Babcock finally took Williams off the point of the power play. When was the last time he 'tinkered 'with the lines that weren't working? I know the cards are the same.but shuffling the deck can give you a new look.

Our second line is only that because of their collective payroll. Its clearly the fourth line when it come to effectiveness. Give Hudler a real role before the playoffs start and replace Langfeld,as he is often penalized and I'm not sure what he brings to the team. Let's try moving Franzen up,as I believe he is under utilized on the fourth line. We have Lang, Langfeld, and Languishing (Franzen on the fourth Line)

Williams has not been the same since his concussion.Cleary is fast and hardworking,so I'd keep him. Lang on that line...lets not go there right now.

Everyone always looks for a big name during the trade deadline.Lets get a Tkachuk,or a Guerin,Foresberg etc.... Lets face it ,most of the fun is in the anticipation. When was the last time a last minute deal of a big name veteran player actually put a team over the top? Most of these players are on the severe down slope of their career, and are relied on because of their past glories. This team needs to be tougher and grittier, but we've heard that a thousand times. One older veteran player is not going to be the difference.I believe the complexion of this team has to change considerably to compete in a different world called the playoffs. I would like to see the aquisition of younger, faster players, that will play with an edge. I would like to see players that will drop the gloves if their teamate is in trouble, but doesn't have to be an "enforcer". I would like to find two or three players like ........Sean Avery. I would like these players to not be "head cases" like .....Sean Avery. Do these players exist, and can we get them?

I am hoping the Red Wing faithful can come up with some possible players that are young, fast, and abrasive, but do not have to be 'snipers". Anyone know much about Ryan Johnson from St. L ? He has impressed me with his speed, hands, and driving to the net?

The Canes needed more veteran presence in the locker room,I did not think they were effective on the ice.The younger guns, goaltending and Brind d'mour did all the on ice work.
-
This team is bult to beat any team in a one game series. In best out of 7,we always get outmuscled and the coaching staff cannot adapt to the oppositions' strategies.
-
Great for the Wings and Homer. We need about 3 more just like him.I hope he has a no trade clause, but I'm sure Kenny would never" sign and swap",as he's too loyal.
-
How much of a chance was he given? His name was thrown out there as an example to describe a playing style.I'm sure there are many out there similar (and better) that can be aquired without selling the farm. This team has always drafted diamonds in the rough, but we can never seem to trade for them.
-
Some examples of the kind of player that I think we need: Drake,Tucker,Avery (without the mouth),Bootland etc. They don't have to be big names, but role players with sandpaper styles that will contribute when the going gets really tough.ie (In April)

I believe the purpose of this forum is to exchange ideas and opinions and stimulate conversation, not stifle it.

One other requirement,he has to be faster than Larry Murphy.

If we can find a defenceman who will knock the opposition on their kiesters in a goal-mouth scamble,I'll gladly trade Schneider. We all talk of our lack of toughness on offence, but what about our rearguards? Markov has shown flashes of gritty play, and Krons will hit as well, but who do the opposing forwards fear when they crash our crease on a regular basis? Other teams are always taking out our guys in their crease, but our defenceman are gentlemen on our doorstep. We need a big, mean, Canadian on defence.

Holmstrom does the same job for less than half the price.I think they have equal skating abilities as well.
-
Lapoint was at his peak when he left Detroit for 'greener' pastures. He has been very forgettable since then.
-
I don't think that St L will want to trade with us if possible. We need to look to the east for rental players that can have an impact.
-
Sorry,I need to buy a vowel.
-
Guerin is the better talent and can be nasty.Tkchuk is a big overrated jerk.Either way,St.Louis will fleece us.
-
We need to subtract Lang, add Guerin and Roberts.
-
Given a choice,I'd take Dallas in the first round. However,I did wish for Edmonton last year.
-
You would probably be better in Williams place.
-
I don't think that Roberts is the missing piece, but can be a significant contributing factor. If he has flashes of his past, such as his hat trick in Toronto this year, then we can use him. He will stick up for his teammates, and elevates his game in the playoffs.I would take him as a 4 month rental for a 3rd pick.He goes to the net, into corners, and is not a floater. I believe he has that enough left in the tank to change the complexion of our team for the better.
-
Don't forget last year, the big Cory Cross aquisition.Although he had one big fight,he played 0 minutes in the playoffs.I was hoping to see him play against Edmonton who ran him out of town.
-
Nolan was washed up 3 years ago when he played with the leafs.Trading for him is just for the sake of trading.Too slow and no longer tough,he's definitely in his golden years. Anything more than a 6th or 7th pick for him would be a waste.

Souray is a UFO next year.I'd rather put 3 to 4 million on a younger, bigger defenceman.I know he can be a defensive liability at times, but so is Scheider. He also has one of the hardest shots in the league.
