rofl!! i totally love this guy. seriously!!
-
pithy and simple, i like it!
-
are you saying we would essentially rent Backstrom?
-
are you talking in general terms or trading sammy to the Wild? i suppose if they can trick some team into trading for him instead of losing him for nothing come july 1st, id go for it but the Wild are gonna want more than that. Sammy and Huder? no Sammy and Franzen? maybe, but probably more
-
yeah for being such a good d-man he sure has moved around a lot... regardless im sure he's happy he's out of Atlanta rather quickly. as for the Habs, i wonder if he will help the sinking ship that is the montreal canadiens
-
i suppose trading for a goalie is a roll of the dice regardless if it's backstrom, toskala or anyone else. Toskala and Backstrom havent won anything in the playoffs yet; neither has Conklin, nor should he be given the chance. Osgood is playoff proven, a veteran, and someone who doesn't get rattled. Yes, his stats are NOT good this season and his goals against are far too high for this (or maybe any) team to win the playoffs. the only goalie that i would go after would be Backstrom, but i highly doubt the Wild would give him up for Jiri Hudler, as much as i love the guy.

i wonder if the Pens really tank and are out of the playoff race or are very clearly on the outside looking in, MAYBE just maybe, the NHL/VS/NBC will just STOP broadcasting so many Pittsburgh games.....please?
-
tank Penguins, tank
-
for the sake of argument, Toskala and Backstrom have about the same playoff experience. Why go after Backstrom? He might tank it in the same way Conklin or Toskala would.

id love for YoungGun's post to be legit, to think the Wild really would trade Backstrom to our team. Minny needs offense, that's no secret, but what would the Wings have to offer them in order to give up a very desirable young goalie? one of Franzen/Filppula/Hudler? Two of them maybe? Id imagine Minnesota would want more than just one player for Backstrom.

well you bring up a good point reminding me of how Hossa said how much he liked pittsburgh and wanted to stay there (id suspect thats the real reason why he was booed in pittsburgh - he said he loved the team and city and jumped ship to the Wings) but with that in mind, i truly believe him when he says he will take less money to be here. players dont just come out and say that. as for deciding who to keep and who to let go, Homer isnt really an option to get rid of, he just signed a new contract with the Wings and besides being an irreplaceable piece to the Wings offense, he has played here his entire career - i would think loyalty from the organization would play a bigger factor in him staying before any cap room being freed up. as for keeping Hudler or Franzen, i dont even know what id think personally if it came down to the two of them. All i know is that Holland is working on a deal to keep Hossa and go after Franzen.. with Hudler (and in a sense, Franzen too) we'll just have to wait and see and speculate some. thats the fun of it all.

i really am yearning to see a fight in a wings game....then i saw our lineup! who's gonna go with ian lapierre....tomas kopecky? regardless, everytime we play the Avs it'd always be good to see them get stomped. go wings, go conkblockk!
-
what a period! draper scored...~!??!!? wooooo!
-
harding is in net tonight...? maybe it will be a high scoring affair!
-
i almost am shocked hearing that Hossa is willing to take less money to be here; not that i think he's not a classy guy, but i just feel like the Wings have hit the lottery with this guy. and to think that Ken Holland is working on keeping Franzen anddd Hossa - that's the right move to me. as much as i reallly really really like Hudler, if it comes down to it.... he needs to go. as for Sammuelson staying.....lol.
-
rofl!! ohh wow...that was a good laugh. i must admit here on LGW right now...my enormous man-crush on Robert Lang
-
sigh......good old Lang. i dont think we necessarily "lost" the trade for Lang at all. Albeit he didnt have the best numbers in his last year here. but to be fair he was playing a pretty monster game with the habs before his unfortunate injury.
-
looks like this rumor has more legitimacy to it than i once thought: from february 10th: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_dadd...?urn=nhl,140388
-
now you're getting it! but seriously, i really wonder if this is legit? probably not.
-
lol i was really just kidding but id want jagr here on a next to nothing deal. and to be fair he did put up 71 points last year so if a stick boy can bring that kind of game to the ice....
-
hmm maybe he misses the NHL like Yashin does? but if he needs to clear waivers to play for the Oil, wouldn't you think somebody else would pick him up for cheap?.....kenny?
-
hmm since when did sopcast stop streaming NHL games?
-
nashville always seems to play hard against the Wings so i wouldnt expect anything different this time around. Conklin continues to impress? we'll see, and looking forward to a hard fought game.
-
^ it's a roll of the dice on the 3rd line but id be willing to do it if it means keeping Hossa around
-
oh nos! a fight! banish them!
