I love how everybody is continuing to ***** about Lang, even after he's gone. While I agree, Lang definitly is overated by some of the fans of his on these boards, you can't discredit the guy for his goal against San Jose. I don't understand why people are continuing to do so. Oh well. Here's one just for good old times: Lang is lazy and he sucksâ„¢

Balsillie group accuses Bettman of forcing Preds to break off talks
Kp-Wings replied to edicius's topic in General
Conspiracy! Nah, I believe Balsillie in what he's saying, because Bettman came out and said he doesn't want the team in Hamilton. He prefers if they do move to go to Kansas City, because of the new arena. It'll be interesting to see how much longer this saga continues. I'll bet Puerto Rico get's an NHL franchise before Balsillie gets one in Hamilton. -
This is a statement I can totally agree with. I'll bet you that if the Wings wanted to sign another defenseman if Markov leaves, and it came down to Andy Sutton or Janne Niinimaa, he'd pick Niinimaa. You know it's true.
-
Hey, if Kopecky did that, at least he'd be doing something out there. Currently I do say Kopecky is the most useless player on the Wings current roster.
-
I would take Palffy in a heartbeat. He's such an amazing player when he's healthy. He has the ability to make players around him better. Put him on a line with someone like Hudler, and Hudler could very well be a 25 goal scorer like people say. I'm glad Palffy is deciding to come back. I'd love to see the Wings sign him if possible.

Oh no, I wasn't directing that at you. I was just speaking in general terms. There are quite a few Russians, like the names I mentioned, that get branded as lazy greedy jerks that don't care, when really, they're not that at all. They care about the game of hockey, and they care about winning a Stanley Cup. They shouldn't be given a bad name just because they come from the same country as some of the true losers, like Yashin. Oh well. I doubt that stereotype will chance anytime soon in the general public. That's just the way people are I guess, especially when it comes to Russians.
-
My Yzerman jersey still fits me plenty well enough, so I don't have to worry about buying one of these new ones. Especially if their going to cost as much as people say.
-
...and that's where the typical Russian stereotype comes in. I feel bad for guys like Vladdy, Larionov, Fetisov, Pavel and Valeri Bure, and other Russians that has been accused of being greedy and lazy by someone just off the stereotype, when they really aren't at all. Unfourtantly, because of losers like Yashin, they get that stereotype. The fact he is already making almost 3 million from NY Islanders, and still leaves to Russia for more money is just disgusting. Good riddance.
-
The NY Islanders are also putting theres on the front. Note that it's not been officially released, but from the picture shown, they do have it on the front. I just hate the idea. I know now that since stupid Buffalo did it, more teams will want to for some strange reason. And to think those idiotic Buffalo jerseys, slug logo and all, actually sold more than Crosby jerseys. Unbelieveable. Edit: The Dallas Stars are also putting the numbers on the front of their jersey as well.

I thought I heard Ken Daniels mention something about it years ago when we played Chicago, but I couldn't remember. I guess it really is true. I'm happy for Cullen. To overcome such a horrible thing like cancer, and still come back and play hockey shows a lot about the persons charecter.

Guy had all the talent in the world. Too bad that in the prime of his career he began to suffer from Alexei Yashin syndrome. He was a great player during the mid-90's-early 2000's.

Seriously, he's worse than that. I consider most fighters entertaining, even if they don't sit there and wave up the crowd or do any hot dog type stuff. Norton is not entertaining at all because he got his ass kicked in the majority of the fights he was in with the Wings. The fight with Nick Tarnasky was the only fight he did remotely good in, and even that was a stretch. A fight in general is pretty entertaining, even without these guys waving up at the crowd or whatever. But Norton was just plain brutal. None of his fights were entertaining from a Wings fans perspective, because he got his ass pretty well beat in each of them (or if not, he still didn't win). Of all the guys Kenny could have signed that year... he chooses Brad Norton. My personal choice would have been Krzysztof Oliwa. Too bad he retired... he was a really entertaining fighter. Oh well. Nothing that can be done about it now.

Anything below 5th. I love Stevie Y, but I don't feel he is in the top 5. He definitly is in the top 10 though, no doubt. He was a fantastic hockey player.

Those suck. Double whammy. First Nashville unvails their horrible new jerseys, now Pittsburgh. *Yawn*

Was it in Detroit or Calgary?

I don't understand why everyone thinks what I'm saying is so totally ridiculous. How is it? If the going ever gets rough, I doubt anybody on the current Wings roster will stick up for anybody. My problem with Holland is he goes out and gives these useless idiot players like Samulesson a 3-year extension because of one good season. Samulesson brings nothing to the table. And before I get the classic "Samulesson is a cheap 20 goal scorer" bulls***, keep in mind that Jason Williams was also a one-time 20 goal scorer, and he sucked beyond recognition. Everyone on these forums wanted him gone as well. I don't understand why it's so obsurd that the Wings add toughness. I mean, seriously. Who would be more valuable to this team? Arron Asham or Mikeal Samulesson? And if you want to know the reason why I'm dismissing, it's because of what went on during the season. The constant effect of players on other teams taking liberties on various Wings players, especially whenever we played St. Louis. There were 4 seperate incidences that came out of those games. None of which were ever dealt with by anyone on the Wings themselves, like what normally goes on in hockey. I'm not saying that one enforcer is going to completely stop the problem, because it won't. But God damn it: Why does everyone think I'm so crazy when I say an enforcer could be a big help to the Wings, and is a better player than Samulesson and can be used more effectivily? Christ, everyone on these forums always talks about how bad Samulesson is, yet whenever it comes down to topics like this, everybody always defends him. And nobdoy ever wants anybody to stick up for one another, which I can't understand either. I must be speaking in greek or something, because I don't see how what I'm saying is that bad. Because I don't think the Wings are that tough of a team? Oh boy, I'm such a horrible person, aren't I! Yet, considering the fact that nobody on the Wings ever sticks up for one another, that also makes me right. Did anybody go after Dallas Drake when he ran Lebda? No. Did anybody go after Raffi Torres when he crushed Williams? No. Did anybody go after Ryan Johnson when he ran over Hasek? No. Did anybody go after Brad Stuart when he checked Zetterberg from behind? No. Did anybody go after Ian Laparriere when he was running Hasek? No. It's not rocket science people. The Wings don't have anybody that will go after these guys that decide they want to take liberties. Again: I'm not saying one player will do the trick to make it stop, so don't accuse me of doing so. But it would, at least be a step in the right direction. And one last thing: before anybody thinks again that I'm just ranting or whatever, there is another good point to having an enforcer. If the Wings had somebody that other players knew would go after them if they pulled something stupid on one of the Wings star players, perhaps Zetteberg wouldn't have injured his back last season. Just some food for thought for those who think I'm such an assbag because I'm saying all of this. edited for grammar

Very true statement. Probably one of the reasons why the NFL and NBA are the two most popular sports in America. It's funny saying that too, considering baseball was once considered America's Pastime. Now, it's really not as popular as it used to be. The majority of people in the NFL are thugs, and very rarely do you find a classy person. Obviously you have the exceptions, like Barry Sanders being a good guy, but the majority of people in the NFL all do drugs on a regular basis. That being one reason why it's so popular.

The Sharks have a pretty decent team. They haven't lost anybody hugely specatcular, unless you consider Scott Hannan as part of that class. Plus they signed BRAD NORTON!!!11!!!!1 /sarcasm I'm curious to know why people are always so generous to teams like the LA Kings and Chicago. They go out and overpay for mundane free agents, and all of a sudden their a playoff calibre team? My ass. LA has the worst goalie in the league, and Chicago has and will continue to suck for years to come.
-
You actually like all these teams putting the numbers on the front? Worst idea ever. It looks so stupid to me. Why have the numbers on the front anyways? This sport really is turning more and more into basketball than it should be. Call me a tradionalist if you want, but I think it's a horrible idea. At least the Predators aren't doing it, even though their jerseys suck once again.
-
I can't believe Niinimaa is ranked 3rd on that list. I consider Sutton and Berard better than him, even though Berard is almost blind.
-
If Drake got Kopecky to play physical, all would be right with the world. Interesting interview. Thanks for posting.

I don't understand all the Aebischer criticism. He's a good goalie in my opinion. It's just a shame he ended up in hockey purgatory (aka Phoenix). Poor guy. His record won't be very good next year on that team.
-
I remember hearing about this. Nothing was going on when it happened, since it came just when everyone got off the ice at the end of practice. Talk about lucky.

ESPN desperate to get the NHL back? Hah, that's bulls***. During the season, they show hockey highlights on SportsCenter for a grand total of 20 seconds, while basketball highlights steal up the whole show. There is no way ESPN actually wants the NHL back. I'm sure they are aware of the horrible TV ratings during this years SCF. I can't believe you guys actually believe what Eklund is saying. This is the same guy that said the Flyers were going to sign Teemu Selanne, and also said Ryan Smyth was a sure fire to re-sign in Edmonton.

They look pretty identical to the old ones.
