Interesting list there. The only real noteworthy player on it is Mike Green, who has established himself as an outstanding defenseman. Teslios and Munro were both huge busts. McCarthy is still in the NHL, but isn't all that great. Slater is an ok checking line player. Tambellini seems to be stuck toiling in the minors, so the jury is still out on him. Summers is very young, and still playing College hockey, so he's a ways off. Out of that list, I'd take Green, and possibly Slater, Tambellini or Summers. All in all though, it doesn't really look like much translated from those picks.

It's also funny that only one of those two players were actually Wings draft picks. Cleary was a 1st round pick, but he wasn't selected by Detroit.

Because, maybe, their the only team that poses a real threat to the Wings, and are probably the Wings only true rivals right now? I don't understand why you seem to have a problem with almost every thread that appears on here anymore. There is only so much you can discuss with the Red Wings themselves. I see no problem with talking about other teams, but hey, that's just me.

I can't really think of a true #1 worst, but there are definitly some bad ones. Here are some that come to mind: 1996: Pittsburgh Penguins trade Markus Naslund to the Vancouver Canucks for Alek Stojanov (loser: Pittsburgh) 1996: Montreal Canadians trade Patrick Roy and Mike Keane to the Colorado Avalanche for Jocelyn Thibault, Martin Rucinsky, and Andrei Kovalanko (loser: Montreal) 1990: Detroit Red Wings trade Adam Oates and Paul MacLean to the St. Louis Blues for Bernie Federko and Tony McKegney (loser: Detroit) 1992: Quebec Nordiques trade Eric Lindros to the Philadelphia Flyers for Peter Forsberg, Ron Hextall, Steve Duchesne, Mike Ricci, Chris Simon, Kerry Huffman, two 1st round draft picks (which became Jocelyn Thibault and Nolan Baumgartner), and $15 million in cash (loser: Philadelphia) 2005: Boston Bruins trade Joe Thornton to the San Jose Sharks for Brad Stuart, Wayne Primeau, and Marco Sturm (loser: Boston) 1986: Vancouver Canucks trade Cam Neely and a 1st round draft pick (which became Glen Wesley) to the Boston Bruins for Barry Pederson (loser: Vancouver) There are plenty of others as well. I'll post some more later.

I love Vinny. He is, in my opinion, one of the best all around players in the game. He can do just about anything, whether it be score, hit, win faceoffs, play defensivily, and even fight. There are not many high profile players that can do what he does, and it's a shame that he doesn't get that much credit. The only thing he lacks is leadership, but he makes up for it in the rest of his game.

Should the NHL have first round byes in the playoffs?
Kp-Wings replied to ProfessorLidstrom5's topic in General
Agreed. I have some old matchups against Toronto and Chicago on tape, and those are some amazingly entertaining games. Nothing in the NHL today can compare to the old divisional matchups of the 80's/90's. -
That's great!

Oilers trade Tarnstrom to Jackets for Glencross
Kp-Wings replied to Detroit # 1 Fan's topic in General
Tarnstrom is decent. He used to be a real big point producer for the Penguins pre-lockout, so he has the potential. He probably needs more ice time, since he wasn't getting it in Edmonton. -
Nice to see Downey make his way into the lineup, especially since there weren't any injuries to deal with. He's a lot more useful than Drake. I think his presence in the lineup kind of settled Colorado down after they came out and were hitting everybody after the play. It was quite a boring game for the most part, but it's still a good win for the Wings. Glad to see Zetterberg score the winner, and continue his scoring pace.

"Sandstorm" is played by just about every DJ in the league before a PP. I like the song personally, so I have no problem with it. The Wings DJ isn't great, but he's slowly becoming a little better. At least he finally decided to play a different goal song this year (Rock and Roll Part 2, also known as the "Hey" song), and he sometimes plays some newer stuff. He's not that bad. The music isn't really that big of a deal with me. Granted, I do wish he'd play better music on a more regular basis (I like classic rock, but stuff from bands like "Chicago" just does not fit a hockey game), but he plays some decent stuff. It just depends on the night I guess.

I might take Kilger for Samuelsson straight up, but nothing more. All three of those guys suck. Antropov is overated and injury prone, Gill is a pansy for his size, and Kilger is only a so-so player anyways. None of them are physical, and both Antropov and Gill are still under contract for a few years. I do not like the thought of having guys like that handcuffing the team.

Good. I didn't really want Dumont anyways. He's a good player, no doubt, but the fact that he turned down more money from Holland back in the summer of 2006 to sign with Nashville instead makes me think he's got something against the Wings, or the city of Detroit. He might have been a problem.
-
No way Suter get's that kind of money. He's a good player, but he's not worth nearly 7 million a season. He was even a healthy scratch a couple times this season (all be it after returning from injury, but still). Now... Shea Weber on the other hand...

You're crazy if you think lame ass players like Meech and Grigorenko are going to be any sort of selling point for other teams. Almost every team has their own Derek Meech (small, non physical, offensive minded defenseman) type players, so that's not going to a big drawing name at all. If you want both Blake and Cammalleri at the same time, you better be prepared to shell players with actual value, like Hudler, Filppula, Kindl, Quincey, Helm, Howard, and a variety of others. Maybe not all of them, but certainly a good few.
-
It's either that, Samuelsson bashing, or discussing the need for grit. Take your pick. Personally, I prefer the ladder two choices, since those are both discussions I love to be a part of...
-
Great news! He needs to stay healthy, because he's finally rounding into form. Hope he can make it back soon, since with him gone, that means more ice time for guys like Lebda and Meech...
-
That's the best one I've seen so far. You know how to describe his bad play quite well in depth.
-
I honestly can't think of who the more useless player is here: Lebda or Meech. Hehe, since I can't reach a decision, I'll just call it a draw.
-
This was bound to eventually happen. It's quite a shame that the players that I like always manage to get hurt in some way. Maybe I should start liking Samuelsson more... Oh well. Cue the Rob Blake/Adam Foote/Marek Malik to Detroit rumors now. They should be in full swing in the coming days.
-
Thanks. I feel much better now.

Wow, only 30 comments on a GDT thread? Was it that boring of a game? IMO, I didn't watch it yet. Very busy night for me, so I DVR'd it.
-
So did about 7 other teams. Columbus expressed interest in not trading within the Central Division. Besides that, why would they trade with a divisional opponent when their still in the hunt for the playoffs?
-
Haha, you sound like the Blues fans that post on here. Is that you CPrice?

Don't forget the cigars and vodka.
