    New Scoring Leader

Let's face it guys: Zetterberg is not going to win the scoring title. Stop being homers and live with that fact. With guys like Vinny and Crosby be riding behind him, their bound to take the lead and hold it, especially considering Tampa and Pittsburgh (Tampa especially) play more of an offensive style of hockey. Neither team has a decent goaltender, so they have to score goals to win. I love Zetterberg, but he's playing on a more strict defensive team, and there are way too many other players in the league that are just as good or better. It's a hard competition for him. But... I firmly believe Zetterberg will win the Selke Trophy. And he should, because no player in the league is as good a two-way threat as he is.
  2. Filppula, Franzen, Kindl, and a 2nd round pick for Carter. It may seem like a lot, but Jeff Carter is what this team desperately needs: a big, physical player with scoring potential. He's a perfect example of an up-and-coming power forward. The Wings need a player like him, and he'd be someone that I wouldn't mind giving up a lot for. Here's hoping something get's worked out with the Wings and Flyers. He'd be a great fit here.

    Best Damn Sports Show Period

Hehe. Looking at my records, I'm seeing she was also drafted by the Wings! Can you believe it? The Wings drafted a woman! Well, that's not really all that big of a deal. I mean, they did sign Samulesson and Lilja to contracts, and there both girls too... hehe....

    2007 Baseball Season

Hopefully he doesn't become the Robert Lang or Jason Williams of baseball. No, KC didn't pick his option up. Riske is a free agent.

    Jiri Hudler

It's good to finally get some secondary scoring. He's been a lot better than what I expected out of him this year. Hopefully he keeps it up, so we have a 2nd line for once. Hehe.

    Tomas Fleischmann

That's because Lang is no longer with the Wings, while Fleischmann is still with the Capitals. Though I don't really get what people are getting at with constantly bringing up this subject. Fleischmann can barely crack their depleted, non-playoff roster. What makes anyone think he could make the Wings roster? Exactly. Josh Langfeld could be a 30 goal scorer on that team. Any of Fleischmann's points will come attritbuted the fact that (a. He'll be getting a lot PP time, among other things and (b. They have Ovechkin. Fleischmann will probably look average on any other team. Heck, he already looks average now, even with all those points I just made. As I said: the only thing I regret giving up in that trade was the 1st round draft pick. Lang was great here in his 1st season, and was really helpful in the Nashville series back in '04.

Thank you. Hasek's play has been terrible all season. The only reason he has a winning record is because of the steller defense playing in front of him. You all seen that last night, when the defense decided to pack it in after the 1st period, Hasek was eaten alive. He's 42 years old. He's old, injury prone, and in my opinion, has more than a few screws loose. He's a very weird guy, and I don't think he can handle a heavy workload anymore. In fact, I don't think he can handle playing at all any more, either. ...and before I get flamed out by everyone, let's get something straight here: I'm impartial to both goalies. I have no emotional connection to either of them, so don't try to accuse me of being a "sour Osgood fan" (I'm looking directly at you, Puckloo39). I don't really care which one does better, as long as one of them is getting the job done. And right now, Hasek isn't getting the job done. On the nights he hasn't just plain sucked, he's been mediocre, at best. That's not going to cut it. Like I said: the only reason Hasek's record is above .500 is because of the Wings great defense. On average, Hasek has faced about 12-15 shots this season, and yet he manages to at least give up 1-2 goals a game. So, that means he's making about 10-12 saves a agme. Those are terrible numbers for him. He can do a lot better than that, at least he used to. I don't know if he has it in him now. If Hasek steps it up and actually shows me something this year, than I'll be the first to come out publicly and eat crow with butter and garlic sauce on the side. But, that hasn't happened yet at all. He has to actually play a good game: not rely souly on the defense in front of him, and still give up 2 goals a game on only 10 shots. That isn't going to work for me. It really doesn't matter to me which goalie takes the reins as #1. If Hasek steps it up, great. If Osgood wins the job instead, that's fine by me. It's whoever get's the job done is what counts.

    LOL Bryan McCabe

I can't believe he's still in the NHL. This sort of stuff is what is being taught in Peewee hockey: Don't pass with your head down. How damn stupid is he anyways? If he doesn't know the simple fundamentals of the game, than what is he doing playing in a league like the NHL? At best, McCabe is a #4-6 defenseman. He's fine offensivily and on the PP, and if he was being paid a respectable amount of money, he'd be fine. But... he's not. When you're being paid 7 million a season, you better be one of the best damn defenseman in the league. Heck, you better win the Norris Trophy, be a finalist, or at least be considered for it if you're making that much money. He's extremely overpaid. I wouldn't mind him so much if he had a normal contract, but he doesn't. He needs to take a paycut.

Too Early to Get Pumped for Saturday?

Two reasons: Robert Lang and Jason Williams. Williams was ******* terrible when he played here. He was absolutley terrible. He was far and away the worst player on this team. That said, the dumbass thought he was actually playing good, and felt he was being mistreated by Babcock. So, he get's traded, and look at him now. He has all this motivation to prove Detroit wrong because he felt he was screwed by the organization, when really, he was being benched and ulitimately ended up being traded because he was playing bad. Same thing goes for Lang. Lang was actually great in his 1st season here, right when we picked him up from Washington. He was still pretty good the 2nd season. But in the 3rd, he decided to be a lazy s***head, and, like Williams, felt he was getting screwed by guys like Babcock. When, in reality, it wasn't that at all. Lang deserved to be benched because he was playing badly. I don't know what it is with professional atheletes and their inability to process that. It's either their ego's, or just plain stupidity. I don't know, but from my point of view, you shouldn't be rewareded for playing bad. Look at how both of them play when their not playing against Detroit, though. Their both very average hockey players. Lang is over the hill, and Williams shouldn't be in the NHL to begin with. Kane and Toews are the ones doing all the heavy lifting on that team, except on nights when Detroit is involved. Then Lang and Williams all of sudden catch lighting in a bottle and play good. It's really frustrating. Neither of them deserved to play on the Wings anymore. I give Lang full credit for his help in the '04 playoffs against Nashville, but that shouldn't mean I should sit around and ride his coattails for the rest of his playing career. He was slowing down, and it was time for him to go. I don't know why some of us are looked at as bad people because of that. ...and Williams? He never deserved to play on this team to begin with. I can't even begin to express my hatred (and yes, I will use that boldest of words) for Williams. He is a terrible hockey player that doesn't belong in this league. I'm really sick of losing to Chicago. I deleted my last rant above, but this one I'm keeping. The Wings better get their s*** together, because Chicago is not as good as we're making them look.

    Disturbing Trend

It's not the players: it's the refs inability to determine whether or not it's an actual penalty. They just look and say "Stick on player! It must be a penalty!", even if it is nothing more than a small tap. Bettman has got these guys so screwed up, it's ridiculous. I can assure that the reason that pretty much every ref in the league acts like they have a stick jammed up their ass is because Bettman has got them all under microscopes to call numerous penalty's. In his mind, more PP's means more scoring, but in all honesty that just shows how much Bettman doesn't know about the game of hockey. He should just take the high road already and slump back to the NBA. The new NHL, so to speak, really sucks. The whole aim of the new game was to make it faster by eliminating clutching and grabbing. While they are a fine enough job of that, keep in mind that the game has almost no flow at times, because they call so many penalties. It's defeating the purpose.

I would take Quincey over Lebda any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. The Wings have enough small defenseman. It's time they got some size and grit back there, which Quincey brings.

Bertuzzi's concussion worse than initially suspected

Because he's an *******. Boo hoo hoo. Poor Todd Bertuzzi is injured. Maybe he shouldn't have signed such a ridiculous contract, and considered his future and overall benefit by staying here instead. He isn't worth the money he signed, and it's becoming extremely apparent now. I'm very bitter that he left. He made all those comments about wanting to "retire" in Detroit, and then he just leaves like that? And to Anaheim no less. Screw him.

    11/13 GDT: Blues 3, Red Wings 2

Nice period out there boys! Way to roll over and die in such quick fashon! Well... I'm done with this game. Sorry, but I cannot continue to watch the Wings be dominated in virtually every catagory out there tonight. They suck. It's just one of those nights I guess, but there is no point in watching it anymore. Luckily for the Blues that the Wings are the smallest, lightest, and softest team in the league that they don't have to worry about answering to any tough guys. So... pound away! One last thing: what the f*** is wrong with Brian Rafalski tonight? We're paying this guy 6 million a year, and he looks absolutley terrible out there. Whether it's his small size being dominated by the Blues bigger players or what, he needs to be benched. He looks like a smaller version of Jiri Slegr tonight. I don't expect a comeback at all tonight. This team doesn't look inspired at all. They look tired, weak, and are playing with no passion at all. So be it I guess. Time to just move on to Saturday...

    Downey on Waivers

You need to stop being so confident in Lilja. Every game this year you predict him to be in a fight... and... well... he hasn't even came close to doing that.

Don't remind me. The Wings are playing like total wimps out there, although I can't say I'm too surprised. It took a while, but this teams true colors are finally being shown...

    11/13 GDT: Blues 3, Red Wings 2

Babcock is an idiot for not dressing Downey tonight. He knows very well the amount of fighters that the Blues have on their roster, and if the Wings keep scoring, this game is going to get out of hand really fast. Jackman is already out of control, and it's only 2-0. I'm telling you... the Wings need to address this need now. Right after Cleary scored his goal, 2-3 different guys came over and started landing blows on him, and what does everyone else do? They stand around and watch. Ridiculous. That's a perfect way to lose a guy to injury by letting him get beat on like that. I don't like this teams views of not playing at least one fighter, especially in a game like this. I hope for their sake this doesn't get ridiculously out of hand, because they'll all be carried off on stretchers if it does. Nobody on this team can fight, especially against someone like Jackman or Mayers. No, you're not. I'd love to have Jackman playing on the Wings. I can't stand him right now, but that's because he's a frustrating player to play against, and he plays for St. Louis. I'd love him if he played here though. He'd bring that physical force that the Wings don't even have a sniff of on their current blueline.
