Best post in this entire topic. I completely agree.
-
Oh no, I wasn't referring to you in that post. There is one particular person (whose name I won't mention) who does it all the time, though, and it's pretty ridiculous.
-
Haha, only two? Give me a break. While there are a ton of people who bash Samuelsson, there are a ton of people who defend him with their lives as well. I've all but given up bashing on Samuelsson, because I'm tired of the personal attacks that are thrown at me if I dare say anything bad about him.
-
I know Samuelsson is worse, but if I dare create a Samuelsson bashing thread, certain members (whose names I'd love to mention, just to be a dick, but I won't) will have a heart attack if anyone ever says anything bad about Samuelsson, who, in their eyes, is the God of hockey. As for Filppula... because he can do other things, he doesn't stand out quite as much, but I definitly agree. Filppula has been a big disappointment as well. It stands to reason as he has even less of an excuse, because he get's more ice time.

With the current roster, no, the Wings probably can't beat either of these teams. They have no scoring consistancy with anyone beyond the top line, which will be their downfall in the playoffs.
-
It's already been done...
-
You're opening up a huge can of worms with that post, just to let you know...
-
I'd trade Samuelsson for a flaming bag of dog s***. That's about all he's worth anyways.
-
What's to stop Chris Chelios from playing FOREVER??!! Hehe, just kidding. Great article, by the way. I'd love to see Chelios play that long.
-
The Wings will go nowhere with their current roster. I know my extreme lack of faith will probably piss some people off, but seriously. They have no secondary scoring at all. I mean, when Babcock is now going to be relying on Franzen (who is NOT a top 6 forward) for that role, you can tell things are bad. Plus, Kronwall seems like he's still a long time from coming back, and I will be extremely... let's say disappointed (but I could use a lot of other words as well) if Meech is getting regular minutes in the playoffs.

Sorry, but I already did so. Looks like that's where he'll end up. I honestly can't see how Meech will ever forage an NHL career, unless the Wings continue to shove useless players on their roster to "fill holes". The guy is small, has very little offensive capabilities, not great defensivily, and is far from physical. The only reason his juniors numbers were any good was that his defensive partner was Dion Phaneuf. A bag of beans could get noticed if playing with a player like Phaneuf. Why do you think he was drafted in the top 10, and makes almost 7 million a season now? Meech is garbage. You know, I've never been a big fan of players who only make the team because they would otherwise have to be placed on waivers (Kopecky), and it's no different with Meech. If he could still be sent down to GR, that's where he would be, because he is not an NHL defenseman.
-
The ™ goes before the end of the sentence. What's wrong with you?
-
I wouldn't go that far. Look at how many s***ty, useless players are currently clogging up the Wings roster as it is. Nothing will stop Meech from having a spot on this team... NOTHING!
-
That's exactly why I said it. It's funny to see how the people here can go from a seemingly normal person into a blood thirsty goblin just because someone makes a trade proposal that's meant to be a joke anyways.
-
Haha... George W. Bush will be re-elected to a 3rd term before the Wings go out and aquire a player like Erskine... isn't going to happen.
-
Trade Meech? Sure, I'll take Kovalchuk for Meech straight up.
-
It's about time! Wow, I can't tell you how happy I am. Finally, an incentive to go to a Red Wings game again live. This is great news! I'm looking even more forward to the playoffs now.

What do you think the problem is for our current slump?
Kp-Wings replied to Lady in REd's topic in General
Hopefully at least one for sure, and I hope it's Brad Stuart. He's younger than Blake, has just as much offensive capability, and won't cost as much either. He's who I'm really hoping for. -
I made this very same connection about a month ago, and was blasted right out of the website from everyone for saying that. Nice to see someone else noticing the same comparison. Lebda, though, is not the worst defenseman, as that role goes to Meech. He's small, slow, and weak, and he's been physically outshown by even the s***tiest of players this season. I swear, those people who still insist that this guy has potential need to take off their rosy homer glasses, and go get a job at Leafs TV or something. After seeing him play the last couple of games, it really shows how terrible he is. Holland absolutely needs to get a defenseman at the deadline. I'm not much of a Lilja or Lebda fan, but even they are better than Meech. If Kronwall is going to continue to toil on the IR for the rest of his career, then the Wings need another option back on the blueline, because Meech should not, under any circumstance, see ice time in the playoffs.

I agree. Plus, the longer this goes on, the more it convinces Holland, as well as some of the blind homers, that this team isn't perfect, and does need to make a move come trade deadline time. The secondary scoring on the Wings is a joke, and they have no defensive depth either. I will call Holland every name in the book if he doesn't get another defenseman, and Meech ends up playing regular minutes in the playoffs. -
This is the one point I disagree with you on. While Gleason isn't the offensive force he was expected to be, he's a hard nosed player that all teams love to have on their blueline. I'd love it if the Wings got Gleason somehow (he's also a Michigan native), but since it's Carolina we're talking about, I don't see it happening. The rest I agree with you on, though. Rutherford is the most overrated GM in the league. The guy really get's his coattails curled from the rest of the league, and it's just ridiculous sometimes the compliments this guy get's. He's not that great of a GM.
-
<----------------------- The guy in my avatar (Brad Stuart) is who I want. I honestly don't see the Wings getting him, though, because Holland "doesn't want to trade roster players, nor prospects", which basically translates into no trade at all.

It seems like every soft, terrible player is linked to this team in some way or another. Toni Lydman? Come on. If the Wings want a s*** defenseman, go out and get Marek Malik. At least he has size (plus he kicked Avery's ass in practice ).
