About damn time somebody picked up on this. Philly has the worst sports fans in the country, which could explain why they haven't won a championship in the last 20 or so years. Those people are insane. It's been said not to bring your wife and kids to a Flyers game, because they might end up raped and killed by some crazy drunk fan. I don't know what's in the water in that city, but something is wrong with those people. Whether it was growing up in the days of the "Broad Street Bullies" or what, those people are ridiculous.

Yep, he's the guy. You can see what a lasting impression he made on me.

Does this mean the 2-year saga of constantly hearing about him will end finally? As far as this situation is concerned, it's great he won't be playing for the Wings now. I would have hated for Holland to invest 4.5 - 5 million in a broken down old shell of a once great hockey player. I still have a certain disliking for Forsberg, but it's too bad he went out in such a way. A great hockey player like him should leave on his own terms, not because he has to. Good luck Peter.

New Jersey really blows this year. Guess that's what happens when Lou Lamb continues to screw and stab people in the back on numerous occasions, while also failing to make his team any better after losing two huge core players in Rafalski and Gomez.

I don't see that as the holding point. The Wings are the smallest team in the league. If they were interested in 5'8 Jiri Hudler during his draft year, I think they'd also be interested in the Donati's if they didn't have problems. Something must be wrong with both of them. To put up those kind of points and not even get a look from an NHL team is pretty bad. Usually it does come down to the size factor (any WHL buff's who remember Todd Robinson will know that's why he never made it), but the new NHL has become a more welcoming place for small players. Those two certainly sound like an interesting option, but there must be some underlying factor that is scaring teams off. And I doubt it's size either, since there are even smaller players currently playing in the NHL right now (Hudler and Brian Gionta are two great examples).

10? Boo. I started the week off so good too. I went 5 for 6 on Friday, but went crumbling down from there. I swear, I couldn't buy a win in this game. Another tough weekend to put in the books. Congrats to the 3 winners.

I have a better idea. Let's bring Marc Rodgers out of retirement and give him Samulesson's spot. His goal scoring prowess, along with his huge 5'9 frame, will be a big boost for the Wings. Kudos the first person to actually know who I'm talking about.
-
What are you talking about? How could you say something so ridiculous? The obvious choice's would be Miami or Chattanooga. That's where the real fans are.

The scouting reports from TSN are actually from the Sports Forecaster, not TSN themselves. They just post the information on the player profile pages to give a general idea about the player. I don't see what the big deal is. Just because Howard is touted by the Wings as a #1 goalie doesn't mean the rest of the league feels the same way. He has to actually prove himself, you know.

Thank you. Finally, someone who understands the meaning of a joke here. I can't believe the amount of people here that are offended by what Schneider says. Is it really that big of a deal what everyone thinks of the Wings? Does everybody have to like this team because we do? I'm honestly starting to think that's some people's line of thinking around here. He was more than likely joking anyways. He's got a good sense of humor, and all he did was tell a joke at that moment. Stop trying to paint him as a bad guy, because he's not at all. Let it go. Schneider hasn't done anything wrong, so stop trying to make it look like he has.

I don't think Toronto has a stadium to do it in, though. Rogers Stadium does have a retractable roof, but I think they keep it closed in the winter. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I've heard.

There are actually a few teams that still play the Gary Glitter "Hey" song. I believe Dallas, Nashville, Los Angeles, Colorado, and the NY Islanders still play the original version as their goal song. San Jose and Columbus play the organ version as their goal song, while Montreal plays it after they win. I always liked the song myself. I know the guy who does it has his problems, but there's no denying that it is a great hockey song, and sports song in general. Last year it really fell away in popularity, but I noticed this year a lot of teams have started playing it again. Colorado and San Jose both stopped playing it last year, but brought it back this year. I also noticed it being played more at some NFL football games now too. Whether that's a fan vote or not, it is making somewhat of a comeback. One of my personal favorites is Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation. I wish the Wings would play that as their goal song, because for some reason, it just fits perfectly as a goal song.

Eww. Why do you have Kubina on your Eastern Conference team? He's downright terrible. It's too bad that the majority of teams in the east suck, so it's hard to choose who'd go there in his place though. The natural choice would be, for me, Jay Bouwmeester on Florida, but he hasn't looked very good this season. A lot of high profile names haven't, which is surprising.

Lalime's Marvin the Martian mask is one of my favorites. He always impliments that well with the logo of whatever team he's playing with.

Ilya Kovalchuk scores 3 goals in the 3rd period tonight..

Shows what a standup job Don Waddell has done at GM. I have to ask: when are teams going to stop overpaying Bobby Holik by such ridiculous accounts? The guy has been a terrible hockey player for years, and he's barely capable of centering a 4th line. Yet, everywhere he goes, he get's paid like a 1st or 2nd line player, when he clearly isn't. I figured once the salary cap was implemented and he was bought out by the NY Rangers he'd go extinct in the NHL, but there are still teams who choose to pull this guy's weight around for some reason. I hpe that's a good old dose of sarcasm, because Kozlov has been terrible this season. In fact, basically everyone on Atlanta not named Kovalchuk has been terrible. Something that really mystifies me about that team: they carry at least 2-3 legitimate heavyweight fighters, yet none of them fight anymore. Eric Boulton in particular is who I'm thinking of. Why have these guys if you're not going to let them fight? It doesn't make any sense. Atlanta really is a messed up team this year. Big whoop: they beat Tampa Bay tonight, who is barely a playoff team themselves. They've still got major underachievers (Hossa, Lehtonen just to name a few), and have a very low talent level overall. -
Grand Valley State 85, Michigan State 82

This is nothing of the magnitude that UM vs. App. State was in football. Although, this seems to be a common time for huge upsets in every sport. Even in pre-season games, MSU is still miles and away better than secondary schools like Grand Valley State. I dont know what the ridiculous arguements are about in here, though. I guess because I'm not a fan of either UM or MSU, I don't really understand. -
Great channel. It's about time these American company's smartened up and added it to their listings.

The Wings last bad season was in the year 1990. I was 6 years old at the time, and I remember many occasions where my father, who is a very "passionate" fan was fuming at many points over that season. I watched some games, but as a young kid I really don't know all that much yet about it.
-
You know, I really agree with you. The lack of fighters is the biggest issue with me, but some other factors play into it. Datsyuk and Zetterberg, especially Zetterberg, are really entertaining to watch. After that, I'd say the next most entertaining player is Aaron Downey, who I wish would get more games in. The rest of the team is pretty boring though, especially some of the useless players in the lineup like Kopecky. Eh... I don't know. The Wings are great team, and I'll take whatever works. But sometimes I do wish some Wings games were on the more entertaining side. Their starting to take on that New Jersey style of hockey. While it isn't playing a trap, it's still not all that entertaining. If the Wings had more fighters, you'd see my interest spark up a lot more. For the most part, I watch every Wings game, but if a good rivalry matchup presents itself, I may take that instead.

On a serious note, I actually thought he did good against Sharp. He was brutal against Moen, but that was the famous fight that gave him the "Pain Train" nickname.
-
You're probably thinking of Oleg Tverdovsky or Janne Niinimaa.
-
That's the outside of the box thinking that can be dangerous here, you know. *cough* I know I don't often give the Wings enough credit, so it's time I do. They've played some great hockey in this last stretch. Zetterberg is an amazing hockey player that can easily contend for the scoring title, Selke Trophy, and Hart Trophy. Datsyuk and Holmstrom, Holmstrom especially, have been on fire during this stretch. Filppula and Hudler look like their finally ready to break through. Nice to see, because we need their production. And, let's not forget: Samulesson is playing good (there I said it, ok?). Cleary, Draper, and Maltby all do their jobs in a great way. Ellis is making strides, and should be in the lineup. Downey and Drake are awesome, for obvious reasons. Franzen, if he ever get's healthy, will make good strides also and will add size and scoring up front. The checking lines on this team are really effective, with the exception of Kopecky, and it's a great strong point on this team. Lidstrom is starting to round into form after a slow start. His play is just unreal sometimes, as he can make other players look silly with how he shuts them down. Rafalski is looking like one of the best signing in free agency. I can't say enough good things about this guy. He's putting up points, he's solid defensivily, he's playing a good physical game despite his size. If he ever got into a fight... hehehe. What's to stop Chris Chelios from winning the Norris Trophy? On a serious note, his play has been excellent on many levels this season. I really like Chelios, and it would be cool to see him play until he's 50. He hasn't slown down a bit. Kronwall was impressing me, until once again he's injured. Hopefully he's not out for too long, because he needs to finally start showing something. He's getting paid a good 3 million a season now, so he needs to stay healthy and live up to that. Lilja is playing good (I'm on fire tonight with these compliments, eh? ). He is probably the only one who brings physical play to the blueline, so if he keeps it up and plays a simple game, I'm fine with him in the lineup. He just needs to start fighting again. Lebda... eh, nothing impressive from him, but nothing bad either. He's been ok. Our goaltending tandem is great, for the most part. Not to get too ahead of myself here, but it honestly wouldn't bother me if the Wings kept Ozzie in even after Hasek get's back. I'm sorry, but Hasek's play this season was nothing to write home about. On the other hand, Osgood hasn't lost a game yet, and is stealing some saves for us. Overall, if the Wings keep it up, this is making it's way for a great season. Hopefully this get's the fans back in the seats at the Joe, and this talk of attendance finally comes to an end.

I don't like the Sharks either, but I still don't see why it's a bad signing. They got him for dirt cheap (don't know the exact figures, but I've heard on the radio it's for league minimum), and he's not going to be anything more than a #7 defenseman anyways. It isn't a terrible signing like some think.
