i wonder why downey got called up if he hasnt been playing well down in the AHL this year? im a fan of downey for sure, but it will be interesting to see how he does against the Blues tomorrow... i can feel a scrap coming on. But downey's game needs to be more than just fighting people...id like to see him become an energy guy. really throw his weight around, not taking silly penalties, basically just being a good 4th line type of guy, but after seeing what Leino can do, as much as i like the fighting and the hard nosed playing type that downey tries to be, Leino seems to just help the 4th line play like an energetic 4th line; something downey cant really do right now... maybe ever.

meh i dont agree with you but that's not really the point here. He isnt producing the way we all hoped for, and he's obviously snake bitten.

i used to like him, he had a nice rookie season, a few decent playoff performances, but now what, 28 games since he has scored a goal? albeit jiri hudler had a very similar goal drought last year (it went on something like 25 games) until he finally broke out of his slump but for whatever reason Jiri seems to be the type of player that the puck just seems to come to him, and he cashes in. Flip just looks easily knocked off the puck, and easily contained right now. its never easy to judge a player based on a slump during a season but the appeal to trade away Flip in order to have more money to work with to possibly sign franzen, hossa, and hudler is quite alluring.

agreed. the Wings need to realize that they are fortunate to be up 2-1 and step up their play. but wow did Zetty and Datsyuk make that goal look easy...

in recent years i always seem to get really pumped up anytime the Wings and Ducks meet each other. The Ducks always seem to play Detroit very hard, i viewed the game recap from the last meeting and i forgot how good of a game that was. im expecting more of the same this time around, and Anaheim is always an easy team for me to cheer against with players on the team such as: Chris Pronger Corey Perry Scott "Half Season" Niedermayer Ryan Getzlaf ah yes...i can just see the gooning already.
