Coyotes place David Aebischer on waivers

Aebischer is most likely heading back to Europe. It's a shame too, since he's a good guy. Really, if you ask me, I don't think he's all that bad of a goalie either. The LA Kings would be very smart to pick him up, since he's a much better goaltender then Aubin or LaBarbera (or Cloutier if they have the insane idea to bring him up again). I'd like to see them pick him up, since he'd be a good fit on that team.

    Enforcer? For the Wings?

Wow. Nice fight. I keep wishing Atlanta's freefall continues. If it does, Kovalchuk might be available.
  3. Great stuff! That was just a fight waiting to happen just by hearing some of the name mentioned in there. Myhers, Moen, Baines, Roarke, Morgan, Mike Brown; those are some great fighters on that list! What's ironic was the goalie fight between Ward and Leighton, considering their both teammates now on the Carolina Hurricanes. It's always interesting when stuff like that happens. That was a great video. Stuff like that is a rare gem in hockey anymore.

    Kings Looking to Deal

That doesn't mean he would be incapable of the occasional blunder. He has already made one huge error mark in his short term as GM: giving Cloutier the 2-year contract extension before he even played a game with the Kings. Heck, why did he even aquire Cloutier in the first place? He's a terrible goalie. But, I'm just thinking positivily. I would love for a guy like Brown to play on the Wings, since he's exactly the kind of player that we need (a big, physical, scoring winger). I really don't think Lombardi is that stupid, because he is a good GM. He basically got Jack Johnson for nothing. That's more like it. We all need to be on the same page, you know.

    Kings Looking to Deal

Well, they do want more defenseman... I see no reason why it couldn't. As I said Lou, you can never underestimate the stupidity of the average NHL GM. Think of it as a smaller version of the Joe Thornton trade.

That's so funny, and yet, it's also true!

    Blackhawk Homegames Televised

Good for them. One step closer to getting the 'Hawks back on the map again.
  8. He's insane if he thinks he's worth a 3 year deal at almost 5 million a year. He hasn't been worth those numbers for almost 6 years now. The whole Forsberg saga is getting ridiculous, dating all the way back to the Flyers collapse last season. I'm so sick of hearing about him. Either sign with a team already (that being anybody but the Wings), or retire. Anything to put an end to the Forsberg media chapter. I certainly hope Holland would be smart enough not to meet those demands. In my honest opinion, we don't need Floppa, or his injury baggage.

    2007 Baseball Season

Wow, did Cleveland ever roll over and die in that series. Should be an interesting World Series. I plan on watching this one, as I always do, but I would have actually preferred Cleveland in. Just to stick it to the media bastards who think a World Series isn't watchable if the Yankees or BoSox aren't in it. Oh, and before I forget: Go Rockies

    Cleary, Wings to talk extension

1.2 - 1.5 sounds good to me. Nothing more though. I love Cleary, but he shouldn't be making anything more then that. He's not a big time goal scorer, plus we need all the cap room we can get to re-sign Z and Lidstrom in a few years and still keep the team competetive (don't want to turn into someone like Tampa, with 3 or 4 good players, and the rest of the team sucks). Hopefully they get a deal done soon.

    The Fight Thread

I know! I think they said around 40% or something over last year, which is great. There are a lot of young fighters coming into the game now. Guys like Jared Boll, Daniel Carcillo, David Clarkson, Milan Lucic, D.J. King, and David Koci are going to be very exiting guys to watch in the future. Plus, you got a good influx of other fighters still in the league, like McGratten, Orr, Boogaard, Ivanans, Brashear, Parros, Shawn Thornton, and a whole bunch of others. It's a great year to be a fight fan. I'm looking forward to even more.

    Darcy Tucker out indefinitely

I hate Tucker a lot. He's always running his mouth, and last year in a game against Ottawa he wanted to actually fight someone, so he chose to fight Patrick Eaves, who is smaller then he is and never fights people. He wasn't man enough to stand up to someone like Neil or McGratten. Tucker is a good hockey player, but his mouth and stupidity, coupled also with his recent string of injuries, will shadow that aspect out.

    Where is Mickey Redmond?

Actually, Mickey has been staying home on those west-coast road trips longer then a year. He does occasionally travel with the team, but I think he's stayed home for far away games, for the most part, since before the lockout. Mickey does the occasional road game during the season if it's in a close by city. Usually it's Chicago, but he sometimes does Columbus, St. Louis, and Pittsburgh also. During the playoffs, Mickey does do all the road games that FSN broadcasts. It's one of the reasons why I like watching home games better on TV. Mickey adds an extra source of entertainment in the game. He's really a great broadcaster.

    Grigorenko recalled from Grand Rapids

Wow. Are you seriously comparing Grigorenko to Crosby and Zetterberg? The Wings don't even want Grigorenko up right now, by all their public indications. The only reason they did call him up is because he says he hates the AHL and will go back to Russia for good if he isn't called up. He hasn't proven any of his talent at this point.

    Grigorenko recalled from Grand Rapids

If he's honestly that committed, then why is he not showing it in his play? I'm not asking him to be Sergei Fedorov part two. But, being in shape, a little effort, and some half-way decent play would be nice. He's not getting called up because he's played good. Heck, Ken Holland basically said he's not at all impressed with Grigorenko so far. The only reason he's getting called up is because he's throwing a little fit about playing in the AHL, which to me is stupid, considering that the average NHL player spends at least 2-3 full seasons in the AHL before they become a regular in the NHL. Grigorenko can't even find it upon himself to play more the 5 games. If he helps our 2nd line problems, then fine, keep him up here. But right now he's not proving that he deserves to be on this team at all.

    Kings Looking to Deal

Hudler and a 2nd pick for Dustin Brown. Hey, I am aware of how unrealistic that trade seems, but you can never underestimate the stupidity of NHL GM's. While Lombardi did get Jack Johnson for chump change, he also gave Dan Cloutier a two-year contract extension before he even played a single game with the Kings. Even the smartest people do dumb things. I highly doubt it would happen, but I can always hope.

    Grigorenko recalled from Grand Rapids

Not in the least bit does he deserve to be on this team. He's such a piece of s***. Seriously. There are guys who spend years in the AHL refining their game before they even play an NHL game (Ellis for example), and they go through with it. Yet, Grigorenko can't find it upon himself to lower his massive ego and play anything more then 5 productionless games in the AHL. It's bulls***. In any circumstance, guys like Downey or Ellis better not be bumped aside for a lazy slug like Grigorenko. We need the working-class mentality on this team that guys like Downey and Ellis bring, not a lazy Yashin-esque personality that doesn't want to work at all. Ugh. I am utterly disappointed with this news. Grigorenko is getting a spot by default, which is f***ing ridiculous in my opinion, considering how hard some guys work to make it.

Eh, I'm happy with 12. Only two off the top score.

Don't direct your tirade at me. It was clearly just a joke. There are plenty other people around here who search the beaches with metal detectors to find a new whipping boy. Save the speech for them.

Best and worst Wings decisions in the last 10 years.

Probably more then Kopecky is doing. I'm of course joking on that. I can't say with full confidence that Fleischmann would help this team at all. If he can't crack the Capitals talent depleted lineup... The reason I didn't like the Lang trade is because we gave up a 1st round pick in the process, whom Washington drafted defenseman Jeff Schultz with. I know Schultz hasn't played many NHL games yet, but I would love to have a player like him on the Wings. He's a 6'6 defenseman, yet skates good and has offensive ability to combine with his size. Of course, who knows if the Wings would have even picked Schultz. The chances might have been good, though, because he is a defenseman, and we all know the tendancies the Wings have of drafting defenseman in the 1st round.

    Jonathan Toews

I always thought Haynesbot was their radio broadcaster. Unless their TV broadcaster, who's also a robot programmed to be an extreme homer, is currently undergoing repairs.

    Matty Ellis. Regular or not?

He deserves a spot. It's always good to see guys who have that working-class mentality get a spot here, since we need more players like him. Ellis is proving he deserves to stay on this team. He kinda was going to anyways (he couldn't clear waivers) but his hard work and good play is making it all the more easier for management to keep him. The Wings problem is the 2nd line, but I know Holland will never get rid of any of those 3. So we can pretty much expect to see Downey being bid farewell by next week for Grigorenko. It's a sad shame in my opinion, but I don't want to derail the main point of this discussion, which is Ellis.
