Toronto doesn't have to worry about ever lowering their ticket prices. Their fans are too stupid to realize what a bad team they are. I'm still going to complain about the Wings ticket prices, until something is done about it. And really, you can't compare the Wings to the Leafs. Yes, the Leafs tickets are ten times more expensive, but keep in mind that the Leafs still sellout pretty much every game, and don't have major attendance issues like the Wings do.

Hehe, Steve Begin must have been really intimidated by the presence of the PAIN TRAIN. He grabbed onto him like their was a tornado coming or something.

Haha, the Wings won't get that opportunity if they get beat up first. The reasoning behind mine (and others as well) for wanting Boll is this: the Wings have two guys in particular right now, Tomas Kopecky and Dallas Drake, that contribute absolutely nothing to the team. They only both get a few minutes a night, and when they do play, they don't do s*** out there. So, if you're going to have a bunch of guys who never play that much, why not have someone who will at least provide you with physical play and maybe even a fight in his 4-6 minutes a night? They have Downey, but even Downey isn't all that much. It's funny: people use the term "power forward" to describe Kopecky, who is anything but, yet when Boll's name get's thrown around, people call him a useless goon who can't do anything. I'm really starting to think people are afraid to have a tough guy on this team anymore, because of that whole Brad Norton debacle. Boll isn't a bad hockey player. Obviously you haven't watched the guy play at all, because unlike Parros and Ivanans (the previous two you mentioned), Boll is not a one-dimensional fighter like those two. He put up respectable numbers in juniors, and has the potential to do that in the NHL as well.

Get real. Lower ticket prices in Detroit? Have you ever heard of such a thing? Man, I can't wait until the playoffs roll around to see how bad of a disaster the attendance is again. Then the media will point out Wings fans as being losers who don't want to support their team, instead of pointing out the real problem, which is Illitch and his 200% price markups on playoff tickets. The Wings are truely a lameduck organization when it comes to fan support. All that winning from the glory years has turned the whole group into a bunch of moles with their heads buried in the dirt. Considering the amount of times that Loanshark himself has mentioned the economy problems, yet still refuses to drop ticket prices to reasonable levels (don't mention the $9 seats either, because you could get a better view in the parking lot than in those seats) is so irritating and stupid. Hehe, oh well. I don't attend games anymore, and I have my reasons. Maybe if Illitch and the rest of the old boy's club upstairs would get it together for once, you might see me (and many other disgruntled fans for that matter) start going to games again.

I think that, after reading that article, a bigger question comes to mind: who, and why, the hell did anyone ever compared the Senators to the Montreal Canadians dynasty's of the 1970's? The Senators have never even won a Cup yet, and have no where near the star power those teams had. The Canadian media blows. A Canadian hockey team hasn't won a Cup in, what has it been, 14 years now, and yet they still act like Canada has dominated hockey. Maybe in terms of the WJC, and the 2002 Olympics, but besides that, hockey Canada hasn't done s*** is forever. They need to get off their high horse already. I especially found it funny that, a couple of days ago, after the Maple Leafs beat the Washington Capitals on Cliff Fletchers first game of being GM, the Toronto sports headlines read "The Magic's Back!!!". I don't know about anyone else here, but I don't see how one win can all of a sudden qualify a team as being back into it. Their still 14th or something in the Conference, still under .500, and they still are miles out of being in the playoffs. The stuff that goes on up there is ridiculous. The Canadian media sucks, plain and simple. Their all just mad homers that sit around and say what they want to happen. I don't really care that they sit and curl the Wings coattails for them, because quite frankly, the Wings still haven't proven anything yet. We've seen this movie many times before: Wings do well in the regular season, only to lay a dinosaur egg in the playoffs. The part that really bothers me is the overrating of Canadian teams. With the exception of Ottawa (the notorious playoff chokers) and maybe Montreal, no Canadain team really has a shot at the Cup. Vancouver could if they ever found scoring, but their a one man show up there. Yet, the Canadian media portrays the situation as if all Canadian teams are vastly superior to American teams. It's not based off of anything, just what they'd want to see, which is the part that is really frustrating and stupid.

Don't be a fool. How could you forget about the PAIN TRAIN!!??

Boll would be a great pickup, and we wouldn't have to give up anything for him either. He'd be a huge upgrade over Kopecky. Plus, from a fight fan standpoint, it would be awesome to have the guy that's currently leading the NHL in fighting majors on the team.

There is almost a better chance as the Wings making a trade with the Avalanche or Ducks than making a trade with the Blues. Isn't going to happen.

Careful now... attendance talk is... Hehe, the Wings never sellout anymore. You could buy tickets 5 minutes before the game starts if you want to. Too bad this all seems to be hidden away under a black curtain in Mike Illitch's eyes, otherwise we'd see changes by now (IE lower ticket prices, fan givaways, autograph signings). But... whatever. This organization works like an old man: very set in it's ways, and does not adapt to change.

Cote is great. The guy has a rock for a head. He can really take a beating, and it doesn't even phase him. It'd be nice to have someone like that on the Wings. Of course, you know...

Lou, I'm surprised that you considered Downey a heavyweight at one point. He's not all that big of a guy, and he was never a "drop the gloves every game" type of player anyways. I always looked at him as a good middleweight, which I still do. I don't see why everyone is complaining about Downey. Yes, he should be beating guys like O'Donnell, but at least he is fighting. Do you want things to go back to the way they were last year, when the closest thing to fighting was guys like Franzen and Lebda pretending to act tough, only to run away with their tails between their legs when it came time to answer the bell? I sure as hell don't. While the Wings are still in the bottom 5 for FM's this year, things are better than last year at least. Hopefully guys like Downey continue to drop the gloves on a regular basis.

That was probably the most exiting Wings game I've seen in a long, long time, and that's not only because of the fights (though, that definitly played a big part ). The Wings really played well against the Ducks, and they totally took me by surprise. I half-expected that with no Zetterberg, being in Anaheim, and on the bad end of a back-to-back series, the Wings would have been blown out of the water tonight. But they played a solid game (Hasek was fantastic) and really proved themselves. ...and I must say: Dan Cleary is awesome! Gutsy move on his part to take on a much bigger guy in Chris Pronger, but he handled himself quite well. Great effort!

Oh wow, tell me about it. That fight was a joke. Laraque is almost like a middle man anymore. He's an incredably boring fighter, and it seems like he get's along with everyone he plays against. He shows no passion when he fights. The NHL needs more guys like McGratten: guys that like to fight, and do it for the sake of beating other guys up. Guys like Laraque are just boring, because it's like he has no interest fighting.

What????? NO!!!!! The obvious trade is that ever attractable offer of Meech and a 3rd round pick in a 3-way deal for Sidney Crosby and Ryan Getzlaf, where as each team get's one of those (Anaheim can have Meech, while Pittsburgh get's the pick) while the Wings get both Crosby and Getzlaf. Plus, maybe at the end of things, they could get Thornton for a lucrative package of Samuelsson and a 9th round pick. Who in their right minds would turn that down?
-
Kronwall for Sundin... NO. Derek "The Garbage King" Meech for Sundin... Yes!
-
LOL!
-
Like a lot: Downey Zetterberg Lidstrom Cleary Holmstrom Chelios Kronwall Like somewhat: Drake Draper Filppula Datsyuk Don't really care about: Osgood Maltby Hasek Rafalski Lilja Not a big fan of: Hudler Lebda Kopecky Hartigan Ellis Franzen Hate: Meech ..... ..... Samuelsson

As per TSN: This trade is minor, but considering what a dying breed trades have become anymore, I feel it's worth mentioning.
-
Wings fans are the most absolute boring people you'll ever meet. Don't worry, you shouldn't be bothered for cheering on your team.

Everybody in the Southeast sucks. That now takes the title of the worst division in hockey. Good for the Capitals, but they'd be best off waiting another year and getting a high draft pick? Why? Because we all seen what they did earlier this season. They don't have the pieces yet to contend for a Cup, and getting blown away in the 1st or 2nd round won't do anything for them. They need to focus more on developing players like Backstrom, not be buyers at the trade deadline and give away prospects. They'll be a very good team in the near future. Heck, somebody from the Southeast needs to step up and finally be the dominant team down there, because nobody seems to have taken control of that yet.
-
Yeah, he did work for them as well. I remember seeing a video clip of the Wings - Av's brawl with his annoying voice in the background. His dad was a great broadcaster... I don't how that talent managed to skip a generation in his case though.
-
Bringing someone like Brunnstrom in definitly makes more sense (and sounds more appealing) than bringing in a washed up injured loser like Peter Forsberg. Plus, if it get's Samuelsson off the 2nd line and off the team for good, it can only be a good thing, right?
-
I thought incentive laden contracts were only for players over 35. That's what I've been told.

Which is the exact reason why I'll be watching it. I always watch the Super Bowl, no matter which teams are in it. I'm sure most people are that way.
