Interesting. First, I think everyone should be nervous about having to play the Ducks in any round, because if they start playing bad or losing, that means they'll start playing dirty and playing to injure, stomping on people and hitting high and elbowing and what have you. All this isn't helped by the four to five hour flight between LA and Detroit, not to mention the time zone difference. Second I think that you don't want to get in the mindset that you shouldn't be worried or nervous about meeting up with a specific team in the playoffs. A number one seed can get ousted by a number eight seed that then goes on to Cup Finals (y hello thar Oilers). Especially a team that hasn't made the playoffs before (Columbus) or in a while (St Louis) and want to prove themselves so fiercely. And thirdly, from the limited perspective of who the Wings do or do not want to play in the playoffs... well, I think that most people from fairly early on, knew that the Wings and the Sharks would most likely end up in the 1/2 positions in the Western Conference. So it wasn't really a matter of not mentioning the Sharks as someone you don't want to play, as really not needing to think about that until you get to the WCF, if both teams make it that far. Playoffs are all about the immediate. Thinking too far in advance, matchup-wise, often comes back to bite you in the ass come playoff time.
