Whenever someone questions Ozzie, I generally think of this: What he said.

I really liked Helm, especially during the playoffs. I thought he had earned a spot as well, but, barring injury (*knock on wood*) I don't see how we have space for him (cap or roster) right now. And as sad as that makes me, because I thought he was a lot of fun to watch on the ice, it also makes me feel really good that we are so deep and if someone gets injured *knock on wood* then we know we have some really great players to call up, and not worry about how they'll play or fit on the team. Sorry, some of those were kind of run on sentences.

... I'm going to blame my dad. He started it. I watched games with him, because he's a pretty laid back kind of guy, and hockey and the Wings were pretty much the only thing he got worked up about, and that was amusing to watch as a small girl. And I got hooked on hockey at the same time. And then my uncles and then my cousins. They sort of continued the insanity because they were all fans too. We'd spend Thanksgiving and Christmas talking about the season, and our camping weekend during July talking about the off-season dealings. But mostly my dad, because I honestly can't remember a time when I wasn't a Wings fan.

Soooo.... Should we start calling him McBabcock?

We are playing each team in the East once this year, but those are the three teams we have home and homes with.

Holy crapola unexpected signing Batman! I am in shock... I didn't think we'd get him at all... Wow, my hands are shaking with shock right now... this is AWESOME! I freakin can't wait for next season to start! And then for the Wings to play San Jose so I can see a bloody game. This is crazy unbelievable...

I am fully convinced that Karma will not allow Bertuzzi to win a Stanley Cup, therefore I don't want him on our team. That and when I was watching one of the games from the Ducks series last year, (the good one) I noticed HOW INCREDIBLY SLOW both he and Lang were. There is no way in HELL Bert could keep up with this team.

I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth at the thought of Ryan Malone getting paid more than Dats. More than Lids. Holy crapola.

I heard "My reign is short now" as well, but I thought it was in reference to how much time he spent on stage compared to everyone else who won. Pav definitely had some short speeches. Funny as hell, but short.

I guess competence is too much to ask for? I don't disagree with you about any of those points, it's just so ridiculous that a star player of the league, a man whose won six Norris Trophies, four Stanley Cups, a man who was the first European to win the Conn Smythe and the Norris, a man who has never missed a playoff season in his career with the NHL can't get his name spelled right on the one jersey that is broadcast to an International audience at a show that is giving him an award that will continue his entrenchment in the record books. I'm not angry, I'm... appalled? I don't even know. My mind is boggled. (Yes, I am perfectly aware that is a horribe run on sentence.)

This is ridiculous. No, it's not the end of the world. No, it's not a huge deal that his name was misspelled. But just the fact that we saw and realized that they spelled his name wrong on the back of the jersey just reeks of incompetence somewhere. Did no one notice that his name was spelled wrong? They make thousands, if not tens of thousands of Nick Lidstrom jerseys EVERY YEAR and they manage to find the ONLY mispelled one and give it to a kid and then show it on a televised program? Utter incompetence. At the very least, they should have noticed they misspelled his name and couldn't run out and get a new one and decided to use a camera angle that doesn't display the misspelled name. Did they think no one would notice?

Well, I just got done watching the awards (TiVo-ed it, since I was out of the apartment at the time) and overall, I'm very pleased! Random assorted thoughts: ~PAVS!! *Fangirl SQUEE* He was so awesome. I was so happy he won both awards, and he was so funny with his acceptance speeches. Especially the second one, which went something like "I have list for who to thank for the first, but now I have nothing! So another short speech. Thank you." *exit stage* LMAO!! And his hair... oh boy. His wife was gorgeous and looked so happy for him. ~Loved how they cut to Zata laughing at the end of Pav's Selke speech. "My speech long, but my English short" (cut to: Zata laughing, hand on forehead) Epic awesomness ~Never seen Babs smile that much! ~Nick's kids = teh cuteness! ~I, rather surprisingly, enjoyed the bit with host guy's cell phone going off and it being "Sean Avery." The NHL awards... yes, we still have those. No, I don't need help with that other problem. A mostly amusing show, if it did feel very rushed and put together at the last minute for some reason. The bits with the kids were well done, introducing the nominees. And I liked watching Gordie up there getting the new Lifetime Acheivement Award. Also, it ran over the allotted time, so my bloody DVD cut out right as they were about to announce the winner of the Veinza. Didn't enjoy the Crosby/Pittsburgh lurve, because Dear Everyone, in case you forgot, they lost. Shocking, I know. As far as I could tell, Cindy wasn't even there, but I can tell this mostly because they didn't pan over to him every ten seconds. Congrats to our boys that won! And to all those other people too, lol.

Awww, good for him, but I'll miss watching him whisper gossipy secrets about our opposition to Babs during the games! Like many people said above me, best of luck to him, except against us!
