I mentioned the Blues guy (John Kelly) earlier. His ridiculous "Thank you Thank you Thank you!" call after the Blues score is the most idiotic crap I've ever heard.
-
This is getting ridiculous. Already he's had two back injuries this year, and we're just barely past the half-way point of the season. I'm starting to think it's not worth giving him a high paying, long term contract. You may all blast me for saying that, but how can you give a guy 7+ million a season (I'm ballparking that that's going to be what he asks for) when he can't stay healthy? At this point, it might be better to get Hossa on this team long term, since he can stay healthy, and either try to sign Zetterberg to a cheap contract when the time comes, or let him walk. Or, trade him at next years deadline for something. Sorry if that comment bothers anyone on here, but it's coming closer and closer to the time to sign Zetterberg, and he's becoming a huge risk factor. I'm just looking at it from the standpoint that the risks outweigh the rewards, and if he can't stay healthy after the Wings sign him, that's a huge salary they'll have on the books that's not going anywhere. I honestly never thought I'd discuss the possibility of not bringing Zetterberg back, because he's my favorite player on the Wings right now behind Downey. But, if signing him to a big contract puts the team in a bad position, then it might be time to cut ties...

You act like Lilja is godzilla on skates or something. There are plenty of other big guys who don't suck ass like Lilja does. I don't know why everyone is all of a sudden riding his coattails, especially on this ridiculous PK stuff. He isn't that good on the PK. He makes terrible mistakes trying to clear the puck out of the zone, and has cost the Wings numerous times in that catagory. How is it I'm the only one who's seeing this? The fact that Lilja wants a raise is bad enough. He's making a 1 million right now, and doesn't deserve anything more than that. The only thing he does properly is block shots, which is not that hard of a quality to find in other players. I don't know how blocking shots all of a sudden warrants a raise in salary, unless the Wings want to pull a Jay McKee type signing with Lilja. There are guys in the minors that will be ready to play in the NHL soon. I don't see why the Wings should continue to waste a spot on Lilja, which prevents them from ever making it up here.

The fact that he's still around makes me happy. I never expect him to make the Wings roster, but it's always fun watching him play in the 3-4 Griffins games I get to watch on TV a season, and he makes training camp more interesting. And yes, from a fan perspective, I think Keefe is an entertaining player.

Haha, Giants win on a field goal off of the Favre turnover. As a Lions fan, I just cannot help but to laugh. The appeal of the Super Bowl is now gone, but now my least favorite team has no chance of winning.
-
Haha, I can't even tell if your being serious or not anymore. Let's leave it at that then.

Seriously... as a fight fan, do you really believe Lilja is that good of a fighter? I mean, Moen layed the beatdown pretty good on him in his first fight. Lilja took a swipe at his legs at the very end to not look as bad, but it didn't really work. The only fight Lilja ever looked good in was against Sharp last year, and that's because Sharp is a pansy. Besides that, Lilja is not at all a willing fighter. He only does it because because other guys make him. The only time he actually started a fight himself was against Phaneuf, and he was quickly overmatched. Last time he'll probably ever do that. Lilja is extremely frustrating, because he'll give you 5-10 solid games, then go 30 games while playing like crap. For as big as he is, he isn't very physical, and he's a terrible fighter for his size as well. He's the Wings own version of Dan McGillis or Jassen Cullimore, but even those guys are more physical than Lilja. If the Wings want a terrible hockey player using that spot, for whatever reason, then at least sign someone who is physical, fights on a regular basis, and can win fights. At least then they'd have a quality of something they'd actually bring to the team, which is something Lilja doesn't have. I was looking forward to Lilja being finally gone after this season, but now apparently they actually want to keep him...

Yeah, injuries were a part of it, but there were guys who had more points than him in GR that didn't get the callup. He musth have done something to impress. Besides: since when does NHL expierence really matter? Andy Delmore and Jason Woolley both had more NHL expierence than Lebda, yet Lebda beat both of those guys out. That stat is pretty obscured, since not every NHL player is better than any minor league player. There are plenty of guys in the minors that are better than Samuelsson, but you don't see any of them up here. I don't think the Wings will get rid of him, but it would sure make my day if he did. Lebda, as stated, is useless in my opinion.
-
Why the f*** do they want to sign Lilja? Are his constant blunders not enough of an indication that he sucks?
-
Why not Kyle Quincey? He's bigger, more physical, and plays an all around better game than Lebda does. He hasn't looked all that great in GR this year, but neither has anyone else. Last year, he really came into his own down in the minors, which is why he earned a callup during the playoffs.
-
Lebda is useless. I don't know how people can call him a "great signing" because he doesn't do anything. He's basically a smaller, less versatile version of Dandenault: he can skate, and that's about it. The Wings have enough defenseman like Lebda. Almost every defenseman on the Wings roster is offensive minded, besides Lilja. Lebda isn't even a good offensive defenseman in that regard, because he doesn't put up any points. Every player should have a role on the team, and I seriously can't think of what his role is. He doesn't score points, he's not physical, and he's not overly great defensivily either. No, he doesn't screw up as often as Lilja does, but he still isn't that great. I know I'll probably get blasted for those comments, but that's my opinion of him.

Daniels is probably one of the better broadcasters in the game. If you want to truely listen to some terrible homer broadcasting, then watch a Blues broadcast. John Kelly is one of the worst broadcasters ever. His dad was great, but apparently the genes didn't pass over to him. ...and as far as the stats go, they do that in every sport. George Blaha does the exact same thing during Pistons broadcasts, and pretty much every NFL broadcaster brings up some meaningless stat as well. They all do that, because it's part of their job.
-
Haha, I'll never forget that. That lame ass load of crap he came up with has become some of the best comic relief to date.
-
That's because they won't let him. Both of them are either so concerned with their reputations as big monster tough guys, or they both simpily don't like punching like in regular fight, that they just wrestle him to the ground. Laraque especially. That's why I've never been a big Laraque fan. He's one of the most boring fighters I've ever seen. He wins all the time, and dare I say is the league champion, but that's only because he grabs guys and wrestles him down. I can't remember the last time he was in actual entertaining fight, with actual punches thrown.
-
Are you personally going out of your way to blast the guy just so we're all wrong about the Bertuzzi trade?
-
The Wings pathetic marketing staff needs to get it together sometime and start marketing Zetterberg more to the fans. If you ask me, he's one of the Top 5 players in the league, maybe even top 3, but the Wings marketing barely acknowledges his existance. Maybe instead of this Calgary Flames ripoff "Fire on Ice" crap, they could try doing more stuff aimed around the team's star players. If the Wings did a better job marketing their players, attendance would rise... in my opinion anyways.

Haha, yeah right. Boulton used to be a bad ass in his Buffalo days, but being under Bob Hartley's restraining order really made him a whimp. He's gotten a little better this season, but the Boulton of old would challange guys without even thinking. Now, he doesn't seem as into it. As I stated, I souly blame Bob Hartley for this. He ruined Boulton, and also ruined Andy Sutton while he was at it (fighting wise anyways). It was sickening to see the 2006-2007 Atlanta Thrashers have all these tough guys on it, yet none of them we're allowed to fight. Wasting resources if you ask me. But... when it comes right down to it... Boulton would still probably be an upgrade over Kopecky.

Haha, great interview.
-
The only good thing about it is it got rid of Williams. The tradeback, Calder, did absolutely nothing when it counted. Of course, it's hard to imagine that Williams is even worth anything anyways... so what the Wings did get in return was about as even as it could possibly get.

Erskine's great. Very entertaining fighter when he get's going. He had a great bout with Cam Janssen last year if you've seen it.
-
Mad Max is a great player when he get's going, but this season he hasn't done anything very noteworthy at all, except not score. I've always liked his talent, so maybe a change of scenery would do him good. Buffalo management has apparently shopped him around at various points during the season.
-
Haha, well then, in that case he's definitly not going to like it here.

Edmonton lost again today 7-2 to Carolina. Pretty disappointing southeast trip for them so far.

The Sabres were pulling an anchor up until this game. For their sake, maybe this could get them going.
