good one Lou!

I am admittingly one to eat crow on this. I had thought that, at the time, signing Datsyuk to that long term extension for that much money right before the playoffs was absolutley ridiculous. Datsyuk was coming off another bad playoff series, and you never knew what you were going to get with him (he had a very bad start to that season, if you can remember). He was inconsistant the rest of the season, despite putting up good numbers towards the end. I'm glad to say, though, that he really proved me wrong. He was fantastic during last years playoffs, and has been this entire season. At times, he's been the Wings best player. It's nice to see him really evolve into a real dependable scorer on this team. He is definitly worth the money he makes, and considering the outrageous, inflated, overpaid salaries of some other players in the league right now (Daniel Briere, I'm looking directly at you), he's a steal at just under seven million. It's great that the Wings do have him locked up, since it'll give them a great 1st line center and playmaker for years to come. Now, they just need to get Zetterberg re-signed.

Not unless the Flyers, Islanders, or Sabres still qualify.

I agree. It's very rare to find even decent power forwards who can score in the league anymore, and considering that, nobody will ever reach the level Neely did. If it wasn't for that loser Ulf Samuelsson, he'd have had a much longer career. He was really a great player. Plus, what other player in the NHL can say he's acted in two Jim Carrey movies?

My nomination for post of the year. This whole arguement about Inge is ridiculous. The Tigers have Cabrera, so why the hell would they completely waste and misuse him by giving the job to Inge? That seriously makes no sense to me at all. Who the hell cares if Inge has been here; Cabrera is still better. I also fail to see how Inge is the "face of the Tigers". He's been here for a while, but how does that make him the face of the team? He's not that good, and he's easily replaceable. Ordonez is probably the face of the Tigers, if they have one.

1. Steve Yzerman 2. Joey Kocur 3. Niklas Lidstrom 4. Cam Neely 5. Bob Probert

I'm not lying; he really did say that. I'll try to post the video of CBC's website puts it up, but it's hard to really get access of Coaches Corner videos online. If I find the video, I'll post it.

No way. Maybe throw Datsyuk and Rafalski in instead, and I might think about, but no way in hell do you ever trade Lidstrom, even if it's for Crosby.
-
For whoever was wondering, Fedorov was the last guy to get 100 points on the Wings, with 107 points back in the 1995-1996 season.
-
Haha, I couldn't agree more. Drake is so damn useless. Here I thought when the Wings signed him, they'd be getting a physical player who'd go out and take guys heads off, making the Wings tougher and more feared. Yet, instead, they got another PK guy, which is something they didn't need at all, considering there are about six other guys on the team that already kill penalties on a regular basis. I'm personally thrilled about McCarty coming back, and hopefully, he brings some form toughness into this lineup. It's really a crying shame that Downey is the only guy on this team who's willing to do any dirty work, especially considering the sport of hockey is mainly based around that.

Big ******* deal. I love how people jump on a guys bandwagon around here when he get's a point or two, not realizing that for the past month or so, that said player was completely invisable and as useless as they come. Take Maltby for example: the guy goes 36 games without scoring a goal, and when he scores one, everyone is back on the bandwagon. Samuelsson sucks. I don't care what you do to convince me otherwise, I will never like him. Considering the ice time he get's, he should have a lot more than a whopping 10 goals. As much as I don't like Hudler, I'd rather see him get the ice time Samuelsson get's, because at least he'll do something with it.
-
Why can't Samuelsson ever get hurt? I mean, seriously?

Good. Bruins need to start winning again, as I hope they make the playoffs.

I prefer Upper Bowl myself. They are cheaper, and you can see the game better. If you're going to spend the money for Lower Bowl seats (or shall I say take out a 2nd mortage for Lower Bowl seats), you might as well get behind-the-glass or something, since it's always fun to have close up seats like that. On a more realistic standpoint, though, I'd go with Upper Bowl, since that's usually what I buy whenver I do make it to a game, and I have no complaints (just don't get obstructed view, because those suck).

Closed to the public? Sounds like something Illitch and the Wings organization would say...
