This is why I constantly complain about his lack of spending during free agency. People bash me for it, but what's the point of having cap space if he doesn't plan on using it? You might as well just use it all up in free agents when you can, so it doesn't go to waste.

That list is awful. There is nobody that sounds appealing in Chicago. I honestly can't believe everyone is slobbering over Ruutu so much. This guy is quickly becoming a spent force. A serious knee injury has completely derailed his career. He was once the best player in the world outside of the NHL, but his knee injury has really ruined him. Has anyone even seen him play this season? He looks terrible. He's not the gritty, scoring forward he once was, so I don't know why anyone would want him. The Lapointe rumor is starting to piss me off. I will hate Holland so much if he brings him in. The Wings don't need anymore washed up, former Wings here. Their already dancing on the faultline in bringing back McCarty, so why risk it and bring in another like Lapointe? Doesn't make sense to me.

The Wings better do something. Every other team is improving themselves greatly for the playoffs, and the Wings will not be able to compete with their current lineup. Sorry, but this secondary scoring is such a joke, and it'll be totally in-effective in the playoffs.

I have to work all day, so no. I'll be going to bed soon, as it is.

If this deal is true, Tampa will be the better off team in the future. They finally get a goalie in Mike Smith, who is showing he can be a #1 goalie in the NHL, a decent checking line forward in Jeff Halpern, who will provide grit and defensive stability to the lineup, and a prospect in Fistric. Richards is a good player, but nowhere near worth the money he makes. That salary will handcuff them for quite a while, since he's still on the books for another 2-3 years.

Same here. I want him gone dammit!!!!
-
Haha, that makes me lol so much! Just imagine... Richards at 7.8 million, Khabibulin at 6.75 million, Havlat at 6 million... all that salary on a non-playoff team. Those guys are so monsterously overpaid, it's pathetic. The 'Hawks best player is Jonathan Toews. They can't survive without him. It's pretty funny how a team has all that salary (as of now, Khabibulin and Havlat anyways), yet their best player is a 19 year old who's making the league minimum. That's not at all taking anything away from Toews... what's it's saying is Dale Tallon is a horrible GM for handing out all of those contracts for overpaid, underachieving, underperforming players. I have nothing against Brad Richards, as I think he's a decent hockey player. But he makes way too much money, and if the Blackhawks got him, he'd only add to their underachieving, yet overpaid salary problem.

As funny as that would be, especially to see Simon go out and step on Pronger's face with his skate or something, the Wings would never get a player with the history that Simon has. Really, he should be out of the NHL anyways. He's an idiot, and that's putting it mildly.

I still don't buy this Hossa to Ottawa BS. I mean, why would a team that wanted him out of there so badly before now all of a sudden want to bring him back? It makes absolutley no sense at all, at least in my mind.
-
Wow. The Dives are back!!! This is great. I can once again start hating that team, just as I did before. It would be so awesome to see this rivalry renewed, especially because it would give the Wings an actual rival again. The Wings haven't had a decent rivalry since... jeez, I'd say 2002, the last time the Wings and Avalanche were rivals. The Wings desperately need a rival. Seriously. It'll put fans in the seats, and all around make games much more interesting and exiting.

I'd rather see it be Samuelsson for Fedorov straight up. Meech for Fedorov wouldn't be bad either, though, when you look at it. I really don't want Fedorov, unless Holland get's someone else as well. If Holland manages to get another scoring forward (I have no idea who, since Hossa is pretty much out of the mix, but somebody would be nice), and a tough, physical defenseman like Salei, then I'd be fine with the Fedorov move, since the Wings will have addressed other needs in the process. They can bring back Fedorov for their nostalgic purposes as well, so all will be happy. This, of course, all in the process of getting rid of the Shameful 4: Samuelsson, Hudler, Lebda, and Lilja. If Holland get's rid of these four players, I will be so happy, you wouldn't even believe it.

Finally! A trade! Hopefully this get's the wheels in motion for the Wings to make a move next. I really, really don't want to wait until tomorrow for the Wings to make a move, because I have to f***ing work all day, and I won't be able to find anything out until 9:00 at night. Regardless, hopefully there is a dominoe effect, and we start seeing more trades now.

Stuart = Yes Fedorov =

For the 100th time this season, I'll post what I already posted before regarding Lang: Over the summer, Ken Holland contacted Lang's agent, Petr Svoboda (yes, the same Petr Svoboda that played in the NHL, who is now a player agent). Holland told Svoboda that the Wings would not be offering his client, Lang, a contract, and was free to start looking for a new team to play with. Holland and Svoboda already have a relationship together, as Svoboda also works with many other NHL players, including the Wings own Jiri Hudler, making the situation easier for both sides. In short: I'd be very, very surprised if the Wings wanted a player that, for one, weren't even interested in re-signing over the summer. Besides that, Babcock and Lang did not see eye to eye, and Lang is not even having that great of a season. If he was, Chicago would probably not being trying to trade him.
-
But Samuelsson on the other hand... he brings plenty of that to the table...
-
Straight up? No way in hell that trade happens. Fedotenko is far and away a way better player than Samuelsson. He's bigger, more physical, has more scoring potential, and has proven a lot more in his career than Samuelsson has. He's having a good season this year as well. The only reason that trade happens is if Fedotenko is a UFA this summer, or the Wings catch the Islanders in a classic moment of stupidity, and somehow get him for nothing (ala Samuelsson). I otherwise cannot see that trade going down without someone else being involved, whether that be a Hudler or Lebda type of player, or a prospect.
-
But Eklund said he was going to Jersey! This can't be true, because that would make Eklund wrong!
-
Which is why I'm hoping for an identical deal involving that loser. One struggling player for another never hurts, you know. Samuelsson for Ryder. Make it happen, Kenny!
-
There were quite a few trades that happened last year on the day before the deadline, so I'm hoping things start to pick up tonight. My favorite trade was the Calder for Williams deal... not because I'm a Calder fan, but because it finally got rid of Williams being on the PP.
-
Nope, it was his 500th. The most goals by an American thing came this year, I think.
-
Haha, you saw right through me. The rumor sites are all clear, and the news of him going to Pittsburgh really makes me feel better.
-
Oh God... no... *cries*

Then why did he leave? You really don't buy that "it would be better for the young kids to develop" crap he spouted off on, do you? I remember Shanny commenting on how he was afraid the Wings wouldn't bring him back after the 2004 playoff series against Calgary because he played bad. Fast forward a lockout and one season later, and he just leaves. He had a great season that year, but he really didn't get anymore from New York that Detroit would have counter-offered. So, why the change of heart? Something didn't sit well with him obviously. Note: I hold nothing against Shanny for his decision. He'll always be one of my favorite players, and it's too bad things didn't work. But, things happen. Still, I firmly believe he wanted out of Detroit. Why else would he have left on his own, just two years after he said he didn't want to leave?
