No, unfourtantly, at least not to my knowledge. This whole Center Ice "free trial" thing was a bunch of bulls***, to be honest. They didn't have last nights game up, nor do they have tonights up either. ...and, for some reason, the Detroit radio stations aren't playing the game tonight, at least not on the internet front. Bleh.

Most people don't, no. With that said, I don't think you'll find any Wings rooting the Av's on or anything. Even though the rivalry is long dead and gone, I still hope one day it would return. Heck, it would be nice to actually have a rival again. God I hate Nashville, and it's ridiculous people actually place that as a rivalry, when it's really not. There was maybe about one actually decent game against them last year, and that was it. So, here's something for old times sake: Av's suck. Oh, yeah, as for TJ: He's a great pickup for you guys, and should do very well in Colorado. It's just too bad the Wings decided to via Sweden again and pass up a great prospect like him. Just because Zetterberg turned out well doesn't mean every no-name Swede will.

Is there even a game tonight? TSN apparently says there is, but I have yet to see a GDT or anything about it. And, stupid internet radio refuses to put it on, if it is.

Always leave it to the anti-fighting squad to come in and piss all over everthing! First of all: the relavance of this topic means nothing. Nobody is saying Aaron Downey is going to win us a Stanley Cup. Nobody is saying that he's the 2nd coming of Steve Yzerman and Wayne Gretzky combined. Nobody is saying that the only reason we lost last year is because we didn't have Downey. Nobody has said anything such, so why is it that because us fans want a player here, everybody get's their dick all tied up in a knot? I swear, this board can be ridiculous on so many levels. If it were Igor Grigorenko or Johan Ryno we were pissing ourselves over, everybody would generally accept that. But because it's Aaron Downey, who God forbid actually fights people, it's considered wrong. No, fighting does not win hockey games. But at least having a guy that is willing to defend his teammates, most notably the star players, is an invaluable tool that, for the strangest reason, nobody even wants. I don't care if people don't want a fighter. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I think the Wings should have one, you don't, so I'm fine with that. But why is it everytime we do suggest a fighter, everyone goes ballistic and acts like we're a bunch of idiot cavemen because we want a fighter? I don't get it, and it's pretty astounding to say the least. Umm... did anyone say that it completely eliminated the problem? Having a fighter won't completely keep guys like Zetterberg from getting beat up on. But it will at least knock it down a little. Without any fighters at all, players just see it as free-range to do whatever they want, and don't have to worry about people going after them. Hint: Brad Stuart numerous times last year. You'd think Zetterberg slept with his wife or something, considering the amount of times Stuart went out of his way to cheapshot him. You've got to be kidding me. That is some of the most ridiculous crap I've ever seen. You are generally a pretty smart poster, but this is so far off base it's not even funny. Unless I'm waking up 5000 years in the future, when in the hell did Laraque become skilled? He has never had an offensivily productive season, nor has astonished people with his amazing skill (which he doesn't have). His skill level is about the same as every other fighter in the league... it generally sucks. That doesn't matter though, since he's a damn good fighter who will protect his teammates, most noteably Crosby. That's why Pittsburgh traded for him. Do you honestly think Ray Shero was sitting up in his office saying "Boy, we should get Georges Laraque because he is such a talented and skilled hockey player!!!"? I highly doubt he was. Laraque is in no way more "skilled" then Downey. All fighters are about the same: they don't have very much skill. Their fighting attributes are what make them stand out. Laraque is a much better fighter then Downey, I won't deny that. But Laraque is also not on the market right now, and not attending the Wings training camp, while Downey is. So, you take who's left. Ugh... you know, I don't care if people don't want fighters or stuff like that, but the amount of ridiculous arguements people try to make is what is so frustrating. I'd also like to thank Detroit #1 Fan for that very nice and informative list he posted, which none of the anti-fighting crew seemed to have a comeback for. Fancy that, eh? /end rant

Wow... Center Ice doesn't have the game on, 1270 isn't broadcasting it, and 97.1 doesn't let you listen to the game online... what a disappointment. I'm at work, and watching on TV isn't an option for me right now. Anyone know of somewhere else I can listen/watch?

Doesn't surprise me... hockey is very popular in Buffalo. As for the outdoor game proposal in Detroit... first of all, it's hard to plan that in advance. For one thing, the winters in Michigan are about as unpredictable as they come. It could be -20 with 6 feet of snow on the ground one day, and be 40 degrees with freezing rain the next. Last winter was mild for the most part, and with the exception of some cold patches in mid-December and late-February, it wasn't all that cold last year. Second of all... keep dreaming if you think we'll get a matchup against Toronto. That's reserved for Eastern Conference teams, more notably Montreal or Ottawa. If Detroit plays anyone in an outdoor game, it'll probably be somebody like Chicago. I certainly welcome the proposal of an outdoor game in Detroit, and would buy tickets right when they come out... but it's doubtful at this point it will even happen.

It's too bad that he's played on bad teams for most of his career. He was an outstanding goalie, as shown by his international record. Best of luck, Burke, and hope it works out well for you.

He's rejected Ottawa's offer. I'm starting to see a pattern here... it looks like he's going to pull a Jason Allison and not play at all next year. Allison was the same way... he had offers, but turned them all down. I'd still like to see O'Neill here, but his personal problems aren't an attractive sell to Holland.

I'd absolutley love to see Rolston here. He'd be such a great fit. You're definitly right on that. Holland isn't very willing to part with high end draft picks/prospects anymore, which really lives him on the outside looking in when the trade deadline comes around. He'll probably get somebody... but I certainly hope it isn't Fedorov.

Meech hasn't done anything to impress me as even being the #7 defenseman. I'd rather put Cullimore or Brad Ference in that role. As for Lilja... get rid of him. I've seen enough. Ideal defense (for me anyways) Lidstrom - Sopel Kronwall - Rafalski Lebda - Chelios Ference Sounds good to me!

Normally I assumed they would go back to the regular style, but being that it was the new jerseys and everything, I wasn't sure.

I hope Holland was taking notes tonight about Downey. He's done more in one game then Norton did in his entire career here last season. Downey is so much better, and hopefully he get's a chance here. Sign him now Kenny!

Yeah, that was a good hit by Cullimore. I hope he keeps it up, and knocks Lilja off the roster. Great game tonight! Hopefully they can carry the momentum into Thursday. First home game of the season coming up, and it would be nice to get a win. Too bad I didn't get to see much of Downey though... but good to hear he scored a goal.

I wish he'd start playing Downey more. I haven't seen him out much.

6-1 now. Great game tonight, and a great start to the pre-season. I'm getting ever so exited for the season to really start... and hopefully, I'll be treated to having Downey and Sopel on the final roster.
