lol Grigorenko better have his plane tickets booked in advance. Babcock isn't, and hopefully won't, put up with the lazy s*** that he's shown so far.
-
I guess if Mark Hartigan and Mark Cullen get called up, they'll both be wearing #13, since that's what they wore in training camp. We'll have 3 13's now!

Live trilobites will be discovered before the Wings move east. The Wings are good for business in the case of these no-market teams like Nashville or Phoenix, who either don't actually have their own fans or their own fans are too pissed off at management to attend games. The Wings fans are the ones who bring in revenue. Otherwise, the historic Red Wings and Predators rivalry, which dates all the way back to 2004, would end and the Preds would be in a new city. And we all know that would just ruin the NHL, wouldn't it?

If it is true that Yzerman is your favorite, then why are you putting him down so much? How can you say that he's barely even a good player? That's ridiculous. The only reason Yzerman never won a scoring title is because he played during an era which featured Gretzky and Lemieux. Yzerman was still one of the best players in the league during that time. I don't think he's your favorite player at all. Hell, I don't even think you are a Wings fan. Your plain stupidity is on par with what St. Louis Blues fan like to spout off about whenever they come here, so why don't you go post on their forums instead? I'm sure you'll get plenty of people to agree with you.

Why is Ellis playing again? Ridiculous. Downey is going to be sent down at the end of the month anyways. At least play him a little bit before then, for mine and others entertainment sake.
-
Hopefully Kopecky get's sent down to GR sometime soon. He is absolutley useless. If the Wings wanted to keep a 6'3 forward who has no scoring ability and did not play physical at all, they might as well have just re-signed Josh Langfeld. Grigorenko probably will get called up, regardless of his terrible play in GR. Hopefully Downey comes out and really proves himself, so it's at the expense of someone else (again, perferrably Kopecky). I cannot begin to comprehend how mad I'll be if they send Downey to GR and keep one of these useless scrubs up his place. Ellis may work hard, but he doesn't do anything else, and his hard work hasn't been notable to me at all in for what little he played. And Kopecky just plain sucks. Those two aren't needed in the lineup at all, especially since they don't do anything in the little ice time they get. With Downey, you can at least send him out to go after someone if liberties are taken on Zetterberg or someone else. But, there's no point in ranting over it. It's the inevitable that Downey will be sent down by the end of this month. Hopefully he at least get's some games in before that.

Samulesson straight up for Feds is fine. Or Kopecky straight up for Feds would also be good. But that'll obviously never happen. It's the fact that we'd have to give up good prospects for a 37 year old who couldn't find motivation even if it kicked him in the ass is what makes it a bad deal. I wouldn't mind giving up our dead weight players for Feds, but not anybody that has a good future.

Don't bother. Yzer19 is really Jamie, who was an Yzerman troll that was banned here about 2 years ago. She goes around to different Red Wings forums and posts her hate messages about Yzerman. She went under the names Alexei and Spuds at the MLive forums, and was the one who posted the famous "Yzerman to St. Louis" rumor on the day of the Wings home opener in 2005 at MLive. She's been going around to various forums spreading hate about Yzerman. I highly doubt she is in any way a Wings fan at all, since it's pretty strange that someone would hate the guy that basically turned this franchise around. (I also referred to her as a girl, since that's what most people think. The true identity is unknown though, so it could be a guy also)

Really? What team is Forsberg playing for? Oh, wait... he's not.
-
Ozzie sucks. (just kidding Reem!) As for the article: no way that article was written by Rob Parker. It was actually positive, and there was no Lions bashing in it. Plus, Parker is too Busche league to use a computer and type something out in an article form. He'd much rather prefer to use cave drawings to describe his feelings non-verbally.
-
Then all those clutch tendencies will kick in.
-
Wow, who would have thought? Drake is quickly becoming my new favorite Red Wing... for obvious reasons, of course.
-
He's had damn well enough time to "find his groove". He's had all of training camp and pre-season, and he hasn't done anything more then look like a total putz in all of it. The fact that Grigorenko was getting shown up by the likes of Mark Hartigan is a cause for concern. If Grigorenko doesn't get his s*** together soon and start working hard, he can go right on back to Russia and stay there. He's been a huge disappointment so far.
-
Your Yzerman bashing is strangely similar to a certain Jamie that used to post here. I wonder if there is any truth to these comparisons...

That's fine by me. Draper is one of the charecter guys on the Wings right now. He's the best faceoff man in the league (next to Yanic Perrault), and his defensive ability and speed are great assets to have. Although he has absolutley no hands at all, his job isn't to score goals, so that's not an issue. Glad to see the Wings getting ready to lock him up. He's still a good player.
-
No. Lang hasn't proven anything that he deserves to be back on this team. Just because he scored against in two meaningless regular season games in October doesn't mean I want him back. He hasn't done s*** in the other two games against Minnesota and San Jose, and he probably won't do s*** in any other game this season not involving the Wings. Good comparison. Harrington may have ripped through the Lions defense (which isn't that hard of a feat to accomplish), but the Dolphins were miles out of the playoffs last season. Harrington hasn't been any better for the Falcons this season, who continue to underachieve in every form possible. Just because said player does well against his former team doesn't mean I will ever want him back. Now, if Lang rips the league apart and wins the Hart Trophy this year, then yes, I probably would want him back. But no way in a million years will that ever happen. Over half of his goals this season will probably come against the Wings, because that'll be his only motivation. To prove the Wings wrong. In contrast, I'm happy as a clam that Lang is gone. Sure, we don't get to do the "Lang is lazy and he sucks" thing anymore, but it's nice not having an albatross clog up the 2nd line center spot.

I meant to say Karmonos, not Rutherford. Yes, it is that bad. I don't know why it is, but those two have a long history with each other. As long as either one of them owns their respective teams, you will never see a trade between the Wings and Hurricanes.
-
It's not even worth making trade proposels with the Hurricanes. I don't know why people even do it, to be honest. The hate between Illitch and Rutherford has been apparent since the beginning of time. Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but I just don't think it's worth the time thinking of trade proposels with Carolina. You'll see the Wings and Bruins make a trade before the Wings and Hurricanes make one (Illitch and Jeremy Jacobs, owner of the Bruins, also don't get along, which is why I made that comparison).

Kronwall needs to be paired with another solid defenseman. Lilja is obviously not a solid defenseman, which explains some of his bad play last night. I was absolutley fuming when I saw that pairing to start the game. Those two should never under any circumstance being playing on the same pairing. Babcock really confuses me sometimes. He is a good coach in every aspect except the way he puts lines together. Zetterberg and Datsyuk should never even be considered to be broken up. Kronwall and Lilja should never be on the same defensive pairing. And why, oh why is Kopecky still in the lineup? He has been one of the worst players on the Wings, and the most useless, since the season started. Bench him for a few games so he maybe steps it up or something. The ideal situation would be to give Downey the spot full-time, and let Ellis and Kopecky battle it out for the final spot, but I know that will never happen in a million years. I'm not ragging on Babcock or anything, since he is a good coach, but he needs to do a better job of his line combinations. Sometimes he really doesn't put the right players together.
-
I highly doubt one single player is the reason why. Heck, he's hasn't even been playing that often. Budaj is the offical starter now in Colorado.
-
Grigorenko has been terrible, by all accounts I've heard. I really hope he doesn't make the Wings this season unless he really starts trying. That's the last thing we need: a lazy cancer who doesn't want to show any effort. Plus, I like Downey much more, and would rather seem him stay up with the Wings.
-
Good to hear. Hopefully there's an official confermation soon. I honestly can't see why he wouldn't play, though. Some of our guys like Kopecky and Ellis have been so useless in the past few games, it wouldn't make sense not to give Downey a chance finally. Plus, he really wants to play and has a good attitude, which is something that should go a long way with Babcock, given his indication for hard-working players. I'm surprised Koci didn't play last night, but given that Toews was ready, he was the likely choice out. I'd like to see him get in more, though, because he's an entertaining player.

why do players even bother appealing to the officials?
Kp-Wings replied to sirdrake's topic in General
How could I be so careless as to not mention Chris Chelios? In a sirdrake discussion, Chris Chelios is the heart and soul of the discussion. sirdrake is, after all, the #1 Chris Chelios fan in the entire world of Chris Chelios fans. His passion and devotion for Chris Chelios is unmatched. I should be more careful next time as to mention Chris Chelios in a Chris Chelios discussion. Besides: what's to stop Chris Chelios from not being in a discussion? Nothing! -
I must not have gotten the memo.

It's just a simple fact: the Wings don't come out to play against s***ty teams. The 'Hawks will be lucky to even be in the playoff race come April, so the Wings don't take them very seriously. Notice how we beat teams like Anaheim and Calgary, who are both good, but lose to bad teams like the 'Hawks. It's not because the Wings are not a good team: it's because the Wings don't take these bad team seriously enough. While it's disappointing to lose to Chicago, it's nothing more then just another game at this point. If the Wings start going on prolonged losing streaks, then the panic button can be hit. But that hasn't happened, and I have full confidence it won't. Zetterberg is on fire right now, and if we could get the rest of the team to start producing, things will go in our favor. So, with that said, I'm looking forward to Sunday's game in L.A. Hopefully Downey's so called Visa issues are worked, and he get's a chance to play.
