I say let him go. Let's keep Kenny holland for another 15 years or so. Let Yzerman bounce around the league, have some success, and when holland is done, let's hire an experienced Stevie Y to To take over. Let him go and get as much experience as possible. then when we're ready for him, sign him up

Detroit at Ottawa DETROIT Well, they're only worth 1 win, and if I don't get a win this week, I won't survive till next week...I'll take the sure bets first

Philly's Spectrum is there Too. One of their criteria is that the stadium still has to be active (Hence the omission of Tiger stadium) So what other hockey arenas do you want? Maybe columbus for how State of the art it is, but all the old arenas are gone. Unless you want to include The Igloo or Nassau Coliseum. After the Top 10, there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why to incluse the stadiums or why one is better than the other. Joe Louis is city Hall to Hockeytown and we throw octopi. that's the reasoning behind us being on the list. Meh, I wouldn't really expect the Joe to make it. I think it's a pretty Junkie arena. it got some publicity because we've won a lot there, but i personally can't wait till we get a new rink. I went to Game 6 IN dallas this year, and I was Blown away by their Arena, as well as their atmosphere. Out side they had Music Blaring, Giant inflatable hockey players out on the Street, tons of people doing activities outside before the game, and the arena inside was beautiful. During the game, that crowd was much more passionate and much louder than any wings game I've been to. I think a Brand new state of the art arena will Definitely improve on that. Go Wings.

I like both of them the same.... but I thought datsyuk should have won the selke Hands down. Zetterberg may have been a better checker or better at shadowing another player, but i've Never seen a guy strip the puck away from SO many players like I did Datsyuk last year. here's an article i found about his takeaways "He knows, to the tune of one hundred forty-four takeaways in 82 games last season. That's 58 more than any other skater, and 37 more than the previous single-season record, which was set by Datsyuk himself during the 2006-07 season. Statistically, Datsyuk's level of dominance was so complete, that to rival it, Washington Capitals' forward Alexander Ovechkin would've needed to score 87 goals and 177 points in order to maintain the same level of separation between his totals and those of his closest runners-up. San Jose's Joe Thornton would've needed 110 assists, 43 more than his league-leading total of 67, in the same number of games." That's unbelievable. And it was his ability to take the puck away from the other guy that i thought made him a better defensive player. many experts agreed. Here's the final Vote total for the Selke Datsyuk 537 points (43-9-7-3-0) Madden 447 points (18-18-16-17-10) Zetterberg 425 points (22-20-6-10-5) Datsyuk pretty much won it in a landslide. If I had to pick to keep only one of them, I'd pick Zetterberg, but I mean, It would really be like deciding which one of your legs you want chopped off.

Never been more excited for a wings team as I am this year. Zetterberg and Datsyuk are making a strong case to replace yzerman as My Favorite wing of all time. Yes I mean WING. I kept going back and forth about who I like better, then I jsut said F it....they're both My favorite player. No real Point to this....just another way to exute some Red Wing slappines. started an NHL keeper league this year....first 2 picks - Z and dats. why do you care ? Probably don't but i'm pumped about it.

You guys Suckered me In. Bought a Patrick Kane Jersey. Already have RBK Z and Dats Jerseys from the Joe. along with an Yzerman and Kocur, So I don't really NEED anymore wings Jerseys right now. I'm hoping that Kane's Lettering won't be so messed...not a big deal to some, but that totally turned me off. I notice right away when somethings Off on a Jersey (Like the Numbers being too short on the ones they sell at the Joe) I was thinking about only buying if I didn't get the numbers...that way it wouldn't be screwed up, But i fugured for 37.81 (got the cheapest shipping) I'm gambling that they can't screw "KANE" up as bad as Zetterberg. I was real close to buying an Ovechkin Jersey too, but with a longer name, I was a bit afraid of them mashing the letters together. I'll update in a month or so about how it looks...also looking forward to seeing some of the other jerseys people are buying off this site once they get them

here in canada, our Gas Prices are a lot higher than in the states....on average in detroit, what you're selling it for come out to about 85-90 cents a litre.....in comparison we spent our summer spending $1.30 - $1.40 a litre....now we're down to $1.20 ..... there's jsut under 4 litres in a gallon, so we've got to be paying around $5 a gallon over here. We have it worse I sure hope every game doesn't sell out. I went to 7 games last year (I had gone to 7 in my entire life previously) and I don't think i had to pay face Value once. In a Game vs. Dallas, I got 6th row lower bowl for $50 a piece. Fans not showing up = Cheaper tickets for me.

just came across this in the NHL Yearbook. Kris Draper needs 50 GP to reach 1,000 Kirk Maltby needs 58 games To reach 1,000 I say we Bench draper for the first 8 games of the year, and then let them play out the season, and Play their 1,000th game together. That Would Be Game 58 Feb. 20th At home vs. Anaheim. Way To Go Malts and Drapes! Also Niklas Lidstrom is 62 points away from 1,000 points. He's been consistently getting 60-70 points for some time now, So, barring any Injuries, He Should Get it This year. Can't Wait for the season to start.

Meh, I like it as a yearly Tradition. But just not on Bowl day. I'd maybe rather see it on Christmas, Christmas eve or Boxing Day. I'd prefer Christmas eve, and make it a tradtion. Bettman wanted to make it a day where everybody was at hiome watching TV (good philosophy) But I think it should have it's own day. NBA has Christmas, I'd like it to be Christmas eve. Think about all the kids growing up, 30 years from now Just remebering the tradtition of watching the outdoor game EVERY Christmas eve, getting ready for all the presents tomorrow and all that good stuff. Next year is rumored to be December 9th, so, hopefully, that gets them off of Bowl Day.

Well, it'd be cool to see him tie Gordie's record of 26 seasons. But I also wouldn't mind seeing him do it in Chicago next year. If we're gonna sign the Big boys, we're going to need all the cap space we can get next year.
-
We'll gain a tiny bit of cap space with the Defenceman/men we trade before the season. Not much, though. We'll gain a little bit of cap space with (I'm assuming) Chelios retiring after THIS year. Not Much though. We will hopefully gain a couple million dollars in cap space just from the expanding cap. Not much though. It looks like we'll need to say goodbye to Downey, McCarty and Samuelsson after this year. hopefully McCarty going out with a second cup will be satisfying enough for him and all his fans. Moving Cleary, making close to 3 mil. Might be necessary to resign Franzen, Hossa and Zetterberg. From what it sounds like, Hossa's made enough money and wants to win. I can see him as well as Zetterberg taking something closer to Datsyuk Money long term, rather than Lidstrom Money. If Hudler's goign to be relegated to the 3rd line, Maybe he becomes expendable too? I'd hate to give up on him, and i love the way he plays....But he'll make 1.5 mil next year, and do you want to tie that kind of money up on a third liner, when we have a chance to resign Hossa?? It looks Tight. I don't see how Holland will be able to do it. They're over the cap already. To me, It seems Impossible. If it were up to me, I'd sacrifice Franzen for Hossa. I love Franzen, But If you put the two next to each other, and HAVE to decide one or the other....I gotta go hossa. I just can't see how they could keep all 3 guys. But That's Why Kenny Holland is the GM and Not Me! In Holland We Trust!!!! Get this done Kenny....I don't know how, but get it done!

They lost a 4th game 38-0 I believe. that's 192 goals against in 4 games. That's more goals than the wings gave up in 82 Games last year!! lol Apparently Bulgaria put in the back up goalie with about 5 minutes left, and she gave up 5 goals on 5 shots in a minute and a half!! This tournament is to Qualify for the olympics, and goals for Will be a tie breaker stat. With the other teams scoring 30-40 goals, yeah, I'm sure the slovak women just took this game seriously and tried to jump ahead as far as possible. If this were jsut a friendly exibition game, I could see not running up the score...but when an olympic birth is at stake, you're not out there to be "friendly" to the opponent. Also, who let in that 1 goal? who ever it is, is going to need to shore up their Defence before 2010 (Seanny B dropped that line earlier today)

I can't actually find the year, But the Kings Joined the league in 1967, wearing the Purple and Yellow. All I could find was that the "lakers changed to the Purple and yellow in the Late 60's" Jack Kent Cook Owned Both the lakers and the kings, So I wouldn't doubt if he made Both Teams wear Purple (Or "Forum Blue" Cooke like the color purple, but not the term "Purple") During the same season. Reguardless, The Kings Gold and Forum Blue Jerseys are not "Just a rip off of the lakers"

I'll Justify it. Delvecchio played 22 years with the team and served as Captain. Nuff Said. I'd take Datsyuk and Zetterberg over Fedorov. If Datsyuk didn't win the Selke Last year, Zetterberg would have. I'll say all 3 are selke candidates. Fedorov got what 126 points? that's from a time when you'd see 10 100 point scorers though. Dats's 90 something points are, to me equivalent to 100+ points in the early 90's. Z jsut needs to stay healthy and he'll be right there too. Z Won the Conn Smythe, Fedorov never did. I'm not saying it's hands down clear cut, But i'm jsut saying it CAN be justified, and I Can Definitely see the case for and against it. But with people's personal Lists, I don't think Z and Dats are a stretch. Mine Line 1 Lindsey - Yzerman - Howe Line 2 Fedorov - Zetterberg - Datsyuk Line 3 Shanahan - Delvecchio - Ullman Line 4 Probert - Abel - Redmond Defence - Lidstrom - Red Kelly - Konstantinov - Reed Larson - Pronovost - Chaisson G -Sawchuck - Cheveld....I mean Osgood How Does reed Larson not get more love? I knew he was good for us, but I wnet at looked up some stats, he's still 9th in all time Red Wings scoring. i know he played in the 80's but it's weird how nobody ever talks about him.

I googled it myself, found mostly message boards that have topics with 0-5 replies each. I think LGW Is a Superb Red Wings Message Board, anyone know of a Good Lions board I could Join?

Way to get it off of Bowl day. It Really Needs to be On a Saturday evening though. Start it while it's light out, and make it end when it's dark.....That would be the ideal time IMO
-
"But they're still over the cap. Something has to give, and I believe his name starts with an "R" and ends with an "obert Lang." Even The Hawks Fans are counting down the days until they can get rid of him

Back in 95, 96, 97 yes you could...all the players were there. You jsut had to be luckey enough to be at the right booth at the right time for when he switched in. Then once he would switch in, everybody would rush to get there. There were Other Red Wing Old Timers there Scotty bowman was There Signing. I would Imagine that unless Yzerman has something else pretty important going on, He'd Sit and Sign for a couple hours.
-
HAHHA, Yeah, I got My Dwight Foster Autograpgh too, as well as Yan Golubovsky. lol The Players sat in the bars that are around the Joe, and you line up at one. You would pick one with say, Darren McCarty, and know it's a 2 hour wait. And maybe an hour into your wait, McCarty Leaves (cause he had been there for 3 hours) and someone replaces him. Now, that Someone might have been dwight foster, or that Someone might have Been Yzerman. I can remember getter Lapointe, Kozlov, Konstantinov, Foster, Golubovsky, Bowman, Dandenault, Lidstrom And Osgood. I had Gotten My Picture taken With Ozzie in the Penalty box and he said that he was going to stay late and Sign Autographs again. So at the end of the fest, when everything was wrapping up, Ozzie Stayed an extra 2 hours to sign for anybody that wanted an autograph. I loved Him in 93-94 when he was CAlled up, and saved us From Chevy, Riendeau and Peter Ing (Anyone remember that LA game?). He becamse My Favorite goalie That year, and becasue of that Summer, He Still is My favorite Goalie of All Time. I can't explain how happy i was for him to Come back to Detroit, and then lead them to another Cup. I'm so glad to hear that they're bringing this back, as a 10 year old, it really was the one day of the year that I looked forward to more than any other.

I don't think a lot of People Realize, That Chelios has now played as many seasons as a wing as he did as a hawk. He played 8 1/2 years as a Hawk, and 8 1/2 seasons with detroit, with one season lost to lockout. So really, 9 1/2 years compared to 8 1/2 with chicago. Granted he did play more games with the Hawks and that 1/2 year, he played 65 games with chicago, and only 10 +playoffs with Detroit. Next year, he'll have played more seasons with Detroit than he did as a Hawk. He Also played 7 years with Montreal. I understand why he's remembered as a Hawk, he was the face of that Franchise, and the gave up Dennis Savard for him. That's huge, But as mentioned previously, he's won Cups in det. and Montreal, and He won his first Norris as a Hab. Weird how he's practically played 1 third of his career in each city, But is universally recognized as a Hawk.

Well, yeah, but then I'm adding to the problem by Not supporting them during the regular season, and showing up for the Finals. And that was my point, any time I had Extra Cash to Spend, it went to the Wings. I had jsut come back from a trip to dallas, and was trying to stay tight with my cash, so I could get to a finals Game. I tried To find a ticket for 300$ , but couldn't get in the building for anytihng less than 450. Like I said, I know it's a Bitter attitude, and Like I said, I don't think I'm special, I think there are Thousands of fans like Me. I think we could have filled the Joe with 20,000 fans Like me. I'd even Imagine that 95% of the people that post here are the "good fans" If you spend your extra time writing about the Wings. I do feel bad for the "good" fans that Did save the 500$ a ticket as opposed to me who only held 300$ for it, and got screwed. But if it wern't for the Rich bandwagon fans that didn't get interested until the finals, The people that Paid 500$ a ticket, and 500$ was a lot to them, might have only dropped 300$

I'm going to Show My bitter and Cyniacle Side here, i guess, But i'm happy that they lost Game 5 And Yes, i'm a huge Wings Fan. Detroit fans didn't deserve to see the Wings win the Cup this year. I've gone to about 7 games in my life before this year, and I went to 7 games This year alone. Out of those 7 games, not one was a sell out. Growing Up, I always wished that I had a job that allowed me to go to as many wings games as possible. and now that I finally have a full time job (I don't make very much though) I used most of my expendable income on Wings Games. I went to Dalllas in the spring as was even lucky enough to catch game 6 vs. the stars. I go to the games, I buy the jerseys, i always try to trade my tickets up at the last minute, I buy Beer and food at the game, I'm there for warm ups, and I'm there for the 3 star Selection. and I am loud every moment in between. In frank, I'm am what every fan should be. I'm not saying I'm special, there are others like me. MANY others like me. Most of whom have Families and mortgages, that they have to worry about, and thus, cannot attend Playoff games or as many games as I could. when Playoff time came around, I tried desperately to get someone, anyone to come to a game in the first 2 rounds, against Nashviulle or colorado, no one was interested. I got to see game 6 in Dallas, and was determined to see a game in the finals. I was willing to pay 2-300 Dollars for a ticket to get in. I couldnt' find any in that price range. So, while I was going to game after game during the seasson, dropping 50$ a game to get in, plus at least anouther 50$ in beer and food, and bought 2 jerseys at the games, the arena was no where Close to being full, and no where close to being loud. And now, all of a sudden, the wings are in the Finals, and all of our "die hard fans" Show up and have 500$ to spend on a ticket. I know it's an immature way to think, I know I should jsut be happy my team won, I know it seems like a selfish way to look at things, but I'm not bitter just for myself, I'm not like that. I don't think the world is against me, but I am pretty bitter for Myself as well as thousand and thousands of others Like myself who were there all year when others wern't and just got priced out of the game that mattered. I didn't want to see them win the cup at home. I didn't want to see the fans that iddn't show up all season, who were able to go to that games becasue they have 500$ sitting around for a ticket, and now, all of a sudden the wings are "good enough" for them to spend a night on them. This team this year has been one of the most dominant Hockey teams I've ever seen in my life. Those who went to the games and saw the final shots consistently at 40-15 know what I'm talking about. We are Not hockeytown, and I am personally glad that those rich Lower bowl Bandwagon jumping snobs didn't get to see what I didn't get to see. GO WINGS, GO REAL FANS!

Draper Had nothing to do with essenssa. We got him for a Dollar. I don't know if it was Paper, Or if it was a Loonie....but a dollar for Draper nonetheless. I Remember Well, trading Essenssa to Edmonton for Future Considerations. I was upset by that. I liked Him, I liked Vernon and Osgood too, but I liked essenssa, and was disappointed he didn't make his mark as a wing. I was Sad to See Cheveldae go, but thouhgt at least we get a premier goalie in return for Him (He was "premier" to me, because he was on the 91-92 Pro Set GAA Leaders Card. That meant he HAD to be really good, right) Alas We traded our Returns From Chevy and Drake away for Future Considerations. I payed Close attention over the next year or so, To find out What we'd Get for Essenssa. I think Someone up top Might have forgotten this Trade, and Edmonton Still Owes us some Considerations. With 13 years of Intrest added on to our consideration, Think we could make a play for hemsky?
