Lets throw in the Fact that The Wings arn't on Free TV in Detroit. I'm from Windsor, and Growing Up, I'd get to see about a game a week on channel 50. Now, I don't get to see them until late in the year when Abc or NBC or who ever has them now decides to start showing Hockey. Just not good enough. It's rediculous how unavailable the wings are to watch on Free Detroit TV.

Ummm, Don't get me wrong here, I'm a huge Wings fan, and I love that we have Dallas Drake back....But Correy Perry Won that fight by a landslide. He got the first big blow in, got more shots that mattered in, and Took Drake Down First. Drake Got some Haymakers in, But Perry still had his helmet on, so they dind't do very much Damage.

Anybody find the Wings game on the net? I'm looking through on Sopcast, and I've only found the Canadiens/Hurricanes game so far

Ticket Prices are too high for a good team that people don't Believe will win the Cup.....94-04, every year detroit fans Expected to win the cup, and was in love with that team. Since 02, we've seen playoff exit after playoff exit to teams that wern't supposed to be good. We're used to losing against less than teams in the playoffs, and until they prove they can win it all, it's not worth twice as much to watch us in the season that we're not as good in. Popularity of the Tigers and Pistons. Back in 94-02 The Pistons and the Tigers sucked. If the Lions can put something together, watch out. Wings were hockey town when, in a MAJOR sports town, they were the only team that was winning. NOw that there are 2 other teams that are contenders, Detroit isn't Red Wings Crazy anymore. The Loss of our Big name players also has something to do with it. This isnt' the Hall of Fame team that we used to be, But they're still charging us as if it was. I think it'd almost be best if we could suck again, that way, the REal Fans could afford to go to more games. As far as PR is Concerned, Does anybody remember REd Wings Fan fest? Then It Got Renamed to REd Wings Rally? I went maybe 3-4 years, when I was 10-13/14, from 1994 till 1996 or 97. It was Held at Joe louis, it was an all day event, there were Different wings, Past Present and Future signing around the arena, in the concession booths, there were players in the penalty box taking pictures, they had some Jr.Wings (OHL) there, they had hall of fame set ups all throughout the ice ( which was Cemented for the event. The Line ups were long for Autographs, But I always looked forward to it, and all the Big names like Yzerman, Fedorov, Vernon, Osgood etc. were there. Some of the Autographs that I got there that I cherish are - Osgood, Lidstrom, Konstantinov, McCarty, Yan Golubovski, Martin Lapointe, Dino Ciccarelli and Shawn Burr

I like it, it's different, It's updated, and it's kinda something I had in mind. Don't get me Wrong, I would be pissed to no end if the Wings ever changed their logo, But I'd like to see more concepts, more interpretations, more ideas for a red wings logo. I'm not saying I like it better than the one we have, but it's just a concept, an idea some fan threw out there....I don't know why everyone's taking this so seriously.

Good Idea, but I doubt you can find an extra 2 minutes of the Red Wings Being Physical This Season

Orr Gretzky Lemieux Howe Richard Messier Esposito Lafleur Beliveau Bobby Hull Doug Harvey Paul Coffey Steve Yzerman Marcel Dionne Ray Bourque If you include Goalies, I'd Have Sawchuck, Roy, Hasek,Dryden and Possibly Brodeur ahead of him. Guys like Hull, Beliveau, Lafleur and Esposito Dominated their Era....Coffey, when he played was the third Best D-Man of all time (you could argue that Bourque Surpassed him since) He won Cups with Edmonton and Pittsburgh, and was a half of a year away from winning with Detroit. Doug Harvey Owned the norris for what? 6 years? Best D-man from the Original six. Steve Yzerman dind't have the Historical Impact that those guys had. So, as Great as a player as he was, He Never won any IMportant Awards, Other than the Pearson, and You could argue the Conn Smythe, But if you look at the List of Conn Smythe Winners, it doesn't Compare with the List of Art Ross or Hart Winners. He Never won a scoring title and never won an MVP award. Steve Yzerman is my All time Favorite player. To me he is number one, and I'd have to be forced to pick a number 2. He's Just My Guy, Period. But Objectively his Trophy Case Does Not compare to those other guys, and His Historical Impact on the game does not compare the Other guys. SO, I guess I have him 12th...and That Clearly doens't include anybody that played before 1940. If you include Goalies, I have him Ranked 16/17th. For the Peopel that have him Ranked 3rd or 4th.... What??? You cannot intelligently and Objectively Argue that Yzerman Ranks ahead a list Of Howe, Gretzky, Richard, Orr And Lemieux. If anybody has hime ranked higher than 5th, you're a homer, you are a REd wings fan, but Not a Hockey Fan. If you have him Ranked Above Bobby Hull, Guy Lafleur, Jean Beliveau And Phil Esposito, you Just didn't realize that Hockey went on During the 50's/60's If you have him Ranked above Messier, you're Ignoring 2 Hart Trophy's 3 more Cups than Steivie, he's got a Pearson, he's got a Conn Smythe, he was seen at about the same level as stevie as far as leadership goes, some say Mess was better, some say Stevie was better, but no one would argue against them being in the same class. Paul Coffey, A case could be made either way to have him there. 48 Goals as a Defenceman is just impressive

I'm definitely picking lang in my hockey pool next year

Well, it's not like he had any loyalty to us. WE traded for him, knowing he was a ufa this summer, he had no more ties to us than Tomas Sandstrom did in 97, when we traded for him. (Where did he sign that summer? lol) I seriously didn't unsderstand why everybody had theri hearts set on him returning next year. Detroit was jsut as likely to sign him as any other team...but this isn't the same Detroit team as the pre cap era team, that had unlimited money to spend. The only people I feel sorry for, are the ones that went out and bought a Bertuzzi Wings Jersey. now they can hang it up right next to their Hatcher and Uwe Krupp Jerseys

Everybody wants the original 6 to stay traditional, but you've gotta remember, how many different Jerseys have the bruins gone through? or the Leafs? The Hawks have been stagnant for the past 40 years, but before that, they were changing all the time. For the Wings, Habs and Rangers, it's traditional to keep everything the same, but for the other 3, (give or take chicago) it's all about changing and evolving and keeping up with the style. Like the new Caps Jersey, I think the blue 96-2000ish one was their nicest, and I really like their white one, but this one really gets back to their roots, a whole lot better than Buffalo did. I'm all for the Caps new jersey. I'd personally see the canucks go back to yellow and black. I think the times are ready for mustard jerseys again, just look at the sales of their retro jersey...I bought one. but, for some reason that green and blue style remains the most popular, so i'm cool with them going with that. From most of what I've heard from the people that like it, they all love just the plain stick as the logo. So, hopefully, for the fans that liked that Jersey, they'll jsut go back to the original logo. I hate the Sens new Jerseys, the red ones, I much prefer the original logo, and the original black and white with red trim jerseys. San Jose, seems to be a major overhaul, wich is fine....I stopped liking their jerseys since they moved away from the simple design, and tried to 2000ize it. It got too busy, and IMO doesn't look good at all. Hopefully, we'll get some positive this year, last year, I didn't like Buffalo's change, and I hated anaheim's change, they went from a team with a logo and a color scheme that was original and cool, to a bland colored jersey with no logo...From the looks of the Caps jersey, this looks promising

Optimistic Thread....Series is Tied ! Were not out
Tane replied to Calgary Wings Fan's topic in General
I lost my optimism in game 2 when the Wings lost their Drive to win. They got a goal quick, and then another quick goal on a 5-3. Up 2-0 and couldn't bury the flames with how many more power plays? One of them being another 5-3 The fact that they coulnd't bury them in the first period made me think that they thouhgt they already had this series won. Being up 1 game to 0, and gettting the first 2 quick goals. Sure enough, they got out with a 3-1 win, and now have lost the next 2 games. This team lacks Passion, When the going gets tough, the wings start to make reservations at their country clubs. Ever since this team started winning cups again, they've been a bunch of prima donnas, with no passion, no drive and no desire to win. They get spoiled playing for this team and have a sense of entitlement. That's why you see teams like Clagary, Edmonton, Minnesota Doing well, they're "Middle class" teams, and arn't afraid to go balls to the wall for what they want. This wings team needs to get Tougher, and I'm not talking about Bertuzzi, WE need Grit and Passion like Sean Avery, We Maltby to be full of piss and vinegar like he used to be, This team will not win the cup with what it has, They need to implode and start from scratch. Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Lang are not the guy that are going to lead a team to the cup, Franzen, Samuelsson, cleary and calder arn't the secondary Scoring that's going to bring home the cup. Maltby and Draper don't have the Grit anymore to bring you to a cup. For Bertuzzi to be effective, it needs to be HIS team. He was able to develop in Vancounve, and along with Naslund be the Face of that club. He comes to Detroit, as a Star, but this isn't HIS team, so we are not going to get the Todd Bertuzzi everybody wants. This will not be The Todd Bertuzzi from Vancouver. he's going to be a star player mixed in the shuffle, as opposed to the leader of the team that's going to bring the cup home. We just need to fill the team with guys that would die do win. If we had 20 Tomas Holmstroms, we'd probably have to fight to get in to the playoffs, but I'd like my chances once I was there, than my chances with this team. Go wings -
Whoa, Someone just called the Bure days Super old. Boy does that make me feel old. and i'm only 22 I hated when they changed to the orca or whatever, to reflect the corporation that bought them. I liked the 90's jersey, and I even like the yellow ones from the 80's. so ugly, they were Awesome. I bought the retro version as soon as it came out, and whenever i go downtown (Windsor) wearing it, I always get stopped by a Canucks fan. I like the New Jersey's comming out, ever since they brought back the 70's style a couple years ago, the fans have been demanding more of it. I think the Canucks did a WAAY better job at getting back to their roots, while updating, than the Nashville Slugs, I mean Buffalo Sabres did

So Crosby has Taken the League Points lead with 51 poinjts, notching 10 points over the last 2 games. Last year, he got 102 points in 81 games. This Year, in 28 games, he has 51 points...half of last years. He may not Ever touch Gretzky's numbers, but he's definiteley the Gretzky of this era, just wanted to touch upon the fact that he already has half of the points he had last year, and that i'm pretty excited about watching this Kid's career unfold.
