Well thanks for keeping it civil. We should just settle our arguments with games of NHL10 on x-box live. If I wasn't terrible at it I'd totally do that. Too bad I spend all my time playing games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

Well played. By the way-- I hate that the NHL, as a league, bend over for network tv worse than any other sport. We have zero bargaining power. NBC wants the Cup Finals moved ahead a week? Bettman says "yes sir!". Holy crap that would be cool looking. Really bizarre but definitely cool. Didn't Gretzky play an exhibition in Vegas back in the 90's?

at least he isn't Millbery

I'm only trolling you because you know I'm just being a piss ant. We can do this back and forth without it being a big deal but you know you're just causing s*** when you do it to random people on here. Dude-- Ovechkin's the best player in the league. And no-- I'm not saying that to bug Carman. I'm saying that because the seperation between Crosby and Ovechkin in terms of points per game is literally the same as the separation between Zetterberg and Bertuzzi. It's not even close. Ovechkin's missed 10 games so far and he's still raping Crosby's numbers. Ovechkin's been the best player in the league every year for the last 3 years. It's laughable that anyone could say Crosby is better. Unless we're talking solely about face-offs you just can't base that argument in reality. Edit: double post for the win!

Tyler Kennedy plus a top prospect? Seriously? That's an amazing low-ball. Sutter would laugh in their face.

How many times can you bring up that one incident out of his 1514 game career? Pro Tip: (1/1514)*(100%)= 0.07% Yzerman was gooned it up seven one-hundredths of a percent of the time. edit: spelling

lol Right, because you have to stretch back to 2002 to think of when Lidstrom was arguably the best player in the league? How about 2007? Because he was then. Keep trolling it up, though, because you're the only one here who honestly thinks Crosby is better than Ovechkin. Even Crosby knows Ovi is better.

Things could have been so different.

lol Carman-- I love how you play innocent about trolling. I too am well versed in the troll arts. I can see through to your dark side. Come back to the light... abstain from Crosby for 30 days and you'll... like totally win something during "Roll Up the Rim to Win".

This. Although it's worth noting that we've beaten them 7 times in the finals and they've only beaten us 6 times.
-
I suspect we'll hear that type of duality from their fan base for the next few months.
-
Just imagine the ratings you'd get with Caps vs Rangers at the new Yankee stadium!

Holland would've jumped at that chance. The Atlanta GM? Probably not I agree with you that Williams has been worse than useless, though. At some point in the future I'd like to force Babcock to sign a contract promising to never use a 3rd line forward on the PP point again.

7 years is a very, very, very long time to lock any goalie up. It's even more dangerous if the goalie has only two years of NHL work to base your decision on. At 3.5 million it'd be impossible to move him unless he was putting up true #1 goalie numbers. If you're going to commit to a goalie for that long of a term with such a small body of evidence you better get a better deal than that or have some very confident talent analysis done. I like your short-term deal better based on where Howie is now. If he plays like he is now for the next year I'd be far more confident paying him more and/or giving a longer term.

Why are people more afraid of Luongo than Nabokov? Luongo: 14th in Sv%, 12th in GAA Nabokov: 6th in Sv%, 8th in GAA Nabby has better numbers on an equally good defensive team. Neither is as scary as Bryzgalov but Luongo is definitely the the less impressive of the three. He's easily taken off his game and has been pulled about 82 times this year. Luongo has the potential to be terrifying but he's really not been impressive this year.

Calgary needs a new GM. They rip their roster apart annually and then wonder why it isn't gelling. Honestly, it's shocking how dumb Sutter is in that respect. Chemistry can't grow when you throw your team in the blender once a year. Does he not notice that perennial contenders rarely change their core players?
-
I get what you're saying man. I'm not advocating they do a Nashville vs. Minnesota game but I think they can do a better job than using Pitts again. The market is saturated with Crosby. The Caps should definitely be one of the teams-- Ovi sells the game and they haven't been in a classic yet. What about the Rangers? The NY market is retardedly huge. The Kings? That's another huge market that would turn in just because it's a local team. Plus they're young and upcomers. The Sharks are a good choice too-- they actually have a very strong following and are full of stars. I think it'd be smart to include an NCAA rivalry game alongside the WC as well. NCAA rivalry sells in the USA. Michigan vs Ohio anyone? Fans from Basketball and Football know how hot that game would be and just might tune in hoping to see some fights.

I know, I just like ripping on Luongo. "Pretty good" and "don't see any other goalie besides Miller getting the Vezina" are two different animals. My point was that other goalies have significantly closed the gap with him. Bryzgolov in particular is making a very strong case. He's killing it in SO and has brought the Coyotes within reach of the Western Conference lead.
-
Clearly Ovechkin will be there but when did you hear Sedin was going to be playing for the Caps or Pens next season? If this was about the most profitable teams in the NHL the Leafs would be playing in the 2011 Winter Classic. lol wut? You needed to read the replies here to question that? What percentage of the world population do you assume has worked with a national marketing campaign?
-
Bah, same diff.
-
His GAA and Sv% are too far below the top values this season. Marty is 7th in GAA and 17th in Sv%. He's tied for 2nd in SO, so that helps, but his GAA and Sv% just aren't up to snuff. Assuming you didn't just step out of a time machine from December 2009, I disagree.

Luongo is about as likely to win the Vez this year as Phaneuf is to win the Norris. Luongo has been baaaadddd this season. He's the weakest part of the Canucks and the entire league knows it.
-
Agreed. But that's why I'm glad of three things about this situation: 1. Howard isn't up for until next summer-- he'll have to do just as well next year. 2. Howard will be an RFA (I believe) 3. Ken Holland is the best GM in the NHL.
