but it still begs the question: why franzen? how do we know that franzen will come cheaper? i think if it truly comes down to either franzen or hossa, i take hossa no questions asked. he's the better player. hes willing to take less to stay here, why not him?

im all for some players from Grand Rapids getting a full time spot if it means keeping Hossa and Franzen. but if both of them stay, who do the Wings lose? Sammy Hudler (most likely) Flip (possibly) anyone else?

Wings played a solid 3rd period and got their act together. nice to see Flip get a goal; a game winner at that. after a loss like yesterday, im pleased with the Wings taking care of things tonight.

great to see the Wings come back and win this one. Ozzie lets in two goals, neither of which were soft, then he recovers very nicely and played well and got the win. very happy.

but to be fair san jose as of right now has four games in hand on the Wings. ill be tuning in to watch the sharks and ducks. i suppose ill cheer for the ducks?

when teams are able to clog up center ice and force the Wings to dump and chase - that's when they lost their worst to me. Columbus could be a sleepy type team capable of pulling off a serious upset.

i love when people predict who's gonna win the Stanley Cup in October, and after the Trade Deadline. almost every analyst just jumps on whoever is hot at the moment. i try not to notice any actual audio when Bill Clement or Barry Melrose or the like is on the TV...

very interesting... the Wings can win the Cup again if the Europeans on the team played the way they did during the last playoff run. but who's gonna take Drake's spot? Aaron Downey? Darren McCarty? i dont think so.....

im somewhat disappointed. i think Holland could have rather easily acquired Chris Neil. thats the one player i really wanted to see come over and it didn't happen. As far as Flip being traded, im not heartbroken that he stayed here, but i wonder what that will mean when its time to sign the pending UFA's when the summer comes around...

i feel like Chicago is seriously flying under the radar this year...

well... San Jose picked up a few good players and they (travis moen, and kent huskins) can seriously improve their chances at winning the Stanley Cup - as much as i dont like to admit that. i dont think that Calgary is the clear-cut winner today, they picked up a guy they've already had (and traded) before. and Jokinen.....well see! As for their rivals, the Oil, they made a good move to ship off Erik Cole - who obviously isnt the same player he used to be for a guy that can really do some good things for them in their playoff push. (as of right now, the Wings would play Edmonton in the 1st and i cant help but admit that the prospects of that match up make me feel a little uneasy).
